The Quiet Monday.....

It is very quiet, this August fog that greets me in the early morning. A buffer to the noise from roads a mile or more away.....

....I watch the sun come up and light the land with gold, reflecting in the  moisture-rich air....

....The view framed by porch posts as if by a paper easel used to print photos....

....Shadows and boards become an interesting mix of abstract line....a simple pleasure magnified....

....A visitor, sunning to dry off. (it has been years since I have been graced with a Walking Stick  in my garden....and the butterflies have returned in abundance)

....Lilies sweet adding scent to the moment. A bundle most lovely; a bouquet by Nature herself....

....And charming, graceful, the hearts so damp with dew....Redbud, yes, but so much more....

....Mallows, fashionable with glittering water drop necklace....bright frilly skirts waiting to dry and dance in the breeze....

....As my horizon clears, I pull myself back into the real world of studio and work. But saving all these little miracles, and sharing near and far.
May your Monday be magical.
See the beauty that surrounds you; capture the moment.

Pax....

I've never seen a walking stick insect in real life. Much too cold for them up here in Canada. But what a fascinating bug!

Hi Andrea,

Glad I brought you a little a.m. sun! It was beautiful, as long as I don't have to drive in it!
Have a great Monday.

Hi Debra,

That is a young walking stick--they can get up to about 12" when grown, depending on where on lives. They always remind me of a throw back to pre-historic times....such odd creatures!

Simply gorgeous this Monday morning. What a way to start the week - that sets the perfect tone, doesn't it? Thanks for sending us into our weeks with such beauty... Love, Silke

Hi Silke!

It was lovely~~and all right on the porch. Sometimes reducing the amount of space to find inspiration makes it appear quicker.....like your radio drawing!
Have a wonderful week!

What a delight to sip my coffee and watch *your* day open... how absolutely magical. *Your* fog is so gentle and ethereal..... and *Mr. Walking Stick*......I love him! I haven't seen a real one in many years....(cos you know they don't exist in chilly SF)! He is wonderful - and a good omen for the week!

The flowers......ummm...I can (almost) smell them! (Although for once, I can say I have a beautiful, gentle fragrance in my flat - I bought a Gardenia plant over the weekend - and already have three white intoxicating flowers opened....)

Isn't Nature glorious!!!!!

Miss you...and hope that you are feeling better...refreshed and ready to create!

Love,

♥ Robin ♥

Hey Robin,

I have been LAZY. Tons of photos in the computer and not taking time to post.
This morning was just too good not to get them on-line and share.....
I love gardenias! Of course, they make me sneeze, wheeze and my eyes puff shut, but I love them from afar! (I brought in three of the lilies and am having *issues* with those....and they are lightly scented!)
This was a light fog, not the usual, so it really produced lovely photos without any effort.
I shall have to check Mon. Walking Stick later today....hope the birds don't think he's an appetizer.... <:-\

Don't you wish that calming serene beauty of early morning could last ALL day, just once, just ONE day? I sure could use 24 hours of calm. Thanks for the beauty in photos and in words, Anne.
I love the walking stick!!
Have a good Monday.

Believe me Audrey, I sure do!
So far I've had to climb the ladder chasing a bug, knocked over a masonite based painting into my leg, lost my thread and needle a half a dozen time and forgot I was going in the house to get breakfast.....
Suddenly, it has become *Real Monday*! LOL!!!
Here's to the walking stick....made my day!

ah...so peaceful and serene...and did you say you live a mile from a road? i am so envious of all the land around you!

Scrumptous views. I want to be a walking stick in your world....xox Corrine

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Lori,

Yes, I am a mile from a main highway, but of course have the country roads close. When it's foggy, it is like a silent blanket, and soooooo nice!
Frankly, I could happily live square in the middle of 100 acres...LOL! If I was rich! ;-D

Hey Corrine,

Can you crawl up the siding??? :-D
heehee! You could just sit on the porch and have coffee and watch the day unfold....that would be good!

ahhhhhh - bliss. Seeing this was a calm intro to my day. Now I'm off to create chaos in my 'new' studio.

Hey M.A.

Glad for those *moments of calm* before facing our *real* lives...LOL!
I'm doing the same thing...had to try and find two drafting sets I haven't used since the dark ages. Luckily, they surfaced.....

Your last photo is so much like my morning view this morning. Very dense fog but now it has burned off and is the sunniest day we have had for a week. always such a peaceful visit here lately, just lovely.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Jan,

The fog burned off soon after I got the shoot done; now sunny, nice and a few puffy white clouds.
I'm actually CLEANING~~the universe may fall apart! LOL! (but I'm not cleaning A LOT......)
Enjoy your sun!

I love that pic of the deck! I could stare at that for a long time - what does that mean, Anne? :) Your photos are so gorgeous. I will be enjoying the sunrises with you soon. Right now I am enjoying not getting out of bed at 6am. Lovely post - so relaxing!! xox Pam

I sure could use some of that solace and beauty. Spent 12 hours in the ER yesterday...mother has viral pneumonia and was admitted to the hospital, cousin just returned after being in the hospital for a month with the West Nile Virus with horrible complications, have a wedding this week that is mandatory, and my nerves are shot...wish I were like that walking stick...just kind of disappear in the trees!! It's pouring rain outside...left windows in the car cracked a bit, but don't give a flip...my car could use the cleansing...think I'll go take a walk!!

Loves ya,
G

Hi Anne!! I'm not being a very good blog follower today--skipping a lot of people's posts and only visiting my favorite people!! Hope you have a good week and I LOVE walking sticks!! I think they are just the coolest!!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Pam,

It just means you appreciate the lovely line and angles! (or that you too need a vaca, along with ME!)
As far as getting up early....I can tell the sun is coming up later here. So I am *NOT* doing the early a.m. routine.....LOL!!!
Glad you enjoyed!

Hey Janet!

Glad you stopped by for Mon. Stick! He was still out on the porch, but getting perilously close to a spider web, so I picked him up and put him in the flowers. Such interesting creatures---they FEEL like a stick too!

We take so much for granted and miss some of life's most beautiful creations, don't we! thanks for the post..hope you are feeling better.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Robbie,

Yes, on a daily basis, I have no idea how much I walk right by and never see. But when I have the camera in hand, well, I guess I *see* things a little different.
This was a fun shoot that sort of fell together with not too much from me.
I like those~~they are always GOOD!

Some great shooting! Wish I had the 'walking sticks' here. I have seen them and one even stowed away in some goods from an arts and craft show once.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Well it was a well educated bug to hide with the art goodies! :-)
I put him into the garden last evening and of course, instant camouflage. Tried to find him to show DH and no such luck.....
Was glad I had *that moment*!
