Well *Red* Studio

I love red.
I always have and always will.
I'm sure somewhere there is a thing as too-much-red, but for me, for now, there's always a bit of room for some more....

Like here, in red felt and sequins and beads....

Or here, in a delightful Mardi Gras throw....gotta love red shoes!

And yes, this is SUPPOSED to be red, but it's kinda fun against the Flame-Rug!
LOL!!!

Sometimes it's that little intense POP of red that makes things work....

My favorite images, hearts~~anatomical or not...definitely RED!

Spotlighted under a small lamp; red hand knit doily and a beautiful red beaded sacred heart pin from Jan...

Or here, in work from a Michael DeMeng class...new ways to play with RED!

And my sweet red heart milagro from New Orleans....aging perfectly; it looks like it has wings.
Today was a RED LETTER day!
Hope yours is too!

Pax....

It's a red letter day to visit! I've got two red jackets and they always keep me cheered.

Hey Buttercup~~

I have been cleaning my studio, and kept stumbling across red things. At first I did not even notice, then I thought it was amusing, then I decided it deserved photos!
Red always makes for HAPPY!!!

I'm not surprised that the colour of passion, heat and life is your fave!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Debra,

Yep, and my wall around my front door is painted Velvet Red, there's a red floral border going up the hall stairs, the kitchen counters are red.
In my father's parlance, "Looks like a damned whore-house" to which I would always ask, "Dad, how do you KNOW that???"
LOL! (he was a hoot....)

Love the theme you have going there..you plan on keeping it going as of the heart theme.. and of couse Red?

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Laura,

It's funny; there is a lot of white wall space in here, and that's why I think I love all the RED that I can shove in.
And the good thing was, it made me check the fire extinguisher when I had to DUST IT OFF to take the pic... ;-D
I'm always doing hearts, though take a break from them from time to time. Then I rotate back...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your shoes!!! Is there nothing that you cannot paint on?!?!?! Are those your surgical stocking? Good Girl. I love red too. I have a lot in my home. It's a color choice that changed with longevity. Strangely, my favorite color is still blue, although I no longer use in in decorating my home. Weird. Wishing you a most splendid Saturday, Oh Great Fuzzy One! BIG love, Deb

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Deb!

LOL! The shoes were WHITE...ugh....remnants of working for the DR. and I thought, hmmmmm, take the finish off w/nail polish remover and then use acrylic paints and acrylic varnish and there you GO! Easy painted shoes! (and yes, the contortion socks are on UNDER the ugly white socks, which were on top of the clean pile...)
I love blue too, but I just don't use it in the house. No idea why...odd, isn't it?

XXOO oh Blond One~~♥

So why aren't you a red head? I have tried, but can't picture you in any color but the one you have had. Love those shoes, did you paint them yourself? All the red, I love it too, and have a small collection of red glass ware, in cranberry red, I inherited the beginnings of it from my grandmother. Love all your hearts. I always enjoy looking closely at your art work, so much detail and depth. Have a happy Reddish Day!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Jan, if I can find the old pics, I'll send you one from when I was a red-head! Yes, I have had the hair about every color out there, short of the Manic Panic ones! (and in my dotage, I'm *looking* at those....)
Yes, I painted the shoes. I ought to try and find a cheap pair of leather shoes and show how to do it; it's fun and easy!
I have one piece of cranberry glass--it *was* a fairy lamp, but the top part cracked from a candle so it is a decoration now. I love that stuff though. So pretty!
Off to enjoy my Rojo Cinco De Mayo!

Yay red! I'm with you Anne. Open my wardrobe and there's more red than anything. Great post.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Thanks Jo!

I'm having fun with *colors* lately...seems I've been noticing one at a time, both in studio and in the yard.
I enjoy finding everything, even the fire extinguisher, and lumping it all into one post! :-)

Yes, I so agree! I have come to the conclusion that while pastel and muted colors may be "in", I get the most joy from bright and clear color and a splash of red is wonderful!! One of my fave colors to paint with is naphthol red... It's bee a good day!! Love, Silke

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

I'm with you Silke...I don't really care for the pastel palette that is so vogue right now. Life's too short not to live in blazing COLOR! :-)
Whatever shades those may be, bright is right!!!
(and the more, the merrier...)

Smokin hot reds. Love the shoes- yikes are they cool! Love of course Jan's heart. She is so amazing and I don't think she gives herself enough credit for her varied talents. Your table and lamp with the heart = perfect. Your book cover piece with the hit of red is spectacular, haven't seen that one. Love love it. xox

Thanks Corrine~~I like doing little vignettes around and about, when they are out of the general line of fire! LOL! As in...away from paint, glue, scissors, power tools.... ;-D
And you are right, Jan does NOT give herself enough credit for her level of creativity. She does amazing things....SAYS US!

Peggy, you NEED some of the Gray-Whatever! You'd have fun working with it.
Just remember, a thicker coating works better to get it to shine....

Whew, I've arrived here, finally, only to be greeted by a blaze of color and passion and oh those shoes! Now where are you wearing those shoes? To the grocery store? To the oncology clinic? ( oh yes!)

Your colors positively glow and pulsate, Anne. Anyone who didn't know you but saw your work would know of your zest and fire. It's a great way to walk the planet xoxo

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey KJ, you KNOW that I wear those shoes everywhere! Seriously...I do!
And generally, someone smiles when they see them and asks about them. (smiling is GOOD)
So I'm walking this planet in COLOR!
