Fun at the Cafe.......

It was a fun evening at Cafe Du Cirque with Megan Mirro presenting the art lecture! We managed to juuuuust avoid a nasty thunderstorm so our patrons got home safely, and the atmosphere in the Cafe was light and cozy.
Photos from the event, and an aside: the good photos are courtesy of Valerie May. The less than stellar ones are from your dear authoress...... ;)
Myself and Megan, plotting to take over the world with ART!!!!!

Valerie May, Shane Mohler, and Megan looking through some of the books the Museum Curator allowed out for the evening. There were old yearbooks from the Fort Wayne School of Art, which were hand printed and colored, and were absolutely beautiful! The quality of paper and print was amazing......

This was my favorite print from among many; the colors still being so vibrant, the use of line and dot, and especially the fact that it was for the school Faculty! Humor and Art have gone hand in hand forever!

Opening montage for the presentation. The painting in the lower left is in the museum's permanent collection and is one I intend to see in person.
This also gives a good idea of the range the talk covered, from the very traditional to the modern.

And Megan at work! It was a lovely presentation and I sure am glad we scheduled it. I always wish more people could have been in attendance (though we had a nice small crowd) simply because it is such a wonderful opportunity to enjoy art and learn art history.
From all of us who attended----
Thanks Megan!!!!

Looks like it was a great presentation. Would have thoroughly enjoyed it myself.

I love the LOVE sculpture, one resides in a park in Philly and I used to see it whenever I walked with my dog to work. Thanks for the memory.

Glad everyone was safe home before the storm!

Waahhh, I wanna come! I'd love something like this...wouldn't it be great if there were more of these on the web for us self-studiers? 'Course maybe there already is and I just don't know where to look.... Happy creating today!!

I do wish there were ways for art-info talks to be put on the web, as it would help people to learn in a comfortable environment, without feeling *out of place* as some do in certain groups. That's the nice thing about these talks--they are informal and we had good feedback during the program. So it was fun!
I have never had a chance to see one of the "LOVE" sculptures up close, but it would be interesting to see---they look massive! Some of the other sculptures in the show looked huge too, big enough that I kept thinking "How'd they make that???"

What a handsome devil that faculty guy is! I'm glad this event happened and that you were able to make it, on heels no less! What a great place to hang out and listen/talk about art. I enjoy clicking on your photos and peeking around in the backgrounds, I see lots of little art pieces back there.

I told Chris I want to come in and photograph the interior sometime to post; how people have commented on how nice it is to see parts of it.
I need one of those 3-D visual things they have for real estate..... ;)
