RANT ALERT!!!!

(Me, in one of my gentler moments yesterday. I'm the one with the teeth.)

I want you to know that this is being written at noon on the 13th.....that is how the day has diminished so quickly and my humor is, ummmmm, pretty much indicated by the photo above, with your dear gentle blog mistress being the one doing the biting.
AHEM.
Of all the things to conk out, and all the things I use the most, my printer decided this morning, when I have a raft of papers to print, that it was going to crap-out. Dead, na-da, nothing worked that I tried. I am considering looking for the disk that came with it to try and do a reinstall, but figure at his point that it is useless. And would fray my one last nerve beyond repair.
So the whole morning, except for a few phone calls, has been spent fighting with said nasty beastie. (envision Cap'n Jack Sparrow saying this.....facial expressions and all....much funnier!)
I want to take my cane to it and smash it within an inch of it's little printer-life! ACK.
This is one of those moments that I truly wish I was a complete and utter geek. To know exactly what was wrong, go into the files, fix it and move on.
Oh no. That isn't how it is.
So all my images on the computer are strictly ON the computer...or I should say IN, as they are not being printed to be used in anything. (double-cuss and foot stomp with good foot!)
I have visions of a new printer, which I might add, I cannot afford. Nor can I drive anywhere to GET the new printer I cannot afford, and DH has not been, shall we say, amicable about taking me places when he gets in after work?
I am ready to be well RIGHT NOW, I want my driving privledges, I want out, and I want to print my paperwork!!!! DAMN!!!!
I am thinking what my mother used to say...."People in Hell want ice water too."
Hmmmmph!
Okay, that satisfies my *rant requirement* to somewhat get on with the day. I think.
If there is a second post with a rant warning.....just don't read it.....LOL!!!
Run.
Fast.
Now go have a rantless day, and hopefully, hopefully.......

Pax.

I thought I saw smoke up there yesterday! Was the printer or you?!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Me....of course.
Last evening some dear friends rescued me from the casa/prison and we went to Staples and came home with a new printer. Had a 20% off coupon to expire...today? Friday? Anyway, another Canon, which when I think about it, has served me NINE YEARS.......
Sigh.......
Play taps.

Today has GOT to be better!!!! And that smoke hit Arizona yesterday....very strong!

LOL!!!!
Yes, it will be better when the NEW PRINTER is hooked up and working and I ma not worrying myself sick. Plus I have a load of other work that piled up, and I am exhausted from the Staples run and grocery shopping late last evening.
Maybe tomorrow would be a better printer-install day. I think I can live a day without it......two in a row.....yeah......

Do you ever get the feeling that there is some chip, embedded in all these devices, that causes an internal KABLOOEY!! every 9 years or so? I have had laptops kick the bucket (through no action on my part other than typing) at almost the same point in time. I would have helped you hit it with the cane, but now you have a brand new shiny printer! YAY!!! No more smoke from your house! I hope! xox Pam

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Yes Pam, I am sure there is. I worked on that printhead for HOURS cleaning the printhead and checking the contacts and everything was PERFECT; so you tell me why it wouldn't work other than----TAH-DAH!!!!-----I had to buy a new one!
Grrrrrr.....it's a conspiracy.....and we know it! LOL!!

Good Morning. I hope today will much improved for you. One of the important things I have learned about the tech stuff is when you think it has died just unplug it from everything and let it sit for a minute or two and then replug. You will be amazed at how often this simple task can fix the problem. May not work for you this time but could in the future. I am enjoying your blog, rants and all.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

LOL!!! I tried everything, and when I had the printhead out it was *goo-covered*. Even after cleaning, no dice.
Nine years of service to me is a LONG TIME for any printer.
I guess I should honor it.....
New one to be installed today, so once again....no art.... <:(

Ouch! That is one mean looking creature! I'm sure glad you got a new printer quickly!
You're right. At some point, we all experience this frustration and become ranting creatures, recognized by only those who have traveled the same road.
What WOULD we DO without our computers and our printers? I can't imagine.
Hey, Anne, a day of rest will probably be good for you.

LOL Audrey!!! I remember the pre-computer era. You wanted a copy, you went to the office supply and it was black and white. And then came COLOR! Ooooooooooo......
then came home computers, which---even as much as I L-O-V-E this blog---I wonder what they have done to our lives....
On the other hand, it has allowed me to make sales on the Zazzle store, so I am a bit soothed about it...HAHAHA!
Today is better. Just tired from the late night run and then grocery shopping. On the couch doing a bit of reading later.

My mother used to tell me when I was down or pissed off at someone or something, " Some days are dark and some days you can't see at all!" Blah, blah...but it's true!! Lady, right now you're blind!!!

As for the printer, I know how you feel, I'm lost without all my technology. Like my camera, I have to buy new software for it now since it's old and I can't download from the Cannon site anymore...what a rip off!!!

All you can do is "Onward and Upward" without killing DH. Just keep in mind if that thought goes through your little gray cells, do you really want to spend the rest of your life with a roommate called Big Bertha????

Love ya,
G

Installing new piece of evil electronic gear as we *speak*. So far, so good, of course, I'm not to the drivers yet...... ;)
It is printing a test alignment sheet and I think I could get the whole house cleaned before this is done.....I hope this is ot a sign of things to come! LOL!!!!
I just *loved* that old printer...so simple, so good, cheaper to run, yadda yadda.
the technology age has us by the ovaries, eh???

Ok...diabolical thought on my part...any way you can create art with your otherwise-boat-anchor printer? Surely it can be torn apart and the bits used somehow? Maybe you should build a shrine?

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

OMG....we think alike!!!!
I am seriously considering it...it's sitting in the garage right now...I am sure there is at least one circuit board worth the effort, eh??? >:)
Plus I'd just plain feel better!!
Seriously---nine years that little printer worked. It should just be bronzed and put in a shadowbox....

Mary Chapin Carpenter once sang "some days you are the bug and some days you are the windshield" splat!!!! Keep laughing and a padded cell may not be soooo bad...they serve three squares a day! As long as I can have my art supplies :o)
I tried to print your gargoyle and by gash my damn printer only printed one half... is this a viral attack??? Get some much needed rest and thank you for the beautiful postcard...I LOVE IT! Goodnight dear friend, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Mary Helen,

I'm beginning to think the padded cell would be good (with art supplies and sewing suppiles of course---need a BIG padded cell!) because I wouldn't have to stop to COOK!!! LOL!!!
I'll send you the gargoyle JPG.....we all have those days--LOL!!!
I'm better; tired but that goes with the physical issues. But doing good.
Take care!

Oh so sad! Hopefully your new printer uses less expensive ink then the old one...one advantage to an unfortunate computer-related death. I have been missing in the fog of a nasty head cold...still **blows kisses* as I'm sure you have antivirus software. Deb

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Deb...

Woke this a.m. with the *twingies* that re either allergies or cold. It's that time of year...ICK.
New printer works quite well; new stuff to adjust to; I am a luddite and like thing I don't have to change, but alas..... <:)
Hope you're feeling better dear!!!
