Delightful gifts from friends.....

Before my *Grand Adventure*, Dolly, one of my friends from the Pacific Northwest, sent me a package of wonderful tidbits including these amazing feathers. I so love feathers of all sorts and collect them and stash them and occasionally they get pulled out for use in fiber art.
However, these were of such spectacular color, they deserved to be preserved first as photographs, and then maybe I will draw or paint them before they are turned into something fiber-wise.

For the life of me I cannot remember what type of bird they were from and truthfully, the pics do not do them justice. I am hoping that maybe clicking and getting a close up will give you a better idea of their glorious texture and color.
It never ceases to amaze me how creatures of the wild are given such beautiful plumage and we, as humans, seem to drab ourselves down as much as possible. (except, of course, for your dear authoress.....)
At the present time Dolly and I are commiserating via one of our on-line groups; she has had surgery on her right hand and of course that is her dominant side and then there is my little bit of nonsense.......
So here is a toast to "Magoo" and "Peg-Leg", may we recoup soon and be back to our normal, feisty selves causing havoc and mayhem and just in general being artists!!!
And by the way, shooting these pics this morning is the FIRST creative thing I have been able to do since the accident.
And it felt wonderful!
Now get out there and take advantage of the day to be creative in whatever manner you excel! Or Peg-Leg will be coming after you.........very slowly, but the threat is still there..... :)

They are gorgeous! I wonder if they are from parrots? Such beautiful colors and they are in great condition too, it looks like.

Yes, the condition is fine. I can't remember if I wrote Dolly to tell her I did the post....I am sure I sent a link.
I think. Yikes. Now I'm losing my mind!
Truly, the pics don't do them justice. They are SOOOOOO bright! Like the colors in Mr. Mels feathers.

Are they from a pet bird? Love the yellow.

I don't know---I remember Dolly posting she had some feathers---this has been a long whle back and so I said I would love them. I need to go back through the FiberPirates posts and see what I can discover instead of being lazy!
they are just luscious; there is irridescent quality that doesn't show up in the pics. Of course, I shot them in the kitchen under yucky fluorescent light...... :)

Actually, I just found the original post and these were from a friend of Dollys, and I think they were purchased, so I am clueless to the actual bird origin!

Wow, they are great and the colours are fabulous. Would love to see what you end up doing with them. You and Dolly need to get back on your feet and using the hands for more art.

Believe me.....I am getting so MEAN that if I'm not back to some state of normal soon, I am afraid Gary will make me a tent out in the pine trees at the end of the lot.... ;)
I have no idea what to do with them other than worship them for the moment. I will probably draw them first, if the right hand will hold up. It got smacked too in the fall, and while I can type, I an not sure how well it will do with painting/drawing.
Ah well.........
