The Sun Shifts....

There is a small portion of the year when the sun begins it's southerly movement in the sky and I have moments when my living room is ablaze with pattern and light.

This house of mine, with color everywhere, and red especially, begins to GLOW. It is always a quick run for the camera, as the moments pass very quickly.
What was golden in one second moves to a clearer lemon-light then next. Not enough time to capture everything I'd like.

One of the few times a section of my hall not only gets light, but magnificent lighting that turns my little gallery into a dramatic abstract all it's own.
Oh, how can you top shadows so intense?
They have a life of their own.

And though I have photographed this before, I am always amazed at the subtle differences caused by light.
Shifting.
Morphing.
Magically appearing and then gone.
Everything becomes a canvas.
The sun paints.

Gorgeous!! Although I have learn to look with your eyes - I am always aghast when the sun shines into our living room, how much DUST there is! Yikes!! Yours looks perfectly clean though... Love, Silke

You have such a great capacity for not only finding beauty everywhere, but adding beauty as well. Great post today -- the photo of your lusciously lit hallway gallery is a delight for the soul.

A spiritual and mystical awakening: that sun that always returns, even in the darkest times. You are a supreme observer, Anne, and I am privileged that we are friends

You reignited my catholic background with this post. It is a background I struggle against sometimes, but never this holy part

Love

Oh, I love getting to see your house in this beautiful light! And your gallery! :) There are times in the day, when the lighting here is so incredible it stops you in your tracks. But then I (like Silke!) notice cobwebs and dog hair and cat hair and dust Godzilla! lol! xox

I always love this time of year~~the few days that the light is *just right* for the photos.
Makes me think of some of the old monoliths, where people had a window positioned for the sun to arrive one day out of the year.
Must have been magnificent!

As I read your words and gasped at that fleeting, golden minute that you managed to catch, I DID think of Stonehenge, of Mt. Athos, of Maachu Picchu and of the Nave in *my* Carmelite Church where those breathtaking scenes are visible if you are there at the right time....

Anne - just gorgeous..... red and gold - such a wonderful pairing.

Love you always,

♥ Robin ♥

Beautiful images, Anne. The color is outstanding. I was happy to see religious statues in your home. I was beginning to think I was the only person who has them around the house. They are important to me and give me moments to pause and reflect when I pass them.
I think we both know the Holy Spirit and his Mother listened to our pleas and watched out for you in your time of need.
A lovely post.

Thank all for the nice comments!
I need to learn to leave my GOOD camera in the house, so it's accessible quickly. (hahaha---I have two cameras, the second was to be in the car all the time; it lives in the studio with the OTHER camera....SIGH)
Next time.....next time I'll get some of the other areas with art! :-)

~reminds me of one of my favorite poems...

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leafs a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

gorgeous light you have that comes through your home...here and gone...but long enough to make an imprint in your heart and mind...much love light and blessings~
