Pure Gold....

Fall is in the air.
In the morning, I hear it's whisper.
Gold begins to take the landscape,
Touches of crimson
Kiss the trees.
The morning sun rises
Through veils of
Drifting fog.

Autumn is gently approaching.
The promise of cool,
Of color,
Of chilly nights and
Crisp days.
Apples and pumpkins
Brighten the days before
The dark and cold of
Winter.

It is a sweet smell,
This, the passing of another year.
Mingled aromas of leaves,
Earth and harvest.
Sweet upon the palate.
Delight upon the eyes.

Welcome to the colors of fire,
That dance wildly
For too short a time.
Before the whites and grays
Of the earth's long
Sleep.

Goldenrod! Love it and miss it -- it doesn't grow this far north.

What beautiful writing. I did almost sneeze when I saw this goldenrod photo though! LOL! My Autumn allergies have been bad, but I wouldn't trade this season for the world.

I bought a special card for you last week so I'm going to drop you a note! Sometimes it's just nice to receive a piece of snail mail ;)

I hope you're feeling well, dear friend.

Love and hugs,
Lo♥

Morning ! !
Love the photo & the poem....
My Mom used to be so alergic. Thankfully I did not inheret that tendancy!
Hope all is well. We are fine here.

Hey Debra,

We have I don't know how many varieties of Golden Rod here~~I always enjoy seeing the difference in bloom shape and color when they bloom.
And everything just glows!

Hey Lo,

Yeah, my allergies have been having a ball too~~and surprisingly, golden rod doesn't phase me; it's the horse and rag weed that blooms at the same time.
Our trees are starting to color nicely~~love Autumn!
Snail Mail!
YES!
I love it..... ;-)

Hey Marilyn,

Busy enjoying the cool nights and mornings here. We've been lucky to just get showers now and then; the leaves are holding up and hopefully will have a vibrant color show!
Nice to see you stop by~~ :-)

HEY THERE...dear FBBBFF! I love your golden photo and words....a perfect tribute to my favourite time of year!

Not too much *golden* anything here - weather-wise...the coldest, greyest, dampest September in many a year...but, TODAY, the Sun is shining!!!

Sending you many hugs and lots of love!!!

Hey Robin,

See, you got some *gold* in your day after all! :-)
We have sun and it's nice today but showers for later in the week. I'm just ready for dry and CHILLY!!!
And when I am up to it, I need to take the camera and go for a drive to record some of the colors...

De jolis mots pour accompagner cette jolie photo...
Octobre s'annonce et je n'aime pas particulièrement cette période de l'année... qui me rend très mélancolique.
gros bisous

Beautiful words Anne, love the shot of the goldenrod. It is such a humble plant yet so lovely if you take the time to really see it. xox

Ooooh! I love goldenrod, and we have so much of it this year. Glorious gold, gold everywhere! Your photo is gorgeous, as is your poem. Fall is my favorite time of year, and I especially love where you write:

"Welcome to the colors of fire,
That dance wildly
For too short a time."

So true.

Hugs and love,
xoxoxo
