Limited Palette

I am a fickle mistress;
In other days, your colors would not call.

Sweet whites so different from the Winter's snow,
All close, embraced within each others arms.

The grays and greens of faerie drapings,
Awaiting small magic hands to cut and sew.

My prejudice is lifted as now, the lowly weed~~
A joy to see, decked out in crystal beaded finery.

And sturdy regimental soldiers,
Push forth from under skeletal leaves.....

A delicate and frilly denizen sparkles,
Amongst the remnants of the Fall.
Soft, now, and melting earthward.

And one lone bud,
Quite brazen, waiting,
For the sun of Spring.

Thus life returns in moments
Hidden and unwitnessed.
But proudly shines
In garden hidden~~
Almost.
Tis magic,
Not the soil I know.

Good morning! Beautiful photos and lovely poetic verse. Wish we had some vision of spring here. Total rain for the last two days with on and off freezing bits tumbling from the sky. I am working in a office this week thank goodness my last day is today. Long days without my stitching.

Beautiful, beautiful! I love the contrast of the green against those grey-browns. We are getting soaked with rain here today, so I expect that by the weekend Maryland will be green again - YAY!!!!!!! :)) xoxo Pam

I had walked by these items numerous times....then yesterday I was out there and saw one snowdrop, which usually means other things are beginning to pop. Walked in the rain getting a few photos and was surprised at the *GREEN* of the little guys!
Of course, I think everything will be put on hold for a few more days....LOL!!!

Oh Elle,

We went through so many feet of the white stuff this year, I feel like a large Popsicle! I don't like Spring storms, but the little moments like these? They are THE BEST!!!

So succulent! Spring here is going from cold and snow to hot and dry in one week but that's Arizona for you.
Missing the green just a bit.

Hey Peggy!

Good to hear from you~~I bet you have more green there than we do!
I just hope my magnolia stays tightly in the buds...I hate years when I lose it to late cold spells....and it is TOO BIG to cover!

Lovely photos, Anne, and your words just enhance them beautifully. Not so sure about your reference to "faerie droppings" though.

Wait a second. We don't have these popping yet. Just not fair. Lovely and a pleasure to have stopped by. It's been a while.

The new life really is a wonderful juxtaposition with the decaying leaves of winter! You'd think we wouldn't even want to see SNOWDROPS either because they contain that four letter word! They are sweet and delicate though.
It's pouring here, but much warmer. I'll take it! And the entire west coast is bracing for a possible tsunami spurred by japan's quake.

What a freaking mess sometimes! No wonder I stay hidden :D

I enjoyed the prose too, Anne. Really fitting with the images.

Stay warm and dry!

Gorgeous photos, beautiful words. We rarely, if ever, see such little images here, it never gets cold enough to start warming up. Oh, I'm probably feeling jaundiced after such a long spell of heat, humidity and no rain - but it really is lovely to see the signs of spring from your end of the world.

Loved the words and photos too. Spring is zooming by here, and bringing crazy weather to boot. At least (keeping my fingers crossed) we don't have snow!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

This morning we have rain-rain-rain.
Which doesn't mean we won't see snow-snow-snow.....
It *is* Indiana.
