When it rains.....well....you know......

Okay, first off, thank you to ALL of you for the nice thoughts and kind words and prayers about the *innards*. Whoa. That was NOT fun and I lost a half a day of work, which really torqued me off!!!
As you know, most of the time I post this the evening before, so the last post was done late Wednesday evening for Thursday publication, which was a good thing because when I got up (a bit battered!) Thursday a.m. there was no internet. NONE. NADA. Finally back up late last evening with something like 80+ e-mails to wade through.........ack.......
So I tended to a few other things and then headed to Rochester for the appointment at the church. It was the most BEAUTIFUL day to drive up, sunny, not humid, and cool---a good day to be out! Sat with Debbie and the Pastor, we tossed ideas around and had it all worked out in no time what we thought would work for the Christmas/Advent banners. It will be in traditional liturgical colors, the candles from an advent wreath and then the Christ Candle. They should be beautiful. I have to sit with graph paper and get that all worked out---they run about 48" wide by 8.5-9' long. In other words....A WHOLE LOTTA FABRIC! We're going to use the quilted silk I had planned for the Easter banners as that will speed the process a lot; I have to look for the complimentary fabrics now.
While I have been sans internet, I worked on the art piece---all sorts of things pulled and spread out and considered. I need to get pics before I proceed further so you can keep up with what I am thinking/doing, or more like how I really do not have a distinct thinking process on this and do it by what artistically feels right.
It was hard to get back in the zone on it--too much other stuff filling what I call a brain but finally I swept that out and think I may have found the direction I want to go. It is TOTALLY DIFFERENT than what was originally posted, so hopefully it will be a fun journey for you all too!
Apologies for not keeping up on your blogs with posts---going to try and get back to that Monday. When the banners start for real, then most of my time will be spent with them.
As always, I wish you all a beautiful creative day!

Pax.

Hey Pam!
A creative tornado....hmmmm....I think I like that! Of course, living in Indiana, that's about the only use of the word *tornado* that I like! LOL!!!!!
DH would say I'm just a lot of hot air.... ;)

Linda,

I missed blogging! Sitting staring at the computer when it is not working doesn't fall under normal, healthy behaviour....does it??? HA!

Jean---oh thank heavens it wasn't the hospital! I've already decided I will be on deaths doorstep before I go back there....
Internet problems with the new company are all the time. That's why I try and get a post loaded the night before---I never know if I'll be online next day or not.
Yeah, the banners are big and HEAVY when yu have them hoisted over your shoulder trying to sew. I enjoy the design and handwork, but it is really hard rearranging the studio, as I can do nothing else till they are done. So it's always a work-a-thon.
But it's money, and the churches are so happy with them, I guess I can't complain too much, eh? ;)

I'm glad you are feeling better and that your internet is back up. I hope they reimburse you for all those down days. It really sounds like you need a special room that can be dedicated to your banner work so you don't have to clean up your whole studio everytime you want to work on one. You could make banner work your full time job it sounds like. Not that you want to, I realize.

Reimburse???? HA! They threatened to close our account when I complained before about the fact that we repeatedly couldn't connect to e-mail or the internet, so I am not holding my breath on any sort of reimbursement!!!
You're absolutely right on both counts with the banners; I need a room designed for that work, and I could do it full time but I think it would physically kill me. I do wish though, I had started it at a younger age.
Now, liturgical stoles? Those I could do and sell most likely......plus they can be cut on the normal table and no isuues with having to crawl under the ironing boards to get to the other side of the table to work! (and that should be interesting with the hip.......)

I find trying to play catch up is overwhelmingly dreadful. I generally just let my reader bring in the new post and start from there. It's so hard to get to everyone if I keep going backwards.... too hard.

Glad you are feeling better. Not having internet would really bite. I don't like loosing my connections, ever. So far we have been very lucky with cable. Knock wood.

Yes, sometimes I just can't catch up on what everyone else has written and I hate missing it but real life always pops in with too much to do! (like today)
We are out too far in the country for cable, so it's this broadband company or DIAL-UP, which is a joke. Sometimes I feel like I live in the twilight zone..... LOL!!!
Maybe I do.......yikes!

With no access all weekend I wondered how much I would be missing in your adventures in art. Quite some, I will say. Off to Wyoming on Tuesday, will miss even more. Don't have some great epiphany whilst I am gone...
