While I am busy with the commission, I thought I would post a few more of my old *Anne-Tangles* for your amusement, disgust, or any other emotions that might bubble to the surface.....LOL!
Below is the second one I tried----a bit better than the first as I discovered the use of repeating pattern.
Finding your own personal *voice* in repetitive pattern is kind of odd. I was talking online with Elena over at My Quest as she had done a few and she said "I don't want you to think I took your pattern!" Well.....it isn't mine and all these tend to look alike to a certain extent. But you do find that after doing a few and looking for lines, dots, shapes, you will end up with a *vocabulary* of pattern that is uniquely yours. I could see it start on this one. The woven background--well, you see that everywhere. Looking for things I could repeat from the sliver of magazine paper, disguising what was really there and discovering my "hairy olives"----I really like those!
One of Elena's pieces had what I swore was a guitar fretboard as the magazine slice! Come to find out, it was a boardwalk---so we all see things differently! Which really, is what makes these fun.
Below is one I started while laying on the couch last night--too tired to think.
I hate it. I hate that big honking daisy-looking thing and don't know where it is going.
But I work them through to the end, and I fill the page. That is the hard part, but also what makes them work. FILL THE PAGE. FILL IT!
Another thing I failed to mention before is that you need a heavy sheet of paper behind the doodle you are working on as there is bleed through. Ooops! Sorry......the brain is not what it used to be.
I do know this: I have to learn to LOVE that daisy! Because it has become the focal point quite by accident! But maybe, when everything else is filled in, it will receed a little. Or maybe a lot! (don't burst my bubble......let me dream!)
In the meantime, I am here issuing a challenge to Elena to finish the pages she started, because they are GOOD and I want to see them done.
And I think I heard everyone else say they do too.....hee, hee, hee! ;-D
Pax....

Yep you heard right...I say finish them too Elena :)
Hey MArilyn,
We had rain last evening and during the day---I am hoping it is cooler today though every place I bend says "no"...LOL!!!
I want to get that second monstrosity done too---but was too tired to take it any further after a day in studio and in meetings.
Maybe today, when Gary has an appt. in town..... ;)

Doing 'tangles' seems to calm us and stimulate our creativity at the same time. Looking forward to seeing the completion of this one.
It is surprising that something so completely unrelated to my other art can do so much to either clear my mind or get me prepped for more work.
I would love to have someone do an analysis on the *whys* of it....

I love the "zen" aspect of the doodles....I'm starting more again, as I feel they will clear my head of obnoxious little teenagers who think they're entitled to everything...oops, sorry - that's another post.....
Hey Linda!
ROFL!!! Yep, it's amazing what they clear out of the skull; I think it is that it is repetitive movements. Kind of like a meditation of motion with a pen....and no snotty teens!!! ;D

I knew we thought a like. My whole last posting was about doodling. Perfect for the soul.
And Kate, I was going to comment but was in a time crunch--had to leave for a meeting and then the brain was elsewhere when I came home......*sigh*......I think it was packed in a box or something! Too much to do all at once!
Doodling is good for the Soul!

These look like a fun and relaxing way to just let loose. I'm sure your daisy will turn into something you like. I saw online yesterday a post about a recent "Create" workshop where a group of people did a fabric painting together. Everyone just randomly painting on a large fabric canvas, switching back and forth between two of the paintings. At first it looked not very promising but at the end it was quite fabulous and exciting. I'm sure your daisy doodle will turn out the same. Just have fun, right? that's what it is about. not a struggle.
I love the Anne-tangles Anne.
Have a magical weekend.
That does sound interesting Jan.
Yes, these are just cut loose things---in some way problem solvers. I think they let you deal with design elements in a completely non-threatening way. Which is the interesting part.
The mind just shuts up. The artists comes out....

Ah Marie,
I need to have a productive weekend. I mean, a REEEEEALLY productive weekend. *sigh*
And I get to schedule my nervous breakdown when???

Nice work, Anne! Zentangles are such fun to do and quite relaxing. I haven't done one in ages but I tend to start at a point on the page and just keep adding to it so it continues to grow into whatever my mind chooses 'cos I sure have no idea. lol
Hey Serena,
I find when I sit to work on these, I have no ideawhere I am starting. Something just leads me to an area, and then it goes from there. It seems mindless, but I am sure there is some subconcious guiding that goes on.....
It will be fun posting more as they did improve as I went.
However....that ugly daisy-thing.....ooooooo....I don't think THAT part will improve! LOL!!!

Hi Anne, I was not able to comment on your most recent post so came here to comment. I pray for healing for your health problems you mentioned, and completion of your wonderful creation for the church and hope you will soon return to blogging. I will look for you on Facebook.
THE PATTERN IS REALLY REALLY COOL!!!!!
love the details :))
Hi Mita,
They improve---trust me! On I will post after getting my big work further done looks very much like Oriental design---kimono in particular.
At least that os what I see....it is interesting to see what others see in them!

Hi Anne,
Well done on the zentangles.
Lurve the abstract piece from magazine that breaks up the final piece. Ah, bit of pizzaz and Sooo relaxing {sounds like you could do with more of}
Hugs,
Anna
Argghhh! LOVE your Anne-tangles though....thanks for your help and advice!
ANNE!!! What a fabulous shot of the corn field!!! I love the glare of the sun, the red sun spot, and the edging technique you used. I think you need to come over this afternoon, have a Bud Light Lime at the cantina, a quick dip in the pool, as it is still warm enough to swim, and then we shall polish off a bottle of wine in the jacuzzi with the bubbles on and coconut scented. **blows healing kisses** Deb
