Jack Frost

A visitor came last night.....quietly, leaving a trace of white across the landscape.

In frosty cold, I gazed at fields only yesterday gold....
Today, white and glowing in the cold morning light.
Lungs filled with the chill,
I stood and captured.
The remains of delicious Fall
All aglow
Deep petticoats of bronze and green,
Soon to drop
And blow into the Winter breeze.

Pax....

Gorgeous shots Anne. I love how you captured that misty quality when the ground is so cold it moves the frost up into a mist. Nice tree foliage! Thanks for sharing your part of the world. xox Corrine

Shouldn't have stepped out there, but the temptation...well....you know!
It was just too pretty not to capture!

Beautiful!!!!! The personification of Autumn....multi-coloured leaves, a few branches already bare..and all that glistening *silvery-white* on the ground.... I don't blame you, I couldn't have resisted stepping out and photographing it! (And as usual, your words were a perfect accompaniment!)

Love,

♥ FBBBFF ♥

Robin, that middle photo makes me want to pick up the paint brushes that I put away long ago....
There is a quality to Fall, a magic in the air, a feel that everything is going to sleep and will wake wonderfully later.
The last colorful dance before tidying up for winter....

Ohhhh, lovely, Anne! You captured the feel of the air. :) Aren't you happy it is fall? Don't you wish winter would just stay away for a few more weeks? I love this time of year. I hope you are feeling better, my friend! xox Pam

Yes, I wish Fall was a longer season~~but then, maybe we would not appreciate it as much.
I am afraid to write this but I feel a bit better this a.m. but taking it easy all weekend.
If we lived close, we could go play in the leaves! I love that sound and the feel around my ankles! :-)

Gorgeous shots Anne, Did I miss something, you can't go outside?
The frost is rather thick up north here now, soon time to fly south.

Hey Kim,

Yeah, I've been down for, hmmmm, three or four weeks with really bad bronchitis.A couple of rounds of meds, frazzled from being in, and worn out.
BUT!
I had to sneak out for those shots this morning!
Bad me! LOL!

I think the sneak out was worth it, or I hope so! Hope it doesn't set you back! these are gorgeous photos, great capture.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Well Jan, that cold morning air seemed to feel good but I didn't push it. It was just a quick, out, shoot and back in!
So I should be okay.... ;-)

We both have the 'drat bug'...and between blowing noses and coughing I haven't done much blog reading! We had the same 'white' stuff on our deck this a.m. almost skidded down the steps taking little one for her 1st potty break of the day! Drats! She was just starting to go down some of the steps! Take care, Anne!!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey, you take care too! I figure after this, I should be self-immunized for the season! ;-D
And frost is lovely when you don't have to WALK on it....

Beautiful photos, Anne. Worth the step outside since you were quick and careful. I'm not ready for Fall to come to an end. It just got here. We've been having beautiful days but COLD at night. Frost warning tonight. ):
I am happy to read that you are feeling pretty good. Sorry I've been absent ~ just unbelievably busy. You are in my thoughts, though.

Just so beautiful

Hey Audrey,

I don't think any of us are ready for Fall to end, especially after such a wicked Summer. This has been the clearing breath of fresh air to rejuvenate us all....
I always wish Fall would come slower and last much much longer....time to examine every leaf and tree and all the colors.

Hey Lori,

My second favorite frost is when we get the heavy hoar frost that crystallizes on everything, making it look like a fairy tale.
That is usually in Winter, when we have the combination of cold weather and fog, and then it is AMAZING!
And you have to hurry to shoot it because once the sun hits, it shatters like glass--the air full of bits of shimmer!

Thanks Laura!

Would be fun to try and capture it as a collage....the colors are so striking and the sections pretty defined.
Hmmmmmm.....

Such a lovely, poetic post.

Where oh where has September and October gone?

My computer is running on molasses agin today. It's lingering here without posting my comment.
Now is a good time to hang tiny purple lights in the studio window in time for halloween. I think I'll leave them up all year long! You can see by how long my visit has been, blogger is messing with me by not showing what I type!

That said, I'm bailing! Have a wonderful evening.

Great photos/words but oh how I hate the idea of winter coming this year. It's too soon. Go out there with the hair dryer and melt the frost please.
