And now, for a brief moment of complete and utter elation.......

Who Dat gonna win the Super Bowl???
WHO DAT??? WHO DAT???

Joy to the whole Crescent City; the lady I love and miss so deeply.  Hope that this national exposure will help those who have received absolutely no recognition of their loss during Katrina, nor aid of any sort, to find means to rebuild and restart their lives on the soil that they call home.

Pax.

Tomorrow we shall return to our regularly scheduled whine and crab format of El Milagro........  ;-)

Thank You, the Management

I'm not much a football watcher, but we always watch some of the superbowl. I was rooting for New Orleans. Glad they won! That city will have a ton of parties going on!

LOL!!! Above and beyond the ton of parties they always have going at this time of year!
How I wish I was there!!!
Best game I've seen---I don't watch the NFL much because it is usually slow and grinding, but we do watch the CFL and those games are exciting----like the one last night!!!
DH and I are probably the only happy people in Indiana this morning...... :)

GO SAINTS!! Right there with you, Anne! And after the NFL put a lid on the local street concessions of 'WHO DAT" merchandise (because it is a 'copyright' infringement, or would hurt stadium sales?) I have become a Saints fan for life. Such a grinchy move on the NFL's part. The city needed this win. I was very happy for them! Let's go help them celebrate - :) xox Pam

I don't understand or watch football but this a.m. when they were interviewing some from New Orleans & their tears were flowing I couldn't help but tear with them. They have been through so much & this is so wonderful for them!! I am so-o-o-o happy for all....
New Orleans is a very proud lady indeed!!

I did not win any money and I don't watch tv but I heard a lot of screams next door and my daughter watched it in our living room between research homework. I rolled 200 miniature egg rolls though and cooked a boatload of pansit bihon (Philippine rice noodles with sauteed vegetables and chicken).

That's right! You love New Orleans. Have you had King's cake this season yet? They are all over the city.

Ooops, that's right, I am Baldie today.

Hi PAm,

Yeah, I could not figure that one out; was listening to WWOZ in NOLA earlier in the day and they were pretty much making fun of the NFL for that move----don't know any background on it.
I am sure all those shirt shops on Bourbon street were selling unliscensed ones! HA!
Give me 5 minutes to pack a bag and leave Gary a note-----I'm ready for the Crescent City and it's hospitality!!! :D

Hi Marilyn,

Yes, it is the average person of NOLA I celebrate for.....the people still trying to put lives back together, who have backed that team any way they could.
The *real people* there are more of a big family (not the bad elements) but there is this sense of connection and pride even among the rubble.
People who did not live there or visis a lot and meet the locals just don't understand.
there were a lot of tears here last night too!!!

I can't keep up with you , wild woman! I sould be at your house eating something that sounds utterly delicious!
I always make a King Cake, and have not yet. Will probably wait till Fat Tuesday to have it ready, along with red beans and rice or a crawfish boil or jambalaya and Abita beer.......DH has to have his cholesterol checked, so this is a BAD time of year for that! I usually cook New Orleans a lot, and some of it is not too slimming...? <:)
Okay Baldie....I'm off to e-mail land now!

I'm happy you're so happy, but true confession time: I am not into spectator sports. I was a pompom girl in high school only to wear the short skirt and bounce around and look cute. Don't hate me cuz I'm annoyingly perky.

You always start my morning off great! Love this - whine and crab format! Too funny. Happy Monday, Anne! **blows kisses** Deb

Hey Deb,

I never followed high school sports, had no looks or coordination tobe a cheerleader---though I did have the legs---and really, the only passion I have sportswise is Hockey. Men in short pants, with socks held up by garters, on skates, beating the hell out of each other! Now, I like that! HAHAHA! (plus DH played Hockey....)
I never follow NFL, except if it is the Saints and then only scores. But this was different!
I'll take all the perky I can GET! I have none today---borrowing some from YOU!
And yes, by tomorrow I'll be back to my acerbic self, taking pokes and barbs at everything, well, mostly ME......LOL!!!

So I'm sitting with the DH and I asked him who he was rooting for since I had a very Rhett Butler attitude. He said the Saints since they're the underdogs and we love underdogs. I said I was watching this only because I love the commercials, which I do, but I did get into the game, yelling and cursing so loudly, it scared away the Jehovah's Witness' folks away from our neighborhood..ok, that's an exaggeration, but I did scare my little Chihuahua, Maya, to hide behind the couch because Mommy was acting soo cwazy!!!

So good for the Saints and rock on or whatever Super Bowl winners do other than making oodles of $$$!!

Looking forward to your rants tomorrow!

Love ya,
G

Here in New York people throw open the windows and cheer for the winning team. It was like New Years Eve here.
And do send the scan - thanks.
Hugs from New York,
Frances

Hey Georgina,

I'm so pooped from staying up late and a busy but do nithing day today....reading your post makes me laugh!!! Oh geez! Scaring your poor dog!!
But we were doing some serious howling too.....LOL!!!
The Management may take tomorrow off from the blog to *REST* as in *WORK* or at least try and be coherent.
Is that possible???

Ah Frabces---that would have been something specatcular to see/hear! Never thought wbout how people in different parts of the country celebrate!
I'll pop the scan off to you. Thanks!

I was expecting the Saint's Come Marching in, LOL. Congrats to the fans and diehards!

I'm not a fan of football (never could understand why grown men liked to all pile onto a little piece of pigskin) but have to admit that I did cheer when I heard who won. That city needs a little good news and this win had to be a huge boost for their spirits.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Leslie---that would work too!
There are a huge list on songs on WWOZ's website that have been written about the Saints; I hate to admit this---I am not sure if the *Who Dat* started first or if the song that had those words came first. I should follow the culture better, I know! (sigh.....)

Hey MA,

I am with you for the most part, other than the CFL which is faster and more exciting, but I think the unquantifiable factor in this game was a city that had been ravaged, forsaken, struggled to survive and somehow, in a most unusual fashion of a sports win, was pumped with a shot of much needed adrenelin.
It is sort of like the Saints are now *America's Team*.....will be interesting to see what plays out afterwards, down the road, for the area.
