Gales Of November.......

Last evening was one of those odd November events that we get---I was channeling the song "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald" as the wind buffeted the studio door to the point that I thought it would burst open. After checking radars, I saw tornadoes had cut through parts of northern Illinois and so of course, decided I needed to go outside with camera to see  if there was anything of interest to shoot.

The logic of this idea was questionable.......it's hard to stand and frame-up in 45 mph. wind, even carrying my extra weight! (lol!) I also made the decision to harvest some of the seedpods from the tulip tree--a questionable choice for sure!--due to predictions of 65 mph winds later in the night.
The other odd thing was the sky did not give it's secrets.....there was just a lot of overcast and few real clouds when I went out. But it was far too warm; we had been in the 60's all day and for heaven's sake--this IS November! (it's also Indiana......nuff said)

The only hint of the workings on the top side of the clouds was a slice with pink; a thunderhead peeping over the grey blanket, a few skeletal fingers of low cloud creeping across the ether and gathering steam as they crawled.

It wasn't long after I shot the photos that everything turned black and stayed that way until the clouds broke loose at 9 and thrashed the area.
I am hoping I have all the siding on the house---I haven't been out for a walk-around yet. But, I am very thankful for making it through all right, and I hope my other friends west of me are okay too.
Enough of this! Let's just have Winter and get it going.
And now, I am off on errands and studio work (not in that order!) and will check blogs probably after the holiday. I am woefully behind but amazingly busy.
Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving~~~I am sure, in our hearts, we all have a lot to be thankful for.

Pax....

Hi Anne Sweetie...
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours from my family.

I am so happy that you survived the wind and are still standing tall this morning. I hate tornadoes and I really hate the wind when it gets up there in mph. Siding must still be intact if you aren't feeling any cool breezes this morning.

I am always happy to see you post. Love ya girl. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald!!! Only Anne! I can just see you out there, holding on to a post, camera in the other hand, blonde hair flying! That first shot is a stunner and most definitely worth your near death experience. Now try to stay out of trouble today, will ya???

Glad you survived the storm. It is 24 degrees here and everything is covered with snow and ice. It is gorgeous out, the sun has just peeped over the trees. Hope all your siding is intact. Hope your migraine has passed. Hope you have a Thanksgiving with much thought towards things you are thankful for. Take care.
