Wringing The Grey Cells Out.....

.....for some decent blog-fodder for today!
Yesterday was, and I hate to admit this, a NO-ART-DONE-DAY. It was a clean up, do exercises, run (okay, limp or waddle---pick one!) about the house like the madwoman I am, trying to get some semblance of minor order back to the pit. I hate days like that..hate 'em. Yes I do!
I was in the studio for such a short time that it only annoyed me grossly. It's all or nothing baby! (can you guess that I consider yesterday nothing???) The above piece is in progress, and one of those oddities that someone will love or hate. I always enjoyed playing with the little chalky valentine candies that had sayings on them, though they left much to be desired in taste and usually were discovered months later semi-melted and covered with a layer of well stuck dust. But, they are such a tradition, I thought I would give this a whirl.
Not my colors, not my style, not not not.....still, a little shading, a little varnish, a bit of sparkle. Maybe. I don't know.

These were the backgrounds I worked on, with papers cut, then coats of medium atop the backgrounds so that they would accept paint or whatever I decide to throw at them and not disintigrate. They are a single ply of a napkin, so the paper has to be handled very gently. No poking my fingers into these to see if they are dry---I wait.
And for your amusement....

Why, pray tell, would I be excited over this gem? Other than the fact that I am really odd?
When I received my pre-op instructions, I was told I would have to do daily injections, which I had never done, but I've sewn through my fingers a lot and I figured that counted towards *self shots*. I received this in the mail, with instructions (DVD) of precisely how to do the injections and of course I was supposed to RETURN this cannister with the used sharps enclosed. (ooops. forgot.)
Oh, no waaaaaaay! This is far to good a paint brush or pencil holder! When else in my life am I going to get my paws on a BIOHAZARD container???? A real for sure medical grade BIOHAZARD container!!! I yanked the top off---after considerable bad languange and effort, and it is my prize of this whole bizarre adventure I have had of late.
Hey, when the BIOHAZARD container is the highlight of your day......think about this.......
I'm back to the *custodial care* issue from a post a few days ago. I am beginning to wonder. So what you have read here, is brain dribble of the worst sort. Disjointed, grumpy, complaining.
But it has a cool brush holder!
If you can top this, please comment! Or tell me to shut up and go away until I am mentally in better condition to post.
Otherwise, from my warped little heart, I bid you.....

P.S. The "Java Love" is now available on a lovely coffee mug, in two sizes, from my little Zazzle store. I did the image as a half fold card, and a poster. It is a kicking coffee mug!

I don't suppose there is room for my brain in the bio-hazzard container?? Having bad day due to... well, read my post & you will see.
So-o-o-o, today I am going to work on a doily I have had the pattern for & I am going to watch the next segment of "The Tudors" on Showtime On Demand. I love to read about European History & I am really enjoying this series.
So, I will say this....have a wonderful day & stay safe!!

So I returned my biohazard container - I have always been obsessive with rules.....but I guess when I get excited about Pi day and this coming October 10 (10/10/10) that makes up for it....that's where I'm weird!!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

I hope things pick up as much as they can Marilyn. Hav eread your post---commented.
You take care!!!
I could put PART of your brain in the container....I'd gladly share!!!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Linda,

LOL!!!! We all have our quirks----I just knew they NEVER would get that back and had one other artist friend that understood!
I guess in some ways it is my totem to the fact that I survived the whole mess........the surgery, the meds, the shots at home, walking again.
Plus it's that logo on there....too cool! It is the old Punk in me! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Pi day sounds interesting... :)

There are days that I feel my entire brain is a bio hazard disposal container.

Maybe I need more coffee.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

My brain is ALWAYS in biohazard status!!!!
But do get more coffee...and think about that LOVELY CUP!!!! ;)

Only YOU, Anne, could find the beauty in a biohazard container. LOL!!!
So glad to see more heart art coming! I am going to order one of your "java" prints ~ it will look cool hanging in my studio!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hi Deb!

Yes, I have a *mini-shop*---just the Java Love stuff, and have gotten two mugs sold, so I guess it was a good idea??? We'll see!
Glad the laugh was here!!!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Yes, Audrey, only *I* would love that container!!! I've told you, I'm nuts.
Thanks for visiting the shop.....PASS THE WORD!!! :)
And thanks!!!

Oh the conversation to be had over a bucket of hazards. I think you would find many mushy brains within to keep you company friend. Love the story with you this morning only you MUST put hazards up so I can refrain from spitting upon my beautifully adored laptop, please.

Get better and take it slow as not to hurt yourself.

I love the white on green... gorgeous! Today I must accomplish at least one thing if for no other reason than to keep encouragement growing. :-0)

Okay Tammy, I have wondered for a while if I should put "Spew Alert" at the beginning of certain posts....except, for ME, living this stuff, am never sure what will be amusing to others or what won't!!!
Now Rant Alerts...those are pretty easy to figure out and I generally try and be up front with them. In fact, with my humor this morning, tomorrow may bear that particular warning.
I need a "Spew Alert Level" that ridiculous terrorist level color coded thingy. ;)
Off to find something to improve my grumpiness! LOL!!
Take care!

Oh, I love the Biohazard container..just too funny. My Dad used to use a coffee can, which I provided since they only drank instant, for his diabetes injections. I would use that container for a pencil or brush holder...just toss out your needles!!! LOL

Also, went into the studio yesterday for the first time since before Christmas. I realized I was avoiding it because I didn't have any ideas, but as soon as I sat down at the table, they came to me like a strobe light!!! I can be such a chicken s***t sometimes.

Love ya,

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Georgina.....that is just how it works; everything piles up in the brain while we are busy with all the other *stuff* in life, till we are to the point we don't know where to start.
Most artists are the same....makes little difference what we do/make!
You GO girl!!

And to think...I hide my bio container in a decorative tin!!! Luv the hearts. Keep the cheery stuff comin'

ps...if you need to disposed of the sharps, put them in a hard plastic container...fabric softner or liquid laundry soap bottles work well. Duct tape them shut and drop off at a local pharmacy. I know from experience. :(

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Oh Vicki, you know me!!! That was a PRIZE for this warped little mind....... LOL!!!
Spent the whole day working on the printer, which is NOT working. Ordered a printhead. I think that is the issue, and it better be after what I paid.
It's an older Canon but I love it. Don't like the new ones nearly as well...let's keep the fingers crossed!

Hi Anne,
It's been a few days since visiting.
I love your Red hearts on damask finshed. Bellisimo!
Argh, those Clexaine injections are very stingy=been there, done that. Twice!
I hope you have more ME time in your studio today-not sure about you, but I get cranky.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Anna,

yes, I get very cranky, and today, while I have been IN the studio, it's been everything else but art I have been doing. Printer died and I am trying to figure what the heck to do; pursue repair or buy a new one???? Of course, I have AMPLE INK for the current one.....
I'm afraid to try and paint right now! HA!

Clare Wassermann said...

I have just discovered your wonderfully colourful blog - I'll be visiting often and thank you xxx

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hi Clare!!!
Welcome! Just as a heads up---tomorrow is NOT colorful other than the text; have had a *bad-printer-day* and threw a few fits....but they do procide amusement!
Come back often---sometimes there is real art and fun! LOL!!

Rondell said...

Look like somebody ready for Valentime already! You already got your Valentime picked out?

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Rondell!

My Valentine of my dreams is "Booth" from the Bones TV show, driving up in a 70's muscle car with chrome rims and mag wheels.
And the only sweets are himself for ME!!! LOL!!!! (awful, Anne, AWFUL!)
Okay, I'm not getting that, probably more along the line of flowers and chocolates from DH. Which works because there is CHOCOLATE involved!!! :D

I Love you! I can come here and laugh and get beautiful art at the same time. I am partial to the black, white and red pieces!!

Thanks for coming over.
LOL!! Anne, I just got a visual. Guffawed and snorted on that comment.

I really love it too. You should pop on over to her Etsy site, her jewelry is a steal.
I was so excited when I won it.

I love your coffee painting. And you are so right it makes an awesome coffee mug!

Honey, being a nurse, I have to ask you what did you do with the needles?

Magpie's Mumblings said...

Like QMM before me, I'm wondering what you're doing with the needles. I'm expecting them to show up in a piece of art! As for the container, sometimes my paint brush container of water IS a biological hazard, esp. after it's been sitting on my worktable for a couple of weeks and mold is growing on the top!!

Leslie said...

Only you would want a bio-hazard pen/pencil/paintbrush container, LOL.

You seem to be getting yer own self back.

I wants a coffee cup, now to find $$ in the budget, I do have a birthday in March, hmmmmm?

Love to you!

I never thought I would ever be able to give myself injections but now I do every Sunday night...this helps me tolerate a higher dose of medication without further destruction to my already fragile stomach lining. I ordered two large coffee cups...kind of by accident but now I have another gift for Mr. Ken for Valentine's Day. Rest dear are still healing! Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen

Happy Without Drugs said...

OMG! ANNE!!! YOU ARE TOO Funny! Yes, I cannot get over how excited you are over the biohazard medical sharps container. HAHAHAHAHAH!

Okay, I thought you may have been exaggerating with the "run" word. No art BUT you honored Hestia today and made your home a sanctuary so that in itself is an achievement because we need a little semblance of order and cleanliness to create! Take care Anne. TSUP!

P.S. I have been on call since 8AM yesterday and just now got a chance to relax. I am dragging. I am so tired.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hi Marie,

HA! Yes, wouldn't that have been a sight??? What a killer necklace....right up my Punk alley. I have been remiss of late at getting to other blogs; moving so slow--I run out of time and I have a commission besides the hearts to work on so about to freak! (but I don't have time for that either.....LOL!!)
And am installing a new printer today, well the post explains it all....thanks for the feedback on the hearts. I'm just really having FUN!!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey QMM,

Well, they are safely in a glass jar, awaiting being encased in some sort of epoxy, to be used in artwork that has a medical theme.
The new do-it-yourself home shots (preloaded) have a safety cap that comes down over the spent needle with a push......I just replaced the regular caps and will embed them into art medium at some point down the road. They'll be safe. Safer than where things went with some of the med people I have know around here.....don't ask.
And, don't worry!!! :)
Or they may get scanned, then duct taped into a hard plastic container and go to my pharmacy....I have to decide what artwork I want them for.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

See, MA, you know me waaaaaaay too well!!! I have wanted for a long while to do a series on canvas about the body from the bones up, and then other things and images either collaged on/in. So I covet those to.
And yes, my water bucket is on the verge of being it's own biohazard! I send it thru the dishwasher occasionally, though once I put toilet cleaner in it to get the old paint and lime out...... :D

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Leslie, DEAR.....treat yourself!!! I think if I have time today I am going to go in there and design a travel coffee mug, as that is what I use each morning at the computer due to the arthritis in my hands. I can hold the handle and carry it easily.....thinking.....dangerous!!!! LOL!!!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Ah Mary Helen,

I'm sorry it loaded two cups but bless your heart---it will make a good gift!
yeah, I observed the nurse in the Hx on the first shot, thenthe next day asked her to observe me to make sure I was doing it right. She said I was fine.
Really, in the end, it is mind over matter. If it helps you stay well, then what's a little sting? I only had one that I sort of missed the fat and got a little vein.....minor nose bleed that night and bruising. I expected that. No worries......
Thanks for the purchases!!! ♥ ♥ ♥

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Oh come on Ces!!!! Where else would I ever get one of those??? I love medical things; they were supposed to give me my screws back they removed but that got lost in transition.....yes, I would have brought them home and made a shrine to my hip. YOU KNOW ME!!!! Little Miz Netter-In-Mind-Only!!!! LOL!!!
Now go rest....don't know how you keep up with the hours you do. On call has to kill you physically....
And take care!
