Monday Musings....

This is what the day is like......

It's Monday and rainy...a quiet start to a busy week.
I'm listening to Jill Tracy, which is perfect music for a gray day. Melancholy and bittersweet, it accompanies this morning in mood and color. I highly recommend her work, if you like a pinch of dark arsenic with your sugar.
I have been in contemplative mode; the e-mail box is quiet (and that's unusual) and thankfully I have not wasted the morning on Face Book. Working to rearrange some parts of life.
My weekend was spent scribbling down ideas for working on a slight re-do of the studio. It has been in need for quite a while, and now I have the oomph to tackle it bit by bit.
I may not be Wonder Woman yet, but I still have my satin tights! LOL!
Knowing that it is *possible* to get this space the way I want it makes the stress lift. I love a good challenge and don't mind saying, this is a humdinger. I am doing it strictly for ME.
In between cleaning, moving and dumping things, I allow myself some collage time~~it sweetens the pot. I don't mind the time spent if I can grab a few minutes to add to the paper and glue.
There is still a large project rolling about in my mind. I am making notes and figuring out the details. I thought I would be into it by now, but responsibility for home and hubs and my own lack of table space have delayed it.
You know what?
I don't mind.
It will happen in the right time, and will be glorious. I am thankful for my home, my dear husband, cooking a good meal, sitting at the dinner table with him...laughing about the inane and insignificant.
Life is good.

.....but this is how I feel!!!!

It's the small things that count above all the grandiose ideas and hyperbole. Easy to get caught up in it, but in the end, like cotton candy, melted and nothing to show.
I'll take my rainy day, comfort from the studio, happiness from my life and love.

That first pic reminds me of a Monet. Hell, send some rain our way...WE NEED IT!!! Had a "brown out" Sat....worst I can remember...dirt everywhere...too big a job for "Swifter!!" LOL

It's those little things that really matter, like little kisses from God. Enjoy your quiet day and create. I shall be with the invincible Miss Daisy doing our Walmart thing...it's been 2 weeks for me..yikes. Also, need to refrain from going after old cholos!! LOL

Loves ya,
G

We could all follow your example, Anne ~ slow down and appreciate the simple good things in life. This I say as I am off to tackle a zillion things that MUST be done today.
I will think of you enjoying your rainy day in your studio as I dart from one place to another. !!!!!!!
Your photos are wonderful. Your words are inspirational, as always.
Have a good day, dear friend.

Hey Georgina,

We have not had rain for a good while--the ground had been like a ROCK the last time I mowed~~hoping this was enough to help the plants and trees, though we are AGAIN, forecast for freeze.....
Puh--leeze!
I'll be thinking of ya, doin' the Daisy-Thang! ;-D

Thanks Audrey~~

I guess this has been a productive morning, and I have found I actually feel freer to work out HERE when I know I have met my tasks in the house.
Dinner is started in the crockpot (I love those things..), laundry taken care of, mending done, some collage done.....off to work on the planning and implementing!
Hope your day goes good!

Hi Anne! I would love a rainy day. We're having a drought. Cwaazee. I think it's good to slow down and just enjoy being. I have a do-list a mile long, and not much on it really matters. I'm hoping to get a chance to plant a rose bush I bought three weeks ago. :)) xox

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Well, I have a sprig of a rose bush sitting in the kitchen window, two weeks now Pam! So we're CLOSE on that....
I don't know that we got what we needed here water-wise. I just know it's a nice change from the weird-o weather and also, I have no guilt staying in on a rainy day! They are nice now and then. (without storm warnings....)
My to-do list is lost.
Too long.
One thing at a time. :-)

Me too Corrine!
Have thought of you as I stare at papers and try and think what goes where....and know you'd have it all put together in the time it takes me to decide on one little PIECE.
o...m...g...
If it wasn't so pitiful, it would be REALLY FUNNY!

Rainy days are perfect for contemplation and fresh starts....the water is very cleansing.

The storm was here Thursday and Friday (in CA)and it shook the house, it was so powerful! Love the rain!
Can't wait to see this big project you speak of ;)

Hey Mary,

Right now, it's more like the studio of my NIGHTMARES! (and my fault too....ack!)
Slow and steady.
I'll get there.

Hi Cameron,

I have a friend in San Fran who had posted some AMAZING photos of lightening and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Impressive was an understatement! WOW!
I can't wait to see my bigger project either... :-)
All in good time....

Oh Anne, so true, all of it! I read something today about happiness and it basically said if we don't feel the "OMG I just won the lottery!!!" excitement then we feel deflated. You know (and I know) the beauty is in the simple things often taken for granted. The sunrise, a rainbow...etc., etc.! I took these three glorious days off with NO pressure to do anything. I just let them unfold and I feel so much better. yay! My depression has lifted. I'm not sure what the heck I was even depressed ABOUT, but I was and it was tough.
yeah girlfriend, life is good!

Lo, I think just the STRESS of a work environment can depress people. It's that constant having to perform at 110% with no room for error or to think.
The human body is not made for that.
Glad you got some time just for YOU....for all the GOOD LITTLE THINGS that makes life, well, LIFE.

Ah, yes, that is the way to enjoy life! In the small things... I am just so impressed that you make notes before you reorganize. Maybe I should try that?! Oh, who am I kidding. I'd first have to make (not buy) a notebook, find the perfect pen, write my notes, paint a few pretty pictures to go with them - and I'd never get to my organizing project... ;-)

Love, Silke

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

LOL Silke!
I *must* write things down with this brain of mine. Or the idea is gone and I'm standing around looking utterly clueless!La-la-la....
I've gone in to reorganize before--just dumping and purging--and that did not work. This time I want a little more control on the process.
Eying things in the garage that can go in the dump too.....not telling Hubby! >:-}

Good luck with the studio re-organization - I don't envy you that job. However, to look on the bright side, just think of the goodies you will unearth that you had forgotten you had!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

It's TRUE M.A.!
I found one of the boxes you sent me---I had put it in a *very safe place*...LOL! You know exactly what I mean...
And then after I get the shelves redone, etc, I get to go through all the stuff and downsize.
It's a huge job, but I'm really looking forward to it because my little computer corner is already feeling 1000% better!

I love the rainy, shimmery photo.... to me, it symbolises hope, dreams, the gentle side of wet weather! We had such a drought during the Winter months...but these last six weeks of persistent storms have ended it - and my *Rain Quota* is filled..... I hope your weather turns sunny and warm (not HOT)!

One thing I have learned these last few years is to appreciate and treasure all the gifts God gives us for free.....Nature, Animals, Rainbows, - even Lightning....and most important...all the people we love.....

Let's SKYPE soon.....one more day of work for me.....

Love,

♥ FBBBFF ♥
