WOW!!!! This is so beautiful, I am very glad you posted many photos so we could get a nice, close look at the fabulous details. I can see how one could simply immerse themselves in the pure joy of stitching this piece. Wonderful work!
You made this whole thing? OMG it is amazing, it is absolutely beautiful. what will it be used for? it seems like it is a 'religious' item. please tell us more . . .
Oh Anne it is beautiful. I know what it is for. It is indeed work from the soul for the service of The Lord. I know the feeling of meditation that goes into making something so special. Used to make altar cloths when I was younger. Blessings to you. QMM
Oh, Anne, it is beautiful. Did you give it to him yet? What did he say? Did he love it? Was he totally surprised? You are a beautiful soul, Anne. ♥♥♥ audrey
This is Awesome in the true sense of the word. I am awestruck. Perfection.
Except for that ink stain on the white collar. bummer. (whoops, she ducks and runs for cover just in time to miss getting hit by the thrown Doc's. I just didn't want all that well deserved praise to go to your head;-J
SPECTACULAR It looks so amazing. I know what you mean when you are working with beautiful fabrics it is like a drug you get lost in that space and time. It is like a drug but sew much better. Your work is breathtaking. Congrats girl. Be proud when you see it walk down the isle of the church.
Holy moly, Anne. And I don't use those words lightly - lol!! I love these colors, and all the rich texture. Those little pearls! Sigh. It is just lovely, and it 'reads' so beautifully from a distance. Good job, my friend! xoxo Pam
Wow, I keep staring and staring at the photos, Anne!! This is amazing - the fabric and your work. The colors, the texture and the overall feel of it! Simply incredible!!! Can't wait to see the green one... Love, Silke
Hi all!!! If I have your e-mails on comments, I will reply that way. This is a stole for the season of Pentecost~~thus the rich red color. One thing I do want to point out, I purchase the plain gold crosses; I believe they are made in Greece, as well as the metal bullion fringe. Everything else, I do, and mostly by hand. I was counting actual machine made seams and they were few...! LOL! The crosses are usually mounted on two layers of thick felt to bring them forward (I think I am the felt queen...LOL!), beads, pearls, threads laid on.....beads following the fabric pattern, etc. Sometimes it's hard to know when to STOP. I mean, it is liturgical....Anne, you're not making a theater costume, or for the Opera. And yes, he liked it, and it FIT well (always my worry) and was perfect under the lighting. There was a shimmer, a glow......JUST RIGHT!
Holy Guacamole, woman....this has to be your masterpiece!!!!!!! This is absolutely one of the most beautiful things I've seen and I've seen lots of beauty!! So proud of you...you are the best!!
You know, I was going back through some of my photos of handwork, and now being distanced from the projects......they're beautiful! I get so focused in the moment that sometimes I think I miss HALF of what is going on! Grazie! Grazie!
What if, indeed?? I don't know who I thought made pieces like this but I thought they were manufactured in some factory. The work we do that brings the feelings you were talking about in your last post is the work of the heart and soul. The work that we do to make money is the work that keeps us able to do the work of the heart and the soul. Anne this is glorious!!! I love that you put Steven's name in it!!
Honestly Marie, most of them are. I have catalogs from some of the *good* liturgical sewing factories, and they do lovely work, but there is a certain *sameness* to it. Years (and I do mean YEARS) ago, the nuns did a lot of this work, and occasionally you can still find a convent that will do it. And they did STUNNING work. I love doing these, and the ones I have done definitely bear the *Anne-trademark-of-glitz* but not TOO much...LOL!
You are just so amazing. I knew you did work like this but I had no idea just how beautiful it would be. Can you feel the admiration pulsing from down-under? And your words expressing your feelings about working like this are just perfect. Wow!
I am seriously looking at doing these as a side line job, if there is interest. I love doing them....really LOVE them as much as art, except I feel like it is a little higher calling for me. I figure I can manage both~~one should help support the other! ;-)
Just Beautiful. Your hands are Truly Blessed by Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. You are heaven sent to Steve, and the ministries that you serve and will serve with the pure talent that God has Blessed you with.
Thank you~~I think we both were directed to each other...so we would know we were not the only people out there with that particular tenacity to ignore what we need to hear and just keep moving! LOL!!! And you KNOW what I mean! Glad you stopped by.....abundant blessings!
