Rainy Morning....

After days of heat, I was awakened to the sound of rain on the roof and distant thunder.

Fields temporarily obscured by the much needed downpours.......the fresh smell of rain. Nothing like it.

Tigerlilies standing their ground as the huge drops fell. Everything looking greener already.

The petals unfurling despite the downpour. Beautiful, beautiful!
And my view....

.....Good coffee, sweet mug.....

.....Calm reflections in the puddles.....

.....Look at those water droplets! What a beauty!

.....A single drop containing a whole world.....

The bunnies and I like this day. We can wait for work and other things.
Sometimes you just need to live in the moment, enjoy what is delivered, and take time to see everything.
All storms in our lives will pass.
But I think I'll savor the cloudburst a bit longer.
I bid you....

Pax....

Anne, just beautiful! I opened the front door to let the dogs out and was hit with my favorite (NOT), wall-o-steam! :) You enjoy those slippers and that view, my friend. xox! Pam

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Ugh Pam! I know that Wall-O-Steam too well.....hope some of this comes your way.
It is still raining, and kind of looks like it will do it all day on and off.
I'm in *relax-mode* after too much of late.
The Bunnies and I are going to ENJOY today!
(and not accomplish a thing...)

Ah KJ, Those are my last pair of Bunnies. They are no longer made~~I really need to cut a pattern from one of my old pair that have disintegrated!
I am making this an *Anne-Day*....a little cooking, a little exercise, burning a CD; little things. Good things. Things I enjoy.
And the rain is still coming down! :-)

We had the big heavy downpour early last evening! it was wonderful after days and days of searing heat. It was great while it lasted -unfortunately just added to the humidity!

I'm kind of wondering what will be behind all this nice cloudy rain....I have a feeling that I *know*, so thoroughly enjoying the day!
We used to have lots of summer days like this....*sigh*

Rain?? That's right up there with my "what's a storm" question from the other day. (: I spend hours every evening watering the trees and flowers. Letting the grass turn brown, but I refuse to lose my flowerbeds and trees. It has been an unbelievably hot summer and I will welcome Fall with open arms. When the rain finally decides to fall, I will prance around in it, loving every drop.
Your photos are wonderful, Anne. I especially love your bunny slippers. We've heard so much about them ~ it's nice to see them on your feet!!!
Enjoy the rain! I'm glad you are feeling better!

The rain, while making my *hip-that-isn't-there* ache, is totally worth it!
Just not having the sun out is so sweet. A good day for getting things done in the house, at least a little.
I've only watered my new tree and occasionally a spritz over the flowers, mainly to cool them.
I don't know how anything is still blooming.
I think you need to come over for coffee on the porch....with the Bunnies! ;-)

I've been waiting for rain, glorious rain all day. None yet. I could actually smell the rain from your beautiful photos! Really nice Anne.
Might I perhaps paint the lillies one day? Stunning! And so are your famous bunnies!

Oh, rain, dear rain, please come my way, so I could be less envious of my sweet friend Anne...with her bunny slippers and fiery red mug!!! I could imagine the smell of that lovely fresh from here...It's so unfair, I tell ya! :D :D :D oxx

Cute bunny slippers, and how you capture the beauty of the single rain drop. I like your Tiger Lilies and always have some growing since my mom always did.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Yes Jo, even if it is ONE DAY....it has been wonderful.
I would love to live in a climate that was moderate/cool....where we did not get these awful summers.
The rain was a delight!

Amalia, I would send you clouds and cool rain if I could! <:-)
Better yet, I would fly you here to sit and share the view and DO NOTHING for a few moments! (that would be much better I think)
The Bunnies wouldn't mind company...

Hey Terra,

My tigers came from Mom's house, and they were the ones my grandmother planted. I love them~~they seem to shrug off the heat, the clay, nothing bothers them.
I am 5' 10" and these are taller than ME this year, so they must be happy! (and they seed themselves so easily....)
Some year all I may have is phlox and tigers. ;-D

I love rain at night - in the dark - coming down with such a musical sound. There's been precious little of it this summer, although we've been lucky the past few days and had a few showers. You can almost hear the earth saying 'aaah'.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Yep, that was how it was this morning...everything was just drinking it in. Now we're back to humidity, but had the whole day for the rains to soak in.
Wonderful!
Ready for Fall....

Do you have doc's with bunny ears? Too cute. Nice mug, is that one of your zazzle mugs? Great shots of the rain....glad you got some, hope it cooled things down and gave your plants a big drink. Rain sun rain off and on he, but less muggy, I'll take it. xox Corrine

Hey Robbie,

Looks like we're back to HOT and HUMID; got up this a.m. to completely covered windows, wet with condensation.
I am glad I enjoyed YESTERDAY! :-D

Hiding out today...LOL!

Hey Corrine,

I *wish* they made Doc's with bunny ears! LOL! (although somehow, that would ruin the image...)
We have enough dew this a.m. that it almost classifies as rain......I'm staying in studio and finding mischief. Getting hot again.
And yes, the plants needed that BIG drink!

everything these is so lush and green! we are going brown here from lack of rain after all the flooding in the spring. I mowed yesterday just to tame the weeds. your photos made me smile, especially the slippers :) luv2u!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Di,

My grass in some areas is STILL toasty.....but the flowers and trees (and weeds too!) just soaked up the rain.
And yes, I have many times mowed crunchy grass with weeds sticking out...PFFFT! What a waste! LOL!!!
Seems the same here, after all the Spring rains to have cracks in the ground, but one usually follows the other.
Her's to coffee on a cool porch and Bunny Slipper days!

Thanks for sharing a beautiful rainstorm. Appreciating the moments like these is an important task we too often take lightly.

I think sometimes we are in such a rush we don't see the beautiful in the ordinary.
Or maybe I'm just getting OLD... ;-)

Hey Emma,

With the weather this year, nothing would surprise me. I love when we get rain where I can sit on the porch and enjoy it. (usually it's coming down sideways and blowing like a typhoon...)
Yes, DO visit The Pulse; I know you'll love it!

Yes I enjoyed that rainfall too. We have had a couple in the last two weeks. It looks like the rain forest around our house. Too damn hot for our yard man or yard woman. Just gotta wait it out.
