Bit Of A Blog-Fog....

Pretty much how I've felt trying to find updates on friends blogs....
I have been suspecting since the new Blogger Dashboard appeared that there was something hinkey a-foot.
Blogs I followed that had very high volume traffic kept showing up in the dashboard, and yet the blogs I regularly READ were nowhere to be found, except occasionally popping into the feed for a minute.
I was beginning to feel like I was having a bad Face Book flashback.....ACK!
So, on a whim yesterday, I went into the list that I follow and deleted A LOT. And most of them were the blogs with Uber-Followers. Blogger was, as usual, acting less than cooperative, so IF in this process, I have accidentally stopped following a blog of one of my faithful readers, let me know. The deleting process was jumping all over, like a hopping flea, and I'm really not sure what went.
This morning when I looked at my dashboard, guess what?
The blogs I used to find there every day before the *new and improved Blogger* (HA! choke! snarf!) had returned, and suddenly I was having places to visit.
Really, I did not think everyone had fallen off the face of the planet like I do occasionally.....
Well, that little problem is solved for the moment.
I also discovered Picassa, where all our blog images go, had changed radically since I was last there, and I was *trying* to learn my way around, mainly for deleting things. Heaven forbid Google make it E-A-S-Y. Oh no, that's asking too much. The only improvement is you can delete a whole folder/file at once now, so if you have blog-clean-up to do, it quickens the process.
Well, I'm off to another day of computer work, laundry and MAAAAAYBE, if I'm really good, I'll get to squeeze in some art.
Listening to WWOZ to chill out with some amazing jazz.......what a way to ease into the day!

Hey marianne~~

I think we're all sort of in a state of flux with blogs, art, demands IRL....
I need a body double for the crappy work, and then I can create at will!

When I got the new Blogger dashboard, I lost 3 or 4 blogs in my reader and had to re-enter them. Who knows why? @#$!! Blogger.

So it wasn't just me thinking I was losing my mind? I am getting tired of the whole process anyway. Time to rethink...

I'm not even going to attempt deleting pics! I bowed down to the Google God and will pay the $2.40 monthly fee! UGH! But guess I've been lucky to have a 'free' blog for the past few years!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Debra,

I'd had that issue too, but at the time didn't think much of it.
It was just lately when I wasn't seeing the blogs I always READ that I was wondering what was going on..... ((O_○))

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Pam,

I so hear you. I guess I keep plugging along just because I enjoy the contact with people and SOMETIMES....hahaha!....enjoy putting the posts together!
But then there are the other days.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Well Robbie, you're a better woman than me! I refuse to bow to those *gods*....LOL!
(at least not yet...)
I had some clean up from some older blogs jointly run and no longer open. Time to delete pics.
They don't tell you how much space you've used, at least that I can find.
My next adventure... ;-D

I recently deleted a bunch of blogs that were on my list and found the same thing as you-that some other blogs I follow were finally showing up on my list.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Well Janet, I was wondering if it was just *me* or my poor computer (which gasps!) but I got thinking about the FB algorithms and how I don't see friends feeds, soooooo, assumed it might be the same here.
And to some extent, sounds like it is.
Thanks for letting me know.

You were busy this morning! I will try again, maybe another way, where the pop-up doesn't appear asking me to do a profile first. I don't want a profile!!!

I feel like I am welding a machete through the technological jungle, Anne! Swaaap! Zing! Pow! :) I am losing the battle. Let's join forces. We can wear pink skelly tights and Doc Martins. xox!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey April,

Your Blogger profile should log you in....I think.
I know that's what I use.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Oh Pam!

I am SOOOOOO more than ready!
Just give me time to run put my Docs on and I'm ready.
Can I use a SCYTHE on the technology-monster???
(and yes I want pink skellie tights!)

Love that foggy, misty image....sort of like m y brain these days! Blogger and *Friends* seems to be dragging us all down a path to Dante's Ninth Level of Hell....

Can I have Lilac Skellie Tights?

Cameron said...

You know, you're right....I was thinking that maybe people weren't blogging as much anymore, but I should check my blog roll!

I haven't reached my Picasa capacity...yet....but, I know it's coming...aaargh :(

I am so oblivious and uninformed. I don't even know my feeder list or whatever it's called because I just check out my sidebar blog list.

But Facebook: I don't like the ads. Not one bit.

I had a nice day too. I talked to a friend this morning

I am with you...I so wish they would leave the system alone...I am tired tonight so if there is a problem...I am going to bed. Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Well said Robin!
I think if Dante had another Level of Hell, it would be called BLOGGER!!! :-D
And yes, you definitely can have the LILAC skellie tights, though I know you'll wear them tres chic!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hi Cameron,

I know this sounds selfish, but I'm glad to hear it wasn't just *me* that was having issues with finding friends blogs. *shakes head*
I've got to go back into Picassa (on a day I feel like having my head explode~~lol!) and see if I can FIND where my quota is. Couldn't see it the other day, but then, sometimes I don't process what's right in front of me.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey KJ,

Sometimes I think being utterly uninformed is by far the BEST! :-D Saves a lot of grief!
I run Social Fixer over FB so thankfully, I don't get the ads. It's a free download--you just have to check to see if it works with your OS. It has SAVED ME from deleting the FB account.....
Your friend you talked to?
I bet she was CRAZY.....!!!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Corrine, if I could get a blog that LOOKS like this one onto WP, I might do it.
Altho, I've had savvy friends that went that route and came back, but we all have had a lot of *stuff* on our blogs (images, HTML, etc) and that was the bone of contention.
You are definitely missing an, ahem, *INTERESTING* time over here in Blogger-Land! HA!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Mary-Helen,

If I didn't deal with this hooey first thing in the day, when my mind is semi-fresh (hahaha!) I would never get anything figured out, and when I do, it's pure luck.
I always vote for just going to bed! Sleep is GOOD!

Talk to me Dahling!
