The remains of the day.........

(yes, there is a Grinch ornament in the tree........!)

.....a lovely day spent with DH and the quiet of the country; no snow but pretty red lights on our table-top tree that was plenty and a delight to do! (would you expect anything else but red from me??? Really???)
Exchanging gifts, recalling holidays past, good times, lounging, napping......I can't remember a Christmas that was this low key and lovely! Delivered treats to the Budgie Boyz from *Santa-Budgie* which was pretty much like taking ten pounds of sugar and giving it to a couple of kids and encouraging them to eat it straight! Oh my...we laughed at their antics and squawks all day! Seriously, all day......they were pretty happy and wired! And LOUD......
We noshed on tidbits I had tucked away in the pantry and fridge, a day of no cooking! Watched movies---"A Christmas Story" being one of my favorites because it reminds me for some reason of my early days and it is just too funny, especially the bunny suit. (remember, I own and wear bunny slippers...) Plus, Darrin McGavin is perfect as *The Old Man*.......reminds me somewhat of my Dad, the facial expressions!
Closed the evening with a drive around in town to look at Christmas lights and enjoy the nightfall out in the car. Then back for some more time snuggled in the warm house with the red tree aglow until finally I had to call it a night. Still need a bit more stamina and getting up at 5:30 every morning is not helping! LOL! I would say I'm too old for these early hours but I'll blame it on the surgery instead.  ;-)
This was a great Christmas for all the reasons we never see promoted---small, simple, time for sharing talk, a drive, being with someone you love, having enough which is plenty, no pressure. Could you ask for a better day?
I couldn't.
Being home.....on my couch, with DH......the best Christmas ever!!!
I wish the same warm feelings for all of you. Sometimes we have to slow down to see what we really need, or want, or are thankful for.

Sounds perfect to me. Hope the red mittens went over well.:) I had the first Christmas Day without cooking in 48 years our Son cooked and it was delightful.

Anne, after making a large Christmas meal yesterday, I did nothing else and I plan to do the same today. There is nothing like a couple days of total R&R... something my mind and body were in dire need of.
I am very happy that your surgery is behind you and that you are doing so well.
Have a peaceful, happy day!!

Hey Audrey,

I know whenever I had to do *the dinner* I was always so tired I couldn't really eat till the next day.
And leftovers are pretty good anyway.
I think we all need some R&R!

HI Anne. You KNOW i'll be coming here for... well forever. I just wanted to add some others to my list of daily visits to go along with those I have. I would not even consider abandoning you for another. Nope, not me. Not in me. I'll leave that to others with less heart.

I had a wonderfully quiet and enjoying day with my hubs & son and the 5 critters. It was as it should be. The best. Funny how the day is over and life picks right back up as though not a second was missed. Wow.

Bring on the New YEar!!!

Jan, any day you get FED and don't have to COOK is a good day! A very good day!!!
We're chillin' today; Monday I go back for a follow up so we'll see what we see about the hip. Feeling pretty good but look like a skunk...(sigh)

Hey all--sorry I did not catch these yesterday. I still am on "half-day-rations" of the computer....LOL!!! In other words, I just give out and hit the couch and sleep! (which is MOST ANNOYING...)

@ Vanessa, I will anxiously be awaiting the fishnets! LOL! (do I get the type with seams?)

@ Deb, you day sounds like it was right out of A Christmas Story, and fun!!!

@ Gypsy, a quiet Christmas was wonderful and DH and I are even MAYBE discussing starting this as a new tradition.....and this is a good time to reflect and look forward, yes? Yes!

@ Kate, oh, I have been down the ice chipping road too many times and my thoughts are with you. No fun, but hopefully you kept power thru it all. May you be SAFE above all else. And relax to the Jazz...good for the soul!

Thanks for stopping by.....until later.....
