The Afterglow of No Blog......

I don't know about the rest of you, but being blogless for several days was both a blessing and a curse.
I got a LOT of work done, and it gave me some deep insight into the amount of time I spend with the blog; cropping photos, trying to get a post together that makes sense, looks appealing, etc. The extra time was the upside.
The downside, of course, was not communicating with all the wonderful bloggers out there. I would wager that the analytics on Face Book for the past couple of days went straight through the roof!!! Because we all seemed to swarm over for some *quality time*!  ;-)
And I hate to admit that it is quicker and easier (for the most part) to slap a few words onto FB and forget it.......
But it is not the same as *Talking* through the blog. I am glad to have it back.
My current project is one that will not be on here until it is done and delivered; I have taken maybe ONE photo in process because I have been working so fast to finish it and, well, I can no longer remember much of anything. HA! As if you did not know that!
So instead, I leave you with one of our exquisite and amazing after-storm sunsets.....when I look at the heavens and wonder how they can go from utterly frightening to completely beautiful-beyond-words so quickly.

There is a divine hand involved no doubt.
To you all, have a wonderful weekend! I'll be about as I can.

Even the scary storm skies can be breathtakingly beautiful, especially over the trees and fields where you can still see for miles. I always look forward to your posts, I'm off to my second cup of coffee armed with a great picture.

It always blows me away....some of the most beautiful colors, light, clouds are after storms. (as my poor overburdened computer will attest!)
I'm on cup #2, and need to get ready to run to town for little things like, oh, FOOD.

We get some of THE most amazing sunrises. Unfortunately, I never remember to take my camera up to the bus stop (at the top of the hill, which overlooks farmland). That is because I am still ASLEEP when I drive up there. :)) I enjoyed the break from Blogger. Now if FB would only break for a few days, and at the same time as Blogger! WOO HOOO! Think of what I could get done! ;)) xox Pam

Lovely photo! You always capture amazing moments in nature! :)

Hey Pam...

LOL! Oh I so hear you! I need to have this thing on a timer and then it totally shuts down. It was a luxury though to play on FB while I was working~~had to take a few breaks or I couldn't move, so I sort of have an excuse..... ;-)
I've given up on sunrises; I seem to be asleep then!

Thanks Cathy!

It's luck. I was standing outside in PJs, barefoot in the mud to get the shots. The sky changes so quick, if you don't grab the camera and run, you miss everything.
I got a few other good shots from this session....they're for later! :-)

facebook doesn;t do it for me. i love blogging and i love comments and commenting and i missed it all. funny for me that it didn't feel like extra time while blogger was down. i didn't seem to miss a beat with all the downs of chores and the ups of living. :^)

i know you are on deadline mode anne. i think you work extra creatively and productively that way. is that right?

and yet, you still take time to notice the sun rise and set. thank you for sharing that too.

happy weekend to you, anne.

love

Pretty great photo--definitely the way weather happens around here-one moment beautiful and the next the ominous clouds roll in. I don't like facebook-I love blogging and looking at other peoples blogs. have a great weekend!

Enjoy your weekend Anne. It was a good day really with Blogger down, it was missed but I accomplished a little bit of house cleaning, etc. I love the photo. Take care.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Karen,

I really did miss blogger as I miss the conversation that goes on around posts. But on the other hand, it gave me a chunk of time to WORK HARD (I really need an internal *off* switch! LOL!) and get a lot done.
FB has it's pros and cons; was nice to have, but not the same.
And yes, once the creativity has hit, I crank the work out. It's sort of like this small window of opportunity.... ;-)

Hey Janet,

I like blogs because they are more intimate~~you get a sense of being invited into a studio.
My latest peeve with FB is all the JUNK that gets in the stream, and I realized I missed some important posts from friends, dealing w/illness, etc.
Blogs are nicer....

I love to have you comment Annie but just looking at your art is reward enough for me. Several thimes this spring we have had a break in all the rain and wind and say Alleluia, but in just a few days it is all back again. No new flowers set out yet at this haseanda. blessings

Hey Gloria,

I think we both need timers for the blogs!
Then we have the best of both worlds, and can get stuff DONE! (mine always takes a long time to get the post up....photos and everything, and me being uber-picky....haha!)

Hey Peggy,

I am ready to build an ARK! We have had so much rain (and more today and tomorrow) that when I mow, it's like mowing a cranberry bog. UGH!
But~~~you get those glorious sunsets! ;-)
And sometimes a bit of a rainbow too!

Beautiful!! I love skies like that - the best were in New Mexico. There, we used to see storm spectacles that had us pulling over in the car so we could watch the show. And the sunsets were amazing!! Here, there are too many trees around us to see much of anything from our house...

I know just what you mean with those few days without blogger. It made me realize how much I value my connections in the blog world and how much I would miss them!!

Enjoy your day!! Love, Silke

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

I know Silke....I need the extra time, but I love my blogging friends.
So it's just balance I guess!
I wish I was a bit further out in the country....sometimes there are absolutely amazing HUGE cloud formations, but I can't capture them...

Here I was away and thinking I had missed to much and didn't have time to check in but one quick visit and blogger made life crazy anyway. Glad to see your glorious sunset and hear your effervescent voice Ms Anne. xox Corrine

Hi and welcome!

Thanks for the kind remarks on my art....I often feel like I do not have nearly enough time for what I want to make when balancing life.
But at least some of it makes it on here!

Glad there is such beauty to help you forget the disquiet of the storm. You're right, blogging is addictive and time-consuming but hey, look at all the new friends you make!!!!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

I know Jo! And that is why I go into spaz-mode when the thing won't work! LOL!!!
I have been very blessed with meeting wonderful people and it truly is a tool for like-minded folks to meet, with miles making no difference.
I just need to *schedule* things better.... ;-)

Oooh, looks like the tree's on fire!

Yup, not having Blogger was strangely liberating. Unlike you, though, I still did not get much done. Good luck with your project!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

I'm just rolling along Bella! As long as I am done before Pentecost Sunday, life here is VERY VERY good!!!
(and I am still sitting on the blog/no blog fence...LOL!)

I'm so out of it with my paleo-dialup recently that I didn't even know that blogger was down! Now I can sit here at my Farmer's Market with wifi since it's in a better area for reception. I miss my high speed ans posting and all. of you it's been so sporadic since I returned to the northland.
I hope I'm not being too rude to my potential customers being glued to the iPad though.

Well, you missed the great Blogger meltdown, and I am sure many Blogees melting down too! LOL!!! (yes, me included..)
But hey, you have to do what you have to do to stay connected. I'm always afraid our broadband co. will tank as they have had big financial trouble.....and dial up here is, well, PALEO!

you know, i was away from the blog for about 2 weeks becos i simply needed the blogging time to make things!! didn't know that blogger had an issue. came back on the 13th and posted ... and started reading about the problems with ppl losing their posts!! and the problem was finally fixed on the day i chose to blog after a long break! i thought that was such a weird coincidence, but a nice one :)

about FB, ya ... i really actually prefer FB now cos so many things are happening there! i mean, most of the so called blogging crowd has actually "migrated" from a more traditional blog to FB or Twitter (i hate twitter) and tumblr where ppl can just upload images and maybe a few words. i dunno, the trend seems to be going that way and along with it our future "market" for those of us who are selling. few remain here ... i being one of them who still linger becos of sentimental value, or maybe becos i'm long winded :) but yea ... when time is short, FB's the way :) and you know what, the "like" button is a brilliant idea, it allows ppl to let you know that they have visited you eventho they don't leave a comment. so blogger should have a "like" button :)

went to the cinema today and realize that even hollywood is going FB now for their films! instead of seeing "visit our official movie site at www.transformer.com" ... it now says "visit us at Transformers on Facebook" which tickled me quite a bit!! you see ...

anyhow ... me long winded :)

I had a blog hiatus too - because i didnt have a modem! I agree face book is easy -but the conversation isnt as good. its expedient and its often banal. so. blogging takes effort and of course the effort is evident. Blogging to me is an extension of my creative life. Its my version of the morning pages a lot of people do. Im not a journal keeper. the blog is though.

loved that sunset and looking forward to seeing this new art!

Gorgeous shot!!! I've been in Canada for the past five days without internet access. I heard blogger was being a pain in the arse anyway so I didn't miss much!
I have to say I felt disconnected a bit, but amazingly, I survived!

I'm glad you're working on new pices to send to the gallery. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

The photo is a stunner, thank you!

off to restock the larder :)
