Angels......

.....and now that there are two of the ATCs, does this mean a series is officially started? In case you're wondering, there are no faces for a reason; I have no idea how to portray an angel, and I like the mystery of only the hair, wings and clothing. Then, everyone has to use their imagination and produce their own visual of their own angel.....personal...unique.
Nope, they're not fine art, but they are a meditation on the season......
Plus it is fun putting all that white ink on the black textured cardstock, and then a tidbit of color in the remaining spaces! ;-)
And for those not familiar with ATC size, these are 2 1/2" x 3 1/2".

Pax.

Wow. What a great artist you are. These angels are perfect. Love the no-face, it let's our own imagination create, while enjoying all the detail.

They are beautiful Anne and I like the no face too we can imagine our faces on them or others that are angels in our life. Well done, keep going.

Thanks Ladies!

I was hoping that by keeping part of the figure out of visual range, everyone would fill in with their own ideas.
Am working a third one now....
Hope to get it up before I am off for my *great adventure....* LOL!!

You know Ann, You are so right about the face of an angel. I remember a very, very vivid dream and I saw an angel looking at through a window at me. I knew that it was male, but I never got see real features. Only his eyes shone and they so big and full of life. I had that dream nearly 30 year ago and I still remember it like it was yesterday. My dear friend and I do mean Dear. I pray that healing on every level comes speedily to you. That you would be healed from the crown of your precious head to the soles of your dancing feet. May joy over take your heart and make you strong and that creativity over flows from your brush. You are a blessing and hilariousness is part of your wonderful gift mix. You make me laugh till I cry. Mojo jo has nothing on you girly! he he he! Keep sharing your wonderful heart and humor and beautiful work! I LOVE YOU! I really do! Merry Christmas Lady bug!

Hey Vanessa,

Thank you for sharing the dream; that is amazing, and I think at a gut level, that's why there are no features with mine.
They go about their work, but we may not gaze upon the face.
This may end up being only three---they seem to fit together well (the other I started) and I might mount them as a tryptich.
Thank you dear---I shall be back with my most irreverant humor and going like a mad-woman. (well, at least the last two words...)
Missing my blog already....

these are so wonderful - I just don't know how you can do such tiny stuff. My fingers get in the way. I can't draw atc's - I just do mixed media and glue stuff on them LOL.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Tristan, I think this all started years ago with making very detailed Barbie clothes. I have to admit though, the fingers don't work like they used to, and I do occasionally resort to tweezers for placing tiny paper bits.
That's why these are fun because I just use a pen and kick back on the couch!
Someday I'll get brave enough to try GLUE..... ;)
LOL!!!!

Anne - these are addicting! They remind me of the new doodles I am doing - I find when I get stressed out, the zen-ish aspect of the doodling really helps. But your angels are so much more - love the two colors, and the idea of no face - fabulous!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Linda,

Yes, the small size is great for my limited attention span in the evening and I love working with a limited pallette. It is quite like your Zen drawings.....you just sort of flow with it.
I manage one an evening due to the hands, but you know, I am quite content with that. There is a lot in that little space!
And by not having a face, I have to think harder about the elements....wings, hair, stars, robes----what's it evoking?
Heading for the couch now with the *ATC (ahem!) BOX-OF-SUPPLIES*.....LOL!
It's a big box......sigh....

Anne! Yes they are fine art! I love the vision you have going here, and they appear as crochet, or tatting, so much texture. Vanessa said it all in her beautiful prayer for your upcoming surgery...I join her in that prayer. **blows merry kisses** Deb

Thanks Deb!

And yes, I am resting...had to do *the exercises*....my super-nutritious lunch in microwave and the third angel upstairs, in the box, waiting for completion!
Off to mangia!

Gorgeous..........how much fun this would be to reproduce with glistening white thread on a midnight black background.

Looks like art to me!

Lovely work, Anne. What kind of pen are you using? I realize it is white on a black background. I haven't found a white pen I have been totally happy with.

Please email me your home address I have one of my angels here for you! I agree you really cannot describe details of what angels look like in person...but I too have seen them and felt their white loving light radiating from their eyes of Love. I do believe they are wonderous and remind us to be kind and watchful for the ones we love dearly. I am so happy you are in my life through the internet ...I am sending you white healing light and energies for next week. Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen and my guardian angel Ken

Jill....you ought to try doing one of these with the shiny white thread---I think it would be beautiful too!!!

Jan, I'm using a white gelly roll pen. I had a japanese brand that I liked much better for ink quality (it's upstairs right now....you know the routine!) but I had a hard time getting the ink to flow properly on the textured paper. So I resorted to the Gelly Roll which does okay, but I found I have to build layers of the white on heavy areas.
I will e-mail you with the other pen.....cannot remember the name at all now....
Regular white gels don't have enough pignment. And the white paint pens are a MESS. Ask me how I know..... ;)

Hi MA,

I seem to thrive on the small sizes....must be something in my brain that says it will be done soon so there is no anxiety in starting it, or finishing for that matter....hmmmmm...... LOL!!
They really are easy with the right pen nib and just zoning out and doing them; they sort of draw themselves.

Hi Sophia...yes, I agree.....I think there are always angels around us, and occasionally it we ourselves that are required to be one.
None of it's like the television depictions.......we are given what we can handle in a small, easy dose....

Hi Gypsy,

I think if you tried an ATC, with your ability at abstract, you'd have a ball! Or you could do collage....I've just kept to the drawing because it's portable, to take up in the evening.
Thanks for the comments on the larger pair; I named the "Botanica Antiqua; 1 & 2"
Wow. That really blows one away....SNARF!!! ;)
