I have, for a very long time, wanted to have some professionally printed postcards made, to tuck in with gifts, to give to friends, or just to look at on a *bad-art-day*. You know those days; nothing is going right in the studio, you wonderous brain-child art project has, you discovered, sucked rocks....or worse yet, someone else has told you it sucks rocks.
We have aaaaaaaalllllll been there.
Probably once too often.
So anyway, I had done this painting as a gift a long time ago and love it and miss it and thought, "Oh, that would be a perfect postcard, due to the shape of the canvas and the intensity of the color, and frankly, almost everyone's LOVE for coffee!" I had received a promo from an on-line printing company I had used for some other items and thought, gee, that price isn't too bad (it wasn't too good either!) and I won't have to get out and see locally what I would get stabbed, errr, charged for 50 cards. Heavy stock, gloss--front and back--off I go, typing in all the details, loading the pic, filling the background, then with shipping, it's a little more than I planned, but this was a splurge....remember?
So I click the *order* button and then begin waiting impatiently, in my normal state.
Today, as I sit having an early lunch I notice UPS throws (yes, THROWS) something on the porch floor, where--quite honestly--had I not been sitting in full view of the sidelights, I would not have known the package was there. So I stagger out, trying to figure where to plant the cane, the GOOD foot and then stretch the bad leg out behind to pick up this little bugger.
I see what it is and am sooooo excited! My postcards! YES! ♥
I open them, the photo is lovely, I turn them over and yep....you guessed it. Miz Dyslexic (since that first general anesthetic!) has managed to misspell *Miracles*. The new spelling, for the Webster and Oxford English dictionaries is, ahem, *Miralces*
DAMN.
Okay, I got my name, the painting name, copyright, and especially blog addy RIGHT, and I went over and over and OVER checking for typos, because I'm not joking, since the first surgery, I transpose letters all the time! And I never found it.
It's Anne-Luck.
Well, the front is good and so what...right? (insert pleading, whiny tone here) Right???
So there we are. 50 lovely, lovely fronts and a fouled up back. Now I think I will check the other store I ordered business cards from--which I had forgotten about due to my glassy-eyed wonder at the sale e-mail--and see what they charge and get them printed right.
I--GIVE--UP.
At any rate, the heart pieces are all proceeding fine and I hope to have some finished photos on here tomorrow and there is no spelling on them, so I'm safe! SNARF!!! I've rolled Paperclay and stamped it so that it can be painted, cut hearts from it with cookie-cutters (no digits missing...hmmmm....let me count....yep, all fingers accounted for!) and hope the four current canvas panels will soon be done.
Now to think of backgrounds for the new pieces. And remind myself: "NO WORDS"
My last word to y'all, my gentle readers and supporters of this crazy woman is, truly....
Pax.

Oh, Anne - I should NOT be laughing but I am. Here's the good news, we all read dyslexically and therefore, most of us won't even notice! Besides, the art is what everyone looks at, not the back. :)) I cannot tell you have many times I have done similar things - it's maddening! And then there was the time I looked away when my drawing was on the paper cutter...thank god it wasn't my fingers! HAHAHA! Can't wait to see your hearts. Mine are almost done and I hope to post some pics later, if I don't screw something up. LOL!!! xoxo Pam
Oh please---LAUGH!!!! I just thought, here we go...new year, same old sh*t. Oy!!!
I almost wrote you yesterday to tell you of my big screw up! But I do love that coffee cup and that cards are drop dead on with color and crispness.
Have to take today off from the studio---leg is not happy. I think I have been on it too long, so pics and then I'm outta here!
I thinkt hese little *jolts* are all part of being an artist, yes???? <:)
XXOO!!
Anne
Anne - card is wonderful - the reds are glorious! And I've done that, too - one trick I've learned is to proofread from the last word backwards. That way you are focusing on the spelling and not letting your brain "see" the words and put them together for you, regardless of mistakes. It does work (ask me how I know...)
Be good (as if that were possible) and stay warm!
Don't you just hate it when that happens? LOL!!! The postcards are wonderful, wonderful, Anne. I would think some coffee company out there would love to use this for their advertising!! This could be your boat full of $$$ heading for your shore....
You have to get on Etsy, girl, so we can order something in order to get one of those postcards sent with our purchase!!! (:
Can't wait to see tomorrow's post of heart artwork!!
I hope the leg feels better later today (or sooner)!!! (:

You know years back when I bought the first computer my daughter dubbed me 'coffeebarchick' - I have to tell you the coffeebarchick simply absolutely loves that cuppa java.

Ahhh,Anne...geeze, would'nt ya know!...i've done that many times ..even here in commenting..once you click that button..its too late! ha!
I'm sure most of us probably would not even notice...we would be too busy admiring your work on the front side!
we'll all be ordering from you in order to get the screwed up card! haha...a collectors item some day! hehe
Rest some today...xoxo, gypsy
Hey Linda---that's a great idea. I used to proof work for Gary and since I did not *know * what it was supposed to say, it was soooo easy......
Ah well, I've learned! :)

Anne
Hi Audrey,
I am *hoping* to get the pics up for tomorrow. I am totally off the leg today; it is that or end up back at the doc (have been reading what I was NOT supposed to be doing...oh.....) and I have to watch this close. SO it could be later....
I do love the piece though, misprint and all!
XXOO!!
Anne
Marilyn....LOL!!!
I feel like I've been stuck in the house since Halloween.....and it is still snowing here too, and frigid. Enough already.
I'm thinking I could use a second pot of coffee..... :)
Stay warm and rant all you want!!!

Anne
Hi Frances!!!
Thanks! I am much fond of it too---the original painting was 18"x24" and had the tiniest bit of glitter in it in the steam.....I miss it a lot! <:)
XXOO!!
Anne
Hey Marianne....I'm thinking the misprint is down at the bottom where the post office always puts those code stickers.... :D
There is something to be said for them!

Anne
Hey Gypsy,
The funny part is you can read right past it; the brain sees certain combinations of letters and generally reads them as they should be.
Well, obviously MINE did! HA!
You're right. most wouldn't notice. Off to find something on TV that is watchable....ugh.

Anne
Anne, thanks for the morning guffaw!!!That sounds like something I would do too! One reason I was so bad at retail work, I'd reverse numbers...not good when you're making a sell for other business'!! LOL This reminds me of the time when my little brother, Jaime, (now 47 and married to the belly dancer), was in second grade and my folks went to a teacher's night and the class had written and illustrated a story of their own. The teacher took my folks to his desk and there lay his story about "The Civil Whore!" That still makes me giggle lots. Asked my mother what she did with that...she threw it away, she thinks, because my mother is a 1st class purger...now you know why I'm somewhat of a hoarder?????
Love the cards, lady...great painting. Is that the one you were talking about the other day...the one that lady "borrowed" from you???
Love ya,
G
Ah no, this was not the *borrowed* one...they were different and I am still thinking of doing them. When this was hung, all of a sudden there was a bunch of her stuff up to draw the eye away....pitiful. I mean, no self esteem. Just couldn't stand the fact people liked it and commented and complimented the work.
I am so thankful I am not like that.
I can top the Civil Whore:
DH's work includes a newspaper for the Base. The people who do the work are supposed to proof it. Anyway, after it had hit press one month, DH is reading through and in the front, in the STAFF section, he finds he is Chief of PUBIC Affairs!!!! LOL!!! (he was soooooo furious!)
That never happened again....

Hi Anne,
Love the picture, yeah, everyone loves coffee!
Oh dear me, what a bugger about the typo's.
While I was recuperating from a broken leg (still high on pain killing drugs) I thought I'd better put my passport in a safe place-hm, so safe I'm still looking for it two years later.
In the end I had to cancel it(expensive) and apply for a new one. Yep, the new one came and NO, the old one still hasn't turned up.
Grrhh, stay warm and cozy.
Hugs,
Anna
Oh Anna, I should NOT laugh....but that sooooo sounds like me that, yep, I did!!
I finally gave in and took something for pain and so far, all it has done is calm me enough not to have a fit that I can't work.
I'm still coherent, or at least I think I am! LOL!!! Maybe I'm not! :)
Someday the passport will turn up; I have had that happen and then I stand there thinking..WHY did I put that THERE?? (and that's with no drugs...)
XXOO!!
Anne
Oh, Anne, I love it, dyslexia and all! Just the idea of coffee in a heart is so delightful...and the colors are incredible. It's always easier for someone else to pick up on typos than the author...I find it quite charming with you.
**kisskiss** Deb
I'm just a mixed up girl Deb! I went to one of my friends blogs and reread what I posted this a.m.
Words do not describe the mess I typed.
I left an apology!!!
I am so fond of this heart....I should be ashamed of tooting my horn that much! ;)
I'll use the things anyway, don't care! HA!
XXOO!!
Anne
I've got one word, Stickers!
I also don't care, I wants one, NOW!
Leslie! I bet if I handed then out, most people wouldn't even look at it and see it!
So ya wants one NOW huh?
Well the mail runs on Monday. *now* won't work....a slight delay. And I need to look for an envelope.......
XXOO!!
Anne
Those of us who love our coffee fix, just have to adore that card! I tolerate tea but truly love coffee (even lukewarm or cold). I've learned to limit my consumption though, because otherwise I get the shakes and then can't work!
As for Miralces...why not? It sounds like a lovely word!
I love my coffee too! it needs to be strong enough to walk out of the pot and jump in the cup.
I've had to go to decaf green tea in the evenings though; too much and I'm shaking too, plus headaches.
It's just soooooooo good though! :)
XXOO!!
Anne
Your red heart is amazing. I understand totally how you feel about your cards, just know we all have done similar ouies in our life. I would be honoured to have your card because the art on the front is more important..
I love the postcard...my neighbor gave me strong kick ass coffee from Hawaii so you know I do love my coffee. Once I was teaching and misspelled angles in geometry ...made it angels...boy did my class have a ball that day in my classroom. It may have been the day I wore two different color shoes as I hurried out the door to deliver my daughters to three different elementary schools and rushed to my middle school. i love your photos sooooooooo please be careful. Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
I am sorry but this is too funny. I really am sorry but I can't even type from laughing. I can't even continue reading... I will return after I have regained my composure.
You are sooo funny Anne. I love you.
By the way, I want that postcard. It is beautiful. I love you still.
Thanks Bunny!!
I just have to throw my litle fits and then move on.....Yes, the front well outshines the back!!! :)

Anne
Hey Mary-Helen,
Maybe this is an artist thing*??? Was on the phone with one of my friends (an excellent artist...go to the links at the bottom, MizBeesArtifacts) and she said that happens to her a lot.
I think our brains just get bored with the little stuff that has nothing to do with ART per se!!!
And I am taking it easy; I think another rest day today for sure!
XXOO!!
Anne
Ah Ces---you're SUPPOSED to laugh!!!! That's why I crafted the post as it is!!! To make you laugh and maybe spew coffee too.... ;)
I want you to make your new painting into a postcard so I can have one.....she is so beautiful!
Love you too Ces, woman of miraculous painting and drawing!!!
XXOO!!
Anne
I seriously doubt I would have noticed! ~8-)
Yeah Vicki....I think with most cards, people just look at the front.
But none the less, there was humor there I thought would be funny to share!!!
My life...... <:)

Oh Anne! Forwarding that note from Bear was The Sweetest Thing Ever! I love it ♥ **happy smiles** Deb
Deb, I wish I could have sent it with pics. I did that years ago for a friend who lost a dog, and it used to have the cutest photos, BUT, I did not save them---just inderted into the e-mail. BIG MISTAKE.
So I have kept the words and whenever that time comes, it goes out to people who need a little reassurance that their furry loved one is *okay* and patiently waiting for us when it's our time.
You take care!!!
