I Totally Blew Off.......

(Belated Birthday Roses for the Blog!!!)

...... December 21st,  the One Year Anniversary of this blog.
I have been semi-successfully blithering, ranting and occasionally dropping words of wisdom and pictures that range from the completely boring to the inane to exceptionally interesting for over 365 days. Art, life, speedbumps, the happy, the sad.....it all has deposited itself here for over a year.
There was this dull grinding of rusty wheels the other morning, a great creaking sound to say the least, the brain-gears attempting to think and that was when I checked the archives for the first post I put up. (I assure you, it is NOT---ABSOLUTELY NOT-- worth taking the time to find...save yourselves gentle readers, don't go there...)
Holy Moly....over a year. This is something for me because my attention span, as I have discussed here before, is short to say the least. Occasionally nonexistant is a much better description.
And yet, here we are. What is it about this thing called a blog that draws one in? That holds the attention, and committment to posts is not a requirement but a pleasurable experience?
And tinkering with the little doo-dads on the sidebars.....and trying to make things a bit better.....move this here, that there. You know, it is sooo much easier than rearranging furniture! ;-) Plus you can delete what you don't like, as opposed to the rest of our lives! HA!
I discovered the hard way that some widgets conflict with others, Blogger---just like us---has bad days, items at the bottom of the page make it load faster. I probably will never try to change back to two column Minima due to almost having a massive panic attack messing with the HTML code to transfer it to three column! LOL! Geek, I am not. I wish I was.....
Mostly I've discovered a lot of other people with wonderful blogs and interesting words, beautiful artistic expressions and delightful sharing of life experiences. Maybe that's what keeps this blog-engine within me running. Maybe it is another form of creative outlet that has grown and developed a life of it's own. Maybe it is a nice substitute in moments like these when I still cannot access my art or fiber art supplies nor feel like using them. (fatigue is still a major factor, but I am ambulating!)
As to the new year of the blog, the thought of redoing some of the page is intriguing; cleaning things up, paring down so I can load it up again with blog-stuff. LOL! Like my house, like my studio......the temptation of one silly item more! One bit of digital fluff, cram one more photo on the page....oy. I never learn.
I love sitting in the morning connecting with friends, thinking what tidbit of inane amusement might make others laugh. I occasionally like making us all think (or try to). I love sharing the process of work. Perhaps, when all is said and done, this is just an extension of me, put out there to connect with others who share and chat and enjoy what they do at the keyboard. It becomes our connecting place, our creative space, our place where the artistic marks we make are letters and a foreshadowing of what we will do in real life.
It is a very rewarding place to be, now, isn't it?
To you all, I bid you......

Pax.

Congratulations, Anne, on your 1st year of blogging. I, too, will reach that anniversary tomorrow. Funny.... last night I wrote my little entry for tomorrow's anniversary and it is nowhere near as interesting as yours. Words seem to flow from you easily and you get your point across with interest and humor. One of the many things we all love about you!
I look forward to another year of morning visits to El Milagro and getting to know the writer behind it even better.
Cheers to a GREAT BLOG and a New Friend!!

Morning, Anne! And congratulations on your blogging milestone! I love Blog World, and the wonderful people I have met. I was talking to the DH about it the other day, and it is an amazing thing to make friends with people that you have only seen written words and pictures from. It holds the best of all worlds for me: visual treats, words I can mull over in quiet contemplation, or in your case, snort coffee out my nose when I read them. haha! It sometimes functions as a supportive critique group. It's been so fun to get to know you and the people that visit your blog! Here's to lots more words and pics in 2010! xoxox Pam

Hey Audrey,

Congrats a bit early on your first year!
I am not sure WHAT precisely flows from me easily......I am sure there are others that might use a description other than *words*, the first letter being s *C* and ending in *P* with two in between....LOL!!!
I have enjoyed it, and everyone I've met on this new path!

Hey Pam,

yes, I was talking with my DH too about blogging, though I am not sure he realizes how good it can be (I think you have to *do* it)...and I am SO PROUD that I can make you snort coffee out your nose. My mission is accomplished! LOL!
It really does serve many purposes, but the friendships and support (or critique when necessary) are the real gems.
Here's to both of us keeping it going in 2010, and stock up on your fav coffee and Kleenex!!!

Hi Bunny,

Of course, DH might say I was *verbose*..... ;)

Hey Gypsy,

yes, it is such fun, and I plan to do this as long as I can think of something to make people snort liquids out of their nostrils.... (see Pams comment!) LOL!!!
It is wonderful meeting and talking and learning you are *NOT* the only person on the planet that has certain views, and we--of course--are right! HA!
Here's to many more years of this for both of us!

Huge congrats on your blogiversary Anne! I'm so glad I found you because you never cease to entertain and inform. And someday I will read that first post (because I can!) and all the ones before I lucked out and started reading. You can run, but you can't hide it!

Noooooooo MA, but I could go back and DELETE it....heehee!
The blog was started after we had an ice storm. My trees were breaking from ice weight, and DH probably thought I needed a distraction, and it was HIS idea for this.
So we have hubs to thank for the humor and mental-junk that has ended up here...and the good posts in between! LOL!
And you're right...I can't run!

Congrats Anne. Are you a Sagittarian that your attention span is restricted? Glad to hear that you are mildly ambulatory again. The fuzzy mind and fatigue are probably an anasthetic hangover. The anasthetic takes much longer to get over than the healing of flesh and bone.
I so wish you good health and loads of happiness for the coming year my dear.

Wow! Congratulations to you Anne. I'm so glad that we have met. Hugs! :)

Hey Arija,

OMG....yes, a Sagg....it goes without saying, does it not? LOL!!!
As to the anesthetic, you are right on the spot; the nurses in hospital told me it takes much longer to get out of the system than people think. Plus, a pain pill (low dose) at bedtime leaves me quite mellow in the a.m. Phooey to that!
I am learning to deal with the fatigue; each day there is a minute or two less which is quite encouraging.
I seem to have a mental block that this was, indeed, MAJOR surgery.....I just like in Anne-Land... :)
Thank you for your kind and wise words!
