Good Art News!!!

Today I shipped off two boxes of art I had been frantically working on after being accepted into a delightful gallery in Missouri, and the best part is two other bloggers are there also! Silke and Cathy both will have work hanging along with mine and I couldn't be happier! (and I know they are excited too~~check their blogs to take a look-see at their work)
I know the blog has been a bit ignored of late, but I have found that I can only manage so many irons in the fire at once anymore.....LOL! And painting/mixed media always seems to come first, leaving me little oomph at the end of the day.
The piece above is paint, paper, pastel.....a lot of mixed media fun despite the short deadline. Of course, trying to get things to DRY was a bit interesting, to say the least!
So here's to those of us who rose to the occasion and put our art out there, and here is to Kathleen for giving us the opportunity to show!
All of us..... ;-D

That is such wonderful news! And what eye candy from looking at your piece here, hopping over to Silke and Cathy's blogs and then FB to see the gallery. All of it is so very beautiful. Congratulations!!!

Gloria said...

Congrats!! Yes I knew about Silke and Cathy and am so happy for you too. It's always great displaying the work we so work hard on. There was a time when I displayed downtown, or in restuarants, or at the small gallery we have but as of late haven't really been too involved with the Modesto artist club we have here. I am very happy for you, YAY!! You go girl! Don't forget to post pictures of the gallery when they put up your goodies.:)

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Thanks Christine!

I'm still in a dither that it is DONE and MAILED! LOL....
We all seemed to pass the word around at the same time and then it was a matter of me producing what I wanted to send....ack!
(but I am sure you understand...)

Jan said...

Great news, Anne. I think you have your priorities straight, art first, everything else can wait. I like this piece you are showing us, simple yet delightful. Good luck in the new venue.

Debra She Who Seeks said...

Congrats! Art must come first. We understand that.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Jan,

It's because I have to make LISTS and stick to them...hahaha!
I swear, I did not think that the varnish would dry; it was when we were getting all the rain and even with the dehumidifier, it was dicey....
I hope folks like the work....

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Gloria,

You snuck in there! ;-D
I used to be active locally but find sometimes it is easier just to ship off work and not have to deal with some of the other aspects.
I'm good with this, I think it will be nice and enjoyed doing the work, so it's all win-win.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hi Debra,

Yes, art always worms it's way in first, even when I should be tending to other things! (like the house or laundry...haha!...I still have clothes!)
It just feels good to know it's on the way...I can breathe now!

Cathy Bueti said...

YAY!!! Excited for you Anne! I know the feeling when you get those boxes on the way! My hubby had to help me pack up a big box of my stuff last week and I was nervous mostly because of the framed photography! But everything arrived in one piece friday!

Thanks for the shout out! Here's to all of us and the lovely Kathleen!!

Well said!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Cathy,

I hear you on the nerves...and I have shipped a lot of art, but anymore, oy! And especially with yours being framed!
It's kind of funny now that they are sent, I'm sitting here with a list thinking, what??? LOL!!! ;-D

Dolly Smith said...

yay you! Accomplishing anything is wondrous, but accomplishing something to interact with the world is MIRACULOUS!

Happy Dead Terrorist greetings, Dolly

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Dolly, you are a HOOT!
Yes, that was a surprise this a.m. as hubby and I were both reading/studying last evening and did not have the TV on.....
And yes, it is MIRACULOUS that I got this stuff DONE and OUT!

Silke said...

Isn't it the most fun?!? Well, packing the big box wasn't so much fun, but it's out there waiting for UPS to pick it up! yeah!!!! I think for me the favorite part is that even though we have never met in person, your art, Kelly's and Cathy's and mine will all hang together in one gallery. How cool is that?!?! Love, Silke

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

I know Silke! It's like the BEST in being in a show; this blog/FB gang, all there! And we do such different work but I think it will complement each other well.
And packing the boxes was not fun at all....and making sure the hangers, etc were all on. Oh my, I need to do that as I make things instead of waiting!

"MOI" Freubel said...

What a honor Ann !!
Congrats !!!
BTW...I had to laugh about the "Happy Dead Terrorist greetings" from Dolly

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hi Rian!

Yes, Dolly and I have a bizarre sense of humor!!! And we don't worry about using it either...hahaha!
Appreciate the congrats!
We're all celebrating. :-)

Hey Girls,

Thanks!!! Now let's hope this all translates into some sales~~because those would be another thing to celebrate, eh??
It is too bad we all live so far apart as a blogger meet up would be most fun!!!

What a happy piece!! They're going to LOVE it Anne! I especially love the black and white polka dotted roots :)

I'm glad you're showing again. Yay for all of you!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Lolo,

It was a conduit of bloggers that got me the connection; hooray for Blog-Friends!!! :-D
I thoroughly enjoyed the pieces I made, and that is half the battle. If you love what you're making I think it sort of glows in the final product!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Okay, I got my replies backwards again! LOL!!!
Mary Helen, thanks~~I think it might be run similar to how you do your studio, with teaching as well as showing, which I like! I think that is a vital part of the whole art experience.
Luthien, yes, exciting times for sure! (and good exciting too, as opposed to the normal excitement I have here...heehee!)
When everything arrives safely, I shall exhale!

Marie S said...

That is a lovely bunch of hearts, Anne.
I am so happy for all three of you!!
Way to go and good luck with the gallery.
Yay for you guys!!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Marie!

Can you see me doing a frighteningly awkward happy dance here??? LOL!!!! (hopefully, NO.....)
Thank you for the well wishes!

Jo Murray said...

Congratulations Anne. It will be a joyous experience. The creative 'blogging' community is awesome.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Thanks Jo~~it really is amazing how bloggers just hop to it and send info on. Sometimes I know I probably spend *a little* too much time here, but on the other hand, the rewards of meeting people are so worth it!

The Garden Bell said...

Where have I been? I thought you stopped blogging. Oh, me, Oh, my.... back to check my list. Thanks, for popping by so I knew.....

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

I have had trouble with things coming up in the dashboard; I had a few blogs I had to re-enter the addy to get them to show.
I also thought one of my followers had stopped blogging~~the posts just were not showing up! ;-)

Hi Girls!!!

Whooo--Hoooo! Party time at El Milagro! (well, maybe a glass of wine or a good New Orleans beer!)
Yes, this is when I wish we all could inhale hard and shrink the distance, hang out and make art!
But now I'm back to the reality of finishing dinner after a quick run around the yard on the J.D. to whup the grass into submission...LOL!
Thanks to you all for your nice words. :-)
