The Flitting Creative Muse

With everything going on of late; transitioning from sewing back to art, trying to rearrange and clean this thing I laughingly refer to as a studio, doing the Wonder-Wife jobs and trying to find my art muse again---who I am pretty sure has decided to head off to Tahiti and is leaving no forwarding address, in a moment of *why-do-I-even-DO-this???* I came across this video, which is 19:32 long, and worth all of it.
It speaks to the creative process, how it has been looked at through the ages, how it is looked at now and what we can do to help ourselves not end up in the bug-bin.......glassy-eyed and filled with a sedative!
I would recommend if you have the time, to watch....or come back and watch later. It is funny along with being informative, and for any artist that has felt like they are in a wine-press, having the creativity squeezed OUT of them drop by drop, it is a good release and laugh, and gives us the impetus to keep moving forward, in a semi-sane fashion.
With humor.
Of course!

I may be scarce for a few days; I am on a bit of a roll in trying to catch up with a years worth of house type things and will have to plan something for Easter so I am calling this my week off. Off my rocker, off most of my work on the computer, off in la-la land......Just OFF! :-D
Maybe mext week I will be a little better organized and full of oomph and pith and ready to go gung ho at the world and the blog again!
In the meantime, enjoy and hopefully I have this properly installed so it plays.
Otherwise, this is going to be one DULL post! LOL!!!
Holiday Blessings to you all.......

Pax.

I've watched this video several times already and just love it!! I think you and I are in the same mode this week. I've finished our tax returns on Tuesday, waded my way through mountains of paperwork yesterday and got it all filed and organized (I try to keep it all in one storage box we can take with us if we have to evacuate for a hurricane), and today I am going to rearrange furniture and get my studio set up differently. It's the spring organizing bug. In the meantime, I almost forgot that this Sunday is Easter. Where has the time gone?! Wishing you a great Off week!! Love, Silke

Hey Silke!

Same here---it hit me yesterday I would have to COOK for Easter (how did it get here so fast???) and found a duck in the freezer, sooooo....that's probably going to be IT!
Sometimes, you just have to focus on everything else for a bit. And when I do, I find myself having a hard time restarting on what I need to do in the studio.
I did enjoy the video; I'm not big for loading one on the blog, but this one was okay!

I love Elizabeth Gilbert. I will have to come back later today to watch!!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Marianne...I think I need about four months of downtime, but I am one of those stinking personalities that JUST WON'T DO IT.
I can't sit still, but am hoping to at least get something productive done this week/weekend!

Hi Janet,

I love Elizabeth too....am working my way slowly thru Eat, Pray, Love and have found it quite interesting thus far.
I hate posting long video clips because everyone has so little time but this one sort hit home and I figured it might be a good listen.
Have a good week! (what's left!)

i am looking forward to watching this....right after i get the hens situated and work on my garden. time is critical now. Good luck with your down time, marianne is right, its these times that are the slow cookers for the ideas that manifest in art later. happy easter! i hope your meal and day is fabulous.

Hey Chickory,

I miss my garden, though we don't really ahve the soil for it here. Fought about ten years with it, and finally gave up. Clay, too much rain and varmits!
Off to face the days tasks---have a good weekend!

My dalink', you do what you have to do and do it, or not...hey, it's you life. I use a saying in Spanish a lot when people feel they're up against a wall..it's sounds better in Spanish, but it's translatable, but it's, "?Quien te manda?" or simply said in good ol' Engles, "Who commands you?"

So that said, go take care of stuff and more importantly, yourself. I read your email and I will be responding soon, since I feel a little overwhelmed myself right now, but I will respond and update you on all this crapola. So take care, God bless and buy yourself a box-o-wine!!

Love ya mucho,
G

Have at your chores! We all have to break down and do it occasionally!

Good luck getting your studio in shape - I'm trying to do that right now... and not making the best headway. My shelves have become non-functional. They're so loaded with stuff that I can't find anything. argh!

There is nothing left in the cranium.

Hi Anne! I am taking some time to get organized, too. Sometimes you can step over it, and sometimes you step in it. LOL! Enjoy your day! xoxoxo Pam

Hey Pam,

Or the other option, sometimes you just fall into it face first!!! LOL!
Have a good one--we have sun and a nice breeze.

I'm looking forward to watching the video when I have a few minutes to enjoy it. I've read 'Eat,Pray,Love' and am looking forward to getting her new one.
Have a great time 'off' (don't worry, we can manage to amuse ourselves, but can't say what we'll get into) and Happy Easter.

I just listened to Elizabeth again, she is pretty funny. Good speaker, thanks for bringing it to my attention again.

Oh I went to the town where she lives in New jersey, oh wait, that may have been somebody else. Hahaha! Take care dear Anne. I hope things are well with you. Have a blessed Easter.

I'll be watching the video later (Himself is watching the motor racing on TV, and has even taken the phone off the hook) as God forbid there should be any distraction, lol

When your body/brain tells you that you want a holiday, it means you NEED a holiday. And you'll come back refreshed and full of vim & vigour. These computers are taking over our lives... slaves to The Blog... My neck & shoulder are still stiff & painful - bad posture, and pushing myself to finish something, so my own fault. So I'm taking a bit of time off too!

No guilt here... I shall veg out, eat my Easter egg and enjoy the films on TV.

Happy Easter, sweetie!
