Cool Morning......Easing Back Into The Groove......

For your amusement......I am sitting in my pajamas and Bunny Slippers with the above earrings on, studio door open, cool air coming in. The birds outside are singing and Sweet Pea is replying. They seem to be enjoying each others company.
The earrings at this hour? It's a Southern thing. Wear your jewelry till you keel over! They were customized for me by my friend Christine Wilson, who does amazing things with bottle caps. True genius. I was thrilled to get them! So much meaning in them as I long to visit the Crescent City again.....
If you have a favorite drink with a metal cap, contact her with an idea and she'll make your dreams come true!
Thank you so much for all the kind comments on my previous post; I have to admit I expected few, if any, due to the subject matter. But again, bloggers are the best support network out there. I am blessed.
The studio has been picked up since I last posted, I stared blankly at a pregessoed canvas yesterday. It chose not to speak to me yet and that is okay. It will be there.....I'll have a sit down with it again today and see what happens.
Life has been hot and humid, as if I was in the sub-tropics, and this delightful morning is being enjoyed to the fullest. I may not be working, but I am saying yes to the present of cool breezes!
Life at it's best is all the little things you know.......
I am getting closer to that 700 post mark and still trying to come up with some sort of giveaway goodie. I think anyone that can blow off at the mouth with such endurance should reward the people who READ! (suggestions are welcome, ya know)
Now I am off to savor the day and maybe crow about it a bit....

at least till the sun comes around to the back of the house.
Till later....

Pax....

Hey! Welcome back. So good to hear from you on this upbeat day.
Now go paint!

Sunshine always answers the birds back also. So cute.

I am tarted up as only I can be....LOL!!!
I am *thinking* about that canvas. ;-)
Thinking hard!

Hey Teri,

Not sure about the paint, but I will definitely stare down the canvas again! LOL! (it will happen in it's own time, like, when I'm supposed to be cooking dinner....)
And I love seeing the birds just sitting and singing!

If those earrings don't keep the zombies away, I don't know what will! They're great!

Hey Debra,

I added the chicken feet for good mojo! ;-)
They are quite fun, and take on a life of their own when wearing! (and no zombies....yet)

I want to see a picture of you in your pj's and bunny slippers with the voodoo earrings on! Come on, Anne!!!! (:
It is cool this morning here in Ohio, too. It's a welcome blessing. Have not missed the high 90s-100s that have been in VA all week.
Taking a break from running around today and going to just unwind and sketch out on my friend's wonderful screened in porch.

LOL, I'd like to see that picture too; bunny slippers and voodoo earrings, that's a fighting combo! Thanks so much for posting about them, I haven't had this much fun with a project in a long time. No staring at the canvas, just enjoy the afternoon beauty and song birds with a nice cold libation. Your song will return. Whack a few bottle caps with a hammer, soooo much fun, just make sure no is standing in the line of fire, they can go flying when you really let loose.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hahahaha!!!!
Yeah Christine, tell the crazy woman to start hitting things with a hammer! ;-D Hmmmmmm.....maybe I will! I need some stress therapy, and the cold libation.
I moved all my art stuff to the cellar to have work space for fabric, so I can hammer till I am deaf.
Which is not that far off...believe me.

Hey lady, sounds like my kind-a morning, but cool breezes out here in this part of the country, have to wait till Oct.!! LOL

Love the earrings...I made bottle cap earrings last year, Day of the Dead. I sent my sis a bunch since she works for a "Chicano" based organization, and they sold like hot cakes, but there are a few more pairs left, so off to AZ to the gallery this year.

Thought of you yesterday. As you know, Wed. is "Miss Daisy" day, and she was waiting for me in her bedroom, looking like I feel...only got about 4 hours of sleep the night before. She said she's been feeling lethargic and her head felt like it was in a balloon. "Well, mom, you are 88 and staring down the barrel of 89 here real soon." So as our conversation progressed, she told me the doc had increased her Paxil...oh righty then, know why you're feeling the way you're feeling!!! LOL "splained what was going on in her bod and brain due to the increase of the drug...she was relieved!!! LOLOLOLOL

Am going into studio today...am taking up a couple of the ADO challenges and try my hand at making a couple of dolls, or actually, one doll and a marionette...oh Lord, can't wait to see what frustration a friggin' puppet is going to bring into my life!! LOL I'm just a sucker for torture!!

Continue enjoying your morning and those cool breezes....I hate you!!!

Loves ya,
G

Your post made me smile as I sip my
Morning Coffee! I can visualise your attire...only YOU, dear "BFF", would come up with auch a great combination! The earrings are great!!! Talk about MOJO!!!!

It appears the "Weather Gods" took pity on us both..you have some cooling breezes....those breezes have left us - a bit...and amid the thick fog, I see a teensy bit of gold and blue......methinks it's the Sun and the Sky!

Oh that photo....to catch a bird in mid-song....that is truly magical!!!! I keep trying to capture my "Mocker" - but he's just too fast for me.... GREAT JOB!

Love,

♥ Robin ♥

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

omgosh...Georgina~~she's on Paxil??? Ay-yi-yi....
And hate me all you want; I need the cool air or I would end up in the nut house! And you wouldn't have someone to make you LAUGH...ahem!
Have fun with the doll/s puppets or whatever that brain of yours dreams up!

Hey Robin,

Ah yes, gotta look good somewhat from the neck UP as everything else from there DOWN is in a state of revolt! LOL!!!
The bird pic was a fluke. I just shoot a bunch and there will be one that has the bird calling. I can't see, even with my contacts in, so it's all just by guess!
Glad you enjoyed this little post...

Hey Anne! I love those earrings. I don't think I could pull them off, but I wish I could. :)) Glad you are up and chirpy (cheep!), and guess what? It is actually NICE outside. It's a MIRACLE!!! So I am headed out the door to do some overdue gardening. Long overdue. ;) Take care! xoxox Pam

I'm still wearing my simple gold studs I got when I got my ears repierced (I originally had them done as a teen with a bar of soap behind the ear and a sewing needle to poke through. A neighbor did the job for free). I have earrings. Truthfully, I am too lazy to change them often. There never seems to be the "right" pair to go with what I am wearing.

We've been waking to cool breezes too. Nights have been down to 68-70 degrees which is so different than the last nine baking summers we've had in Kingman, AZ. I can imagine how good a cool breeze can feel when it's humid and hot out!

Glad you are feeling better.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Of course you could Pam.
You just need to be like me and not care what anyone thinks!

Great earrings. So the Blackbeard Voodoo part are bottle caps? cool. I may have to start making my beer selections by bottle cap instead of by taste. Somewhere I had gotten one with a black dog on the cap and I stupidly gave it to someone who collects bottle caps. I have been on the lookout for that beer ever since to no avail.

I hope you truly are feeling better these days. It seems like you have been going full bore for about 2 years now, I imagine it finally caught up to you and your body is saying to give it a rest! Listen! Rest! Enjoy your summer as much as you can because you know what winter will bring. Here in Oregon we are wondering if summer is going to skip us again this year. I'm not complaining because everyone else seems to complain about the heat, it is pretty comfortable here even though we don't have much sun. Well I have blithered on long enough, hope you enjoy your gumbo! Wash it down with one of those Blackbeard Voodoo beers!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Yep Jan, that is the very top of the bottle caps. Those were pre-Katrina; the tops now are plain, as Dixie is rebuilding...I think....and the beer is being made by other companies.
I think you're right about the need for serious rest.....did some weeding, some cooking and mostly enjoyed the day. I am taking a few more off and see if that doesn't do the trick for feeling better.
If not, there's always a cool libation! ;-D

Can't wait to see what you do with your 'gesso' piece! And good you are getting back into it!! I know Christine from years ago when she was a quilter and was part of our Postal Quilter's Round Robin group for a few years! Her beadwork is AMAZING!

i don't need the entire image, just the bunny slippers will do. i think you are a woman BORN for bunny slippers, anne.

there is something about a bird on a wire that is always fascinating, but you've also captured this bird in mid squeak, with that little red streak. very nice!

go forth and let it rip, anne

So good to know you are also an habitual earring wearer. The moment I'm out of the shower, on go the earrings. Rest, relax, recover. xx

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Robbie,

I can't wait to see what happens either! It is base coated with color, but still is whispering and not SPEAKING....LOL! I may stare at it again today; this is another day off day.
I got to meet Christine when she came down my way to visit relatives and felt like I had known her for years; very nice and fun! And talented with the metal works for sure!

Hey Karen,

At my age, the phrase *Let Rip* can have a very negative connotation......ah-hahahahaha!!!! ;-D
I have had bunny slippers for YEARS, and now cannot find them. I am on my last pair and am wondering what on earth I will wear when these little guys are too tattered to walk in.
That redwing blackbird was one of the more cooperative birds I've photographed; they're not too skiddish and call a lot in the evening, so getting it mid-peep was just a matter of burning off several shots.
Now off to see what I can get into today....not much; it's a good lazy day!

Hi Anne! Yesterday was cool here too and for the first time in a couple of weeks I was able to get outside and walk! lol I don't do well in the summer humidity. I melt pretty quick! lol Glad to see you blogging a bit. I know what you mean about the blank canvas . . . I have one of those staring me down too!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Cathy,

I'm the same...when I can't get outside I don't function as well, and I sure cannot take the humidity.
It's pretty nice this morning, might try fir a quick walk and then in for the day before the heat sets in. Not sure how hot it's to get but thinking in the high 80'2 and I can feel the damp coming back.....ACK!
Or maybe I'll go stare at my canvas! LOL!!!

Hey Kim,

I could do with 12 days of quiet to just tinker with art; right now, there are not enough hours in the day for me to relax back into work. I really *need* that alone time.
But I know when you get too much of it, it gets to you.
