Hey Toto....Was That The Wicked Witch That Just Flew By???

Just in case you were wondering how I spent my evening.......as this monster rolled in, I thought it would be interesting to get photos.

Still not too frightening, though I noticed some VERY COLD AIR was starting to blow.....

.....And it did seem to be coming in at a rapid pace......yikes.......

.....And this was when I exited the cover of the porch for the safety of the house! If you notice, the trees are whipping about. I was no more inside before all hell broke loose; thunder, lightening, 60 MPH winds, hail and sheets of rain so intense and white I could not see the field at the side of our yard.
And it had no more passed and calmed to normal rain, then the power went out.
For two hours. (I read to the birds this time, because they are as scared as I was.....)
I had great sympathy and many prayers for the Linemen that have to go out and fix electricity in the WET. Just think about that one for a minute.....
And then later, we were treated to......

.....Pink, lavender and peach clouds, beautiful but.....

.....Those are clouds that still have some serious punch left in them.
Had no internet last evening nor this morning; behind on everything and have some work issues here I am going to have to figure out so I may be off blog or not visiting until I can get them under control. This has to do with paying work.
If any of you use a Janome 10000 and have the software for embroidery and really know how to use it, please--I beg you--e-mail me. If I can't get this to work, I am up a dirty little creek with no paddle and back to square one on one very important element!
Okay kiddies.......I'm off to a day of grunt work and thinking. Oy.

Pax.

Weather frightens me the most. How can wind level a forest...amazing power. Sorry about your machine! Wishing you some brain power today! Bzzzzzzzzz. **kisskiss** Deb

Damn, it's been blowing here for over a week. Yesterday morning it was friggin' cold and this coming from the menopause mamma.

Today is going to be in the upper 80's and the rest of the week will be in the 90's and I have no air conditioner yet...waiting for my stepson to find time to come plug in the ol' swamp cooler. Would do it myself, but I'm sooo afraid of heights and the top of the roof might as well be Mt. McKinley!!!

Going to try to get into the studio and work, but still haven't gotten my groove back...hate this and here I'm going to the doc in a couple of weeks and tell him I want off on the antidepressants...can't lose any weight no matter how much I try. I'd rather be a couple of sizes smaller and deal with my problems than be fat and happy!!! hahahahaha!!!

Have a good one, ye ol' grump...hope you kill many little dragons today.

Love ya,
G

Hey Georgina,

I tell you, it has been CRAZY here. I basically can depend on nothing when the weather turns, and that is all it has done.
Yesterday was freaky because it came up so quick....and mean.
I am desperately rooting through the studio, seeing if I can find ANYTHING on that stupid embroidery junk for the machine.....ARRRRRRGH!
Life.....pffft.

CREEPY! But oh such beautiful photos you took. I cracked up with your birdies being angry when the radio went off and then having to read to them. Hee hee! You are too darned sweet.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Elena,

I think the birds and I were just pretty SCARED! When I took the top pics, it was just a little windy, but dang, then it got "knock you flat" type winds!
I had leaves from the trees at the back of my lot in the front yard.....and that's a pretty good distance!
The *Boys* got their comparitive theology lesson last evening!
LOL!! ;)

Geeze! Batten down the hatches and get down in the cyclone cellar. How funny that da Boyz need music or being read aloud to. Makes for beautiful pictures though. Hope your power stays on so you can get all your stuff done and your Janome 10000 figured out.

Karen S said...

Wow! Did you see the face in that angry cloud?! No wonder the birdies were frightened!

I love taking photos of the sky. So beautiful even when it is threatening. Great photos Anne. I went to your studio to check it out and wow, you are very neat. You ought to see mine right now...Yikes!! How do I get in? Tee Hee. Have a great Tuesday.

All God's Wrath and Glory in a day, WOW! Glad you are okay and that the birdie boys had you to soothe them.

SCARY looking weather...I wouldn't like it one little bit.

But on a like-minded note - I just downloaded Mrs.Gulch/Wicked Witch's theme music as my ring tone!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Julie,

I think I'm going to just THROW the Janome off the roof, and then I'll feel lots better! LOL!!
It was funny with the birds; they responded very well to reading.
We were all scared S**TLESS...and DH was teaching.....

Hey Karen,

All I saw in that cloud was what had the potential for lower level ROTATION.....and that was when I exited the porch! FAST! :D
But they do make interesting photos.....

Hey Gloria,

Yeah, the studio was neat the day the photos were taken!
I'm not sure what the word is for it now. Nuclear fallout???? Crap-o-rama???
It's somewhere in there!
I will say that when you don't have to *deal* with the storms, those clouds are amazing. If they just did not do damage....

Hey Leslie,

I was darned glad I was okay too---I was wondering if the roof would stay on.....
The boys....they are so spoiled. I would stop reading; *peep?* And then I'd read...geez.

Oh Tristan!!!

LOL!!!! You just made my day with that! That is hilarious---I will have that music running through my head the rest of the evening! :D
Thank you---I have desperately needed a good laugh...how can anyone who has used one machine for so long be so CLUELESS as to the embroidery feature????

LOL! Love the pictures they are amazing.
You are so sweet to those bird boys of yours. You are a good mom!!

Time to raise a glass I think! Cheers to you!
Oops... early...oh well, it is late somewhere.
Salute!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Marie, I was gonna say if you DID fly by and not stop in, I'd have to get MY broom out!!! LOL!!!
And by the way, it's almost 5:00 o'clock here.....
The birds and I return the toast!;)

Stunning photos, but extremely scary weather. I think I'd be in the basement even if I had to take the birds with me. Be safe!

Wow - Anne! I love those pictures! Some part of me is scared witless by weather like that, and the other part is jumping up and down like I'm at the County Fair! Wahoo! But then, I used to feel the same way about earthquakes in CA. So maybe I am unbalanced, just a little - hahaha! Ah, well. Did the machine make a big hole in the ground when you threw it off? LOL! It's Miller Time (or in my case vino). Have a great night - may the power stay on! xox pam

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

M.A. that is where I would rather have been, but if you could see the SIZE of their cages...well....without DH here, I just decided to stick it out with the boys!

Hey Pam!!!

Have a couple for me, would ya???
I swear, as terrified as I am of storms, if there was a visible tornado, I probably would be out with the camera.....it's that little tip of the balance between "WOW....that's cool" and "OH CRAP! I'm gonna die!!!"
Neither of us could be considered unbalanced.... ;D

We had heavy rain and wind, but no hail that I heard. Of course, no internet for hours...satellite sucks. I hate storms, we don't have a cellar, just a bathroom in the center of the house.

I love watching weather change like that since it is so interesting, and I belive this year has show us quite a bit of interesting weather!! The second picture from the top is a really cool looking picture with the clouds and light. I had a rainy day a few days ago so was able to do some things, but with sunshine I'm outside. I'm trying to get caught up on blog reading and posting, but I could fall asleep at the computer after working outside! Hope you get the info you need to get back on track.

Your photographs are stunning...I hate the harsh weather myself so Rosie and I head downstairs to the man cave. Our storm was minimal last night but the raccoons were creating havoc with the potted plants in the gardens. I just ordered two more books from Seth Apter's Sunday Book Guild...help life is getting expensive. I will fill you in when something arrives...you have inspired me to be very bad!!!! I love your photos. Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

OH my goodness! Crazy, crazy clouds!! I'm not a fan of storms, I must say. Ugh! :) We had another very, very windy day here again. I believe storms are supposed to roll in tonight for us. Watch out, toto!!

Hugs!

OH MY GOD! You have mammatus clouds! You captured the mammatus clouds! Do you have any idea how great that is?

MAMMMATUS CLOUDS!!!

I love this post! I love your clouds. Brave girl you are but look how fearsome yet beautiful they are.

Thank you thank you thank you!

Ces Adorio said...

MAMMATUS CLOUDS - always associated with tornadic winds. Oh Anne! I am so beside myself.

How did I miss this post, Anne?! Those photos are gorgeous, but I know how frightening that can be. We had storms here yesterday (I think that same weather line), but they had lost their punch when they arrived here and just dumped much needed rain.

When we do have severe weather and the sirens go off, I miss our basement we had in Michigan. Here, our house is on stilts and we have to hide in the little closet under the stairs.

I'm glad you had the birds to read to... and I'm glad your power is back...

Love, Silke

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Vicki,

Eventhough we have the small cellar that is my wet studio, I am of the opinion that it would not offer much protection in a severe storm. Of course, all the junk lining the walls might give it a bit more strength!!! ;D

Hi Ulrike!

Yes, last evening, I stumbled across a website with what I think will work for my sewing project! YAY!
I have a feeling this year will offer me plenty of opportunities to shoot storm pics; the jet stream set in odd during late winter and usually indicates what type of spring weather we'll have.
Don't kill yourself outside (says she who can't breathe from mowing yesterday!)

you said: "MAMMATUS CLOUDS - always associated with tornadic winds."
Oh baby, you got that right! That pic with the one low hanging cloud, I think it is the third down, had minor rotation beginning. And then there was the hail, so no surprise for that Mammatus clouds. It was a humdinger, and yes, I posted those for you! :D

I don't know if I could live on a house on stilts! I would be terrified I would be blown away...wait, I feel that way with one on the ground with a little cellar too.....hahaha!!!
Glad they were not bad when they got to you; I am sure it was the same line as it draped from the gulf northward. Pretty impressive duratio line in it too....
