The Very Best Of Times....

....this Christmas. I had tried to find time to do a pre-holiday post, and like everyone else, life got crazy with little things that needed finishing up, plus our area has been preparing for a blizzard, which may or may not hit today. We're right on the demarcation line, so I'm holding my breath, but the snow blower is ready as is the operator. (Moi)

It was a good, GOOD Christmas here. I could not have asked for better. I learned that hanging around half the day in Jammies and hand knit socks is QUITE GOOD, but sticking a bow to one's fuzzy head is QUITE BAD, as removal of said bow removed hair too. OWIE!!! (live and learn...lol!)

Even the Miser Brothers decided on a few minutes of Peace On Earth to send out happy wishes! Hey, if they can, can't the rest of US??? The posts on Face Book of late have just been beyond my ken. Mean. Fear-mongering. Things are split in a season that we should all be coming together.
A little KINDNESS please.

We did our usual non-traditional meal of New Orleans influence and I can honestly say I am so stuffed from crawfish and shrimp, I don't care to see either for......oh, a day or two??? ;-D Things were definitely YUMMY as we rolled quietly into the evening.

Another learning experience:

While these little guys smell like HEAVEN cooking, leaving the empty shells till the following morning is a BAAAAAAAAAD IDEA! Oh my. Yeah, I was having a Vieux Carre moment.....walking down Bourbon Street in the morning with the smell of, well, NOT GOOD wafting through the air.
I tended to the chores quickly.
And to cap off a lovely evening, as the sun dipped, with clouds rolling in, there was color for a brief moment.
Winter makes you run to catch those bits of amazing atmospheric change. Wait too long and it's all gone.....like a dream, wondering if you saw it.

And so Christmas 2012 is wrapped up, today, Boxing Day, should prove interesting too. I await 2013 eagerly.
Sometimes the very best times you have are the ones you think may never be seen.
I know that well.
Here's hoping you and yours were given sweet moments to remember and that you'll have many more to come!

Sounds like an awesome Christmas was had at your house! I thought of you on Christmas Eve, Anne, when My Rare One and I went to a Catholic evening mass to hear a friend sing in the choir. The priest was wearing nice vestments but his long stole was nowhere near as spectacular as the works of art you create -- although I imagine your creations are probably worn by the higher ups like bishops, archbishops etc.?

Hey Debra,

No, my pieces are worn by the local levels! If the higher ups want something fancy (fancier!) they better do a Scrooge-McDuck and let the moths out of the change purse! (I would LOVE to do fancier work~~there is amazing stuff out there beyond my current budget)
We had a lovely day and sounds like the Mass you attended was pretty lovely too.
A good good day for all!

i think we were thinking along the same wavelength this christmas, anne. big challenges, small nuisances, middling confusion; all of it seems to do best when we just let it happen in our real or metaphorical jammies :^)

what you said to mary helen, i say to you: i hope 2013 is very good to you.

Yeah KJ, for our *Season-O-Glee*, it sure took a quick about face, eh? lol!
I loved this Christmas, and it was very very good in that simple, relaxed way that no amount of planning can bring.
And I am thankful too.....especially for good friends! ;-)

And Happy holiday's to you and yours!!!! Take care and the best to you in 2013!
We're headed off to Florida on Thursday if the snow/roads allow us!!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Thanks Robbie, and right back at ya!
Not sure how the roads will be down this way, or thru Ohio (not sure which way you head).
We did not get as much snow here as predicted, but it's darn slippery under the snow! So, be very careful.....
Have a great 2013!

That dinner looks delicious! I"m trying to get back in the swing of things after the Christmas festivities. For me, the best day is always the day after Christmas - I guess because I have nothing to do but enjoy the day, and the leftovers, and sleep. :))

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Pam,

I always feel that way after dinner has been served; the obligations are over and the relaxing can begin! Sometimes the day after, I have a hard time kicking into gear again~~sort of like "What do I DO NOW???" lol! You know what I mean!
