Don't you just love those days when everything is starting to emerge and you know it just takes one warm day for the flowers to burst forth! Is that a birch tree? I love them - we had on in our yard growing up and it was my favorite tree. Except for the larch tree - because that one was great to climb on. Well, and the giant willow tree - because that one was great to hide under... Wishing you a most wonderful day! Love, Silke
Hey Silke,
Yes, that's a paper birch, one of the TEN I planted that survived. The rest sort of died miserably. Maybe i have one more, but that's the healthy one. Our winters really get too cold for them here and this one is in between other trees.
I love it right before things bloom, but am always sooooo hesitant; we seem to perpetually get hit with a late freeze and there is nothing more mournful than a magnolia with completely withered buds.....sniff!
Keeping fingers crossed....

I try so hard to keep my spirits up with my constant talks with God but in light of the upcoming surgery, yet again, I am weary!!
I love these photos!! Thanks for the pick-me-up!!
Love you Anne!!

Gorgeous photos Anne! With these warm days coming I'm sure things will start bursting through!
Hey Marilyn,
I understand completely....off to my Dr this a.m. and we'll see what is in store.
I guess we just hit that age where our social life revolves around white coats......sigh.....
Big hugs to you dear!!! Glad I could brighten the day a bit!!!

Hi Elena!
Yes, it all pops at once....you have to move quick with the camera and hope the cold doesn't kabollox everything.
Yes, that's a word but it's probably spelled wrong! :D

I am waiting with baited breath for my cherry tree to bloom. I am going to stand in the yard with my camera waiting. LOL! I'm like you, worried some freak snow, or windstorm, will come barreling through and take all the blossoms. LOVE the birch. Now I want to plant one. My mom used to have a little 'grove' in her back yard. :) Thank you for all the giggles yesterday. Any fireants will be returned COD. haha! xoxoxox Pam
Oh Pam, I have a weeping cherry that is soooo close to opening....I walk by all the time! It's too big to cover and I am paranoid. I just KNOW it will get zapped! LOL!!!
Yes, just tell the fire ants they have to play nice and come home....or I'll come after them with the ant spray!
OMG!!! That was too funny!!!

yay! lovely photos- glad to see that spring is making it to you too!
OOooooo Anne! Springalicious! LoVe the lighting you captured on the pansy, or is it a pansy? Spring green, Easter green...nothing like it. Excellent post! **heavy sigh** Deb
Beautiful photos! Don't you just love birch trees with the peeling bark!
Well Spring has sprung here...going to be 84 degrees today and sunny. That's great, right?? Then add 85 degrees, howling 40-60 mph winds and blowing dust and you have to keep the house shut down as to not let ALL the bloody dirt in and hopefully, you can get those ceiling and oscillating fans to cool the place down!!! Yea, happy Spring!!!
Oh, don't listen to me, I'm a bit of a grump right now, but the weather isn't that bad right now, it's just when we get those horrid dust storms, it SUCKS!!!
Love ya,
G
OMG, Anne...that birch is a work of art in itself!...it really caught my eye. You have given great inspiration here!..love it..
It lovely and sunny here..but still feels cold to me...however, supposed to get warm this weekend!
Good news..my daughter is coming for the weekend!..yea! We always have such fun together..
I am hanging in there...doing ok!
xoxo, gypsy
Anne that last picture is what I am trying to get for FSO, they are calling the technique 'bokeh' but my camera cannot do that. I am so disappointed. Oh well on to the next thing. I am in awe of all your post.

Spring enters our hearts like a woman performing a ballet...she decides when and where she will make her stage entrance. The white paper birch is so elegant and lovely...have a great week. Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
oh Anne!!!! these photos make me so so happy!!! what a wonderful fresh start!!! I love Spring!!!
what beautiful photos!
I"m so envious of your walk; we've had rain for four straight days. The world here is one big mud puddle.
Betula papyrifera!!!
There!!!
You did it.
Tsup!!!
mmm... lovely! Looks like you're seeing more spring than central Iowa has seen yet. Hopefully we'll be catching up this week! I'm anxious to go exploring with my camera. Have a super week!
Hey all!
Sorry for a mass response....I am running exceptionally late, had to go WALK because SOMEONE has been eating too much......grrrr.....and feel like I have been run over with a truck! LOL!
It was pure clay mud when I was out taking the pics and I am surprised I did not end up on my nether regions! We have had more than our share of rain and everything is a big mess. Selective cropping is the secret to beautiful pics!
Deb, that is a two-tone wild violet. I have three colors of violets and they sort of pop up all over, though usually taller.
Spring is very slowly on it's way, though they are saying storms on Sunday, which is Indiana all over. ICK.
I'll try and get back to blog hopping tomorrow.....I need to hustle and work today!
Ces--Mental Ninja! Thank you for the latin classification!
To all,

Your garden is WAY ahead of ours. Today I noticed a teeny tiny bud of green on one of the shrubs and the tulips are finally poking through the ground. DH got carried away with the bed the snowdrops where in and they've met their Waterloo, so we don't even have those to cheer me up. So...all that drivel to say thanks for the photos!
Jealous, lots. We are no where near so ready for the Spring display, altho, some of the MANY bulbs we planted in the church garden are poking the wee green heads out and getting prepared. Lucky!
Beautiful photos and great captions!
Hi M.A.!
Hey, I had to look hard to find those tidbit od Spring. I have leaves showing in the beds, but flowering anything is scarce. It is supposed to warm this week, so that should send things into bud or blossom.
I just have a chipmunkf-from-hell destroying my flowerbeds.....I have no idea what will be left! What I posted? That may be IT! LOL!!

Anne
Hey Leslie,
I wsh I could plant more bulbs, but I choose not to feed the varmint that I mention in previous reply......
I hate chipunks......grrrrrrr...
XXOO!!
Anne
Thanks Jan!
I bet you have things in full bloom out there; your climate is so temperate compared to ours.
I keep checking my narcissus every day......lots of leaves, no blossoms. I suppose they need seperation too.
Oh well!

These photographs are beautiful, Anne. I especially love the birch. Alas, the large King Crimson Maple tree we had planted last Fall in the front yard did not make it. We have a River Birch on order to replace it - should be here in another week or so. I know I will love it.

Hi Anne,
I hope your feeling well.
You've really captured the start of spring. Great shots.
Hugs,
Anna
HAHAHAHAHA! I am imagining you. I need to walk too. I ate three oranges. Ugh!
Well, Ces.....after the DR. visit....I will be walking a LOT, little SALT, different MED.....and I took him cookies too!!!
I knew I had gained weight but, OY. Not quite what I expected.
We'll see when I am in 6 weeks when I do the follow up.....
I really hate dieting. >:(

The peeling tree bark and the buds! Hooray! Spring has SPRUNG.
We've got a resident robin - very agressive re territory, and collecting nesting material like mad. Totally fearless - my husband was throwing down some bits of bread and the robin was there even before he finished... and a little later, was facing off two fat woodpigeons around 6 times his size.
Hi Susie!
We have the same problem with robins here, except they want to nest in our porch lights, and I always have to take the bits out before they get a nest built.
Sometimes I think I'll be wearing a dive bombing robin in my head....they're just MEAN anymore! (funny, but ornery!)
