I Hope You'll Forgive Me.......

I have been a really bad blogger of late.
Not visiting, not posting, the only art happening is through
the camera lens.
(not that this is any less art~~it is my soul!)

Reuse of photos from FaceBook.....*sigh*
Never thought I would be doing that.
Especially when I have more photos that I know where
they are in this computer.....

Dry spells in life, when the creativity is sucked
out of you, wrung out until you are parched and tired.....
Frustrating.
Annoying.
Happening for no reason.
So I sit and wait and wait.
Wondering if my readers go through the same?
(do  you?)
Does one understand?

I know I will rise up out of this, even if it takes a year.
And I will shine.
But for the moment.....I am content hiding behind the lens.
Capturing grace and beauty.
A daily meditation of sorts.
And posting occasionally.
And missing my blog friends through my own laziness.

I will be seeing a Neurologist in early September, and hopefully receive some answers to a plethora of questions. Bear with me on this journey.
I have my suspicions (which are not bad) but need a Dx and then the real answer.....How long does this last?
Until I am making art and filling this space with bawdy humor~~

Pax....

Haha! Ok, so in my excitement I forgot to write you a comment. It's like creative constipation. It's there. Be patient (yeah coming from me) and know that your creativity isn't gone and out partying somewhere. It's just strolling along a bit filling the well of creativity (ala Artists Way). It's evident in the photos you've been taking.

Hi Anne--we all go through these creative slumps--not to be trite, but think of all those little seeds laying in the the ground under the dark earth, just waiting for the right and perfect moment to start pushing their little stems up to the sun and then the glorious flowers that come next!! i love seeing your photos--they are beautiful art--just rest and relax.

You are fine Anne!!!! we all need a little break once and a while!!!!

DANG! Elena got to go first!!! ;)

I think your photos are just like paintings, and are definitely art. Think about what goes into each one that you frame, and how you use your little creative eyeballs, Anne. So give yourself a ton of credit. Me? I think the Summer Freekin' Heat Vampire has sucked the creative juices flat out of me. I am fiddling with things when I thought I would be in full-on creative mode. It's okay. We'll kick into gear here in a few days. We're just letting the creative bucket fill up again. Take care of you! xox

Ah Janet...I know, I know.
I just have the patience of a GNAT and real life always seems to be popping up and throwing curve balls.
I want the artist back, ummm, YESTERDAY???? LOL!!!

Hey Diana,

Thank you for the vote of support but I have frequently wondered if I have ever been *fine*...ah-hahahah!
I need a vaca in Northern Canada....where it is COLD.

Hey Pam,

I'm with ya on the Summer Freakin' Heat Vampire....it's got all the blood; I'm not sure what is left. LOL!
I look at this past 4 months and see just a big waste, a blur, and frustration with it.
I love doing my photos, and yes it is art, but there are other things calling, and I can't quite return their calls.
You know what I mean!
How long till Halloween??? :-D

Anne,

You are forgiven, but it seems that I am just as guilty too! Dry spells are part of the creative process and can't be fought. They always pass with an overflow of energy. Patience!

Until then, we can only offer each other support and understanding.

Wishing you a beautiful weekend,
Brian

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Thanks Brian,

I know that dry spells pass, but boy oh boy, this one is leaving me grumpier than normal. (yes that's bad...LOL!)
I'd rather be out helping you dig stumps; at the end of the day, you can see the work that was done!
Hope you have a great, creative weekend~~love that new work you posted.

I think that the more people fight against their "dry spells," the longer they last. But a dry spell isn't really dry -- you're accumulating experiences and feelings to be the basis for future artistic expression. Or am I just full of B.S., LOL?

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Debra,

You are absolutely NOT full of B.S.!!! LOL!
You're spot on, and I am such a stinkin' fighter that I assume I can bulldoze right through anything.....
Maybe I should just kick back and chill...eh?

i was going to say what pam said, it sounds like the relentless heat might have a lot to do with it.

i think you should come here! santa barbara is a fine place for inspiration. we wake most everymorning to a cool fog, and then when the sun comes out it never reaches more than 80 degrees here on the coast. (but don't go even 10 miles inland or you might find triple digits).

i hope your doctor gets to the bottom of what ever ails you, sending positive thoughts your way anne. and cool ocean breezes too. :)

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Lori,

Yep, that sounds GOOD. I miss California.....I miss New Orleans a little more, but the weather your way is soooo much more pleasant temp-wise.
Cool fog....sounds wonderful!

Oh Anne, I feel for you. I too have felt creative slumps from time to time and I just have no patience for it!! It is so frustrating. And each time I think my muse will never return and my time with art is over (yes i am a bit dramatic! lol but that is how it feels) And eventually she returns. As it will with you.

Being behind the camera lens though is creativity at work!! So hold on to that it will help carry you through!

I will be thinking good thoughts for you in Sept for your doc appt!

Miss you!

xo

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Cathy, I am the same, other than I get really perturbed and just, well, I don't even like being around me! LOL!!!
I also have been having issues with my Dashboard, thus a lack of visiting. Sometimes everyone is there, sometimes not. I pick my fights. (others are having similar issues---like Pam said, it that Freakin' Summer Heat Vampire!)
Everything will return.....it's just the wait!
(and I don't think I could function without my camera!)

I'm just happy you got that appointment...finally! Hang in there, my friend...you will shine once more...not that your humour still doesn't...you're so humble, but your still funny as hell!! Just keep remembering our conversation...toilet paper, broken toilet seat, colonoscapy pics, etc., etc., etc.

Loves ya,
G

Patience, Anne. I think it has been the same for a lot of people lately, myself included. I know it will return. Our creative energy, that is.

These photos, especially that first one, are gorgeous!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

OMG Georgina!!!

They should bottle you~~"Georgin-A-Tol" One dose will keep you laughing for hours!!! (or days, as I recall!)
Humor is still there--just a bit more twisted than the norm.
Oh.
That *IS* frightening.... :-D

Jan...DEAR!

You've known me long enough to know I have an Nth degree of patience on a good day~~LOL!
I think the really weird weather has been rough on everyone, and then the total change in what we do during the seasons.
Maybe a nice early Fall here and the feeling of getting back in the flow.
Going to watch Lord Of The Rings today~~to heck with it all!

Hey there dear BFBBFF....(did I get that right?)

I am late....been *drifting* through life - and the eternal fog....

Speaking as a girl who has no artistic talent - but the camera - your photos are stunning examples of how the camera can create the most magical works of art! You are one talented lady -

I hope the Doctors will finally help you end your problems........

I also hope the heat (gosh, what's that?) will abate soon....and a gentler end of Summer will come come your way.....

Big Hugs!!!

Love,

♥ Robin ♥

Anne, I LOVE your photos...they show us the world from your unique perspective...that IS art! I'm sorry you have to wait all the way until Sept. to see the neurologist...I hate when they make me wait. Sending love and looking forward to bawdy humor:-)

You know, reading your post brought an image to mind from my childhood. We had this plant (I don't remember the name of it) that every winter we had to put into the basement and forget about it. No water, no light, no attention. Then, in the spring it would start growing, we'd bring it upstairs and water it again and it would bear the most glorious flowers. If we didn't ignore it in the winter, no growth, no flowers.

This time you are going through that is making you so impatient (probably less so if you didn't have those migraines) - this is fertile ground for creative work that will knock our socks off! I know it!!

So, enjoy this time, do things you don't usually do, take care of yourself, take photos, talk to your friends, cook, knit, sew ... or not! Whatever you want!!

Love, Silke

Dear dear Anne, you are close to my heart. I have dealt with not being able to be average all my life. That is what it is. Push, push, push for whatever reason, upbringing, as Pondsi said, birth order? Who knows I hear ya. We are all holding each other up along the way, sistas in life. Blessings

Honey, do not bemoan not making art and being content to view the world through a camera lens. Are photos such as yours not 'art'?? I would seriously say they are and I'm pretty darned certain that all your online friends would be more than willing to stand up and say the same!

Carol said...

I've missed so many posts of all my favourite people, and I haven't blogged myself for ages, but I'm so glad I dropped in here to see that you're going to a Neurologist at last. Get that straightened out and then you'll be able to get back to art. And if it takes a while it will be worth it in the end. And of course your photos are art, and so are the beautiful words you put with them. Sheer poetry.

Talk to me Dahling!
I'm waiting, breathless...... ;-D
