Some lovely old fashioned iris; they have proliferated---I have too many but love them so........
St. Francis amidst the violet leaves, day lilies and another old fashioned iris that was frequently found in cemeteries and roadside ditches.
The Sunshine Locust, with brilliant lighting.......
Dames Rocket and the Oriental Poppies beginning to unfurl their papery red skirts, all aglow with sunlight.......
Another older iris, with most peculiar coloring; a bit purple, a bit beige, and in the right light, an iridescent sheen. It almost looks frosted.How can the day be bad when all this beauty surrounds me?

Not bad at all!.
I think the last Iris is also an old variety. Does it smell kinda lemony? If it's the one I think, we had them in our garden as well when I was growing up.
Lovely photos, there must of been a mood going on. I took some shots in the church garden yesterday as well.
Yes, it has a soft unusual, powdery smell--lemony. I have a couple that smell like grape soda too!
It's so odd; the difference in the scents and shapes. I do prefer the older varieties; they hold up better.
Lovely. I especially like the lighting on the first iris shot. Very peaceful, unlike my garden with toddler hands helping!
I don't know Vicki...more hands to help sounds good!!! And those iris are pretty much indestructible. Maybe you need some!
Beautiful!!! The first shot of iris is spectacular with the light. And I love the poppy red with the purples - you can see a hint of purple in the poppy to tie them all together. I so miss a "normal" spring!!!
Linda, I don't know how you function. But I must admti, Spring is the best season for my flowers. Usually by summer everything is cooked and eaten by Japanese Beetles.......so I shoot and shoot and shoot in the spring, when it's all fresh and pretty, then use the pics later in the year!

I had soft pink peonies in bloom today; shot some of those and hope they turn out good! My garden blooms out almost all at once, then is gone.
I grab the pics of iris as soon as they open!
