Shine On....

It was glorious......even when the clouds rolled in.....

I am away from the computer most of today. First, having a new power line buried and anticipate no electricity most of the time. Second, doing the yearly greetings and salutations to the Doctors in my life and letting the moths out of the checkbook at the same time. Hmmmmm......I'd rather be on-blog.
Saturday evening I had about a one hour time window to try and get photos of the moon. Out of I don't know how many attempted shots, I managed a couple that were of any use. The cameras (yes, plural) I own simply are not sufficient to do what I want. So I am beginning the WHINE for a new camera and hope DH catches on.  ;-)  Because I really want a big honker and I know what the answer is going to be. I need you to channel whining powers my way...LOL!!!
Anyway, I'll catch up with everyone tomorrow, and in the mean time, shine on!

Oh Anne I know what you mean. My daughter were out on our deck and I have an 18 zoom camera finepix with lots of settings that I do not know how to use LOL. I could not get the detail that she got with her camera she has Cannon Rebel SLR and has taken on line classes and her photo had so much more detail. She also could get a better shot because she is taller than I LOL.

PS Your photo is still better than mine.

Bunny, I've come to the conclusion I really want one of those telescope cameras! LOL!!!
I bet---I really bet if I *READ THE MANUAL* that there are settings I don't know about.
But gosh....that would be too easy and take TIME.
:-D
So, I have the moon pic and it's good enough.

Well at least you got a shot that looks like the moon!! I need to read my manual too. I tried every setting (as you already know) and I got an orange blur. I did enjoy it anyway, but dang I wanted so much to share it!!

LOL!!!!
I just started switching everything until I found something that vaguely resembled my old SLR settings! And then there was the issue of NOT using a tripod....omg.....and freezing, and not being able to feel the camera---hahahaha!!!
I think I burned off about 75 shots and have, ummmmm, THREE???
I hate it that I missed the horizon shot because it was cheddar colored, as was the massive glow around it.
I got *doubles* of those....;-D

Well Marilyn, I'm gonna give it the old college try!
I just hate losing a whole day, but then *I* was the one who decided it was cheaper gas wise to do both the same day......

The moon was spectacular, wasn't it? It is so hard to photograph something so incredible and have the shot do it justice.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Especially when you are not using your TRIPOD (yes, I have one, no TWO....) and you're so excited you can't stand still....geez! Worse than a kid...LOL!!!

Your picture is better than any of the 25 pics I took with two different cameras. Major frustration here -- (trying not to whine)-- I need a new camera too. Maybe we can get a group discount. :~)

Hi Anne! I was waiting for YOUR Moon photo - as I knew it would be powerful And you did not disappoint! I couldn't see La Luna in SF that night due to a HUGE storm.....but now, I am seeing her in all her mystical glory!

THANK YOU!

Hugs,

Whine, whine, whine, whine, did he hear it?! At least you got a photo of the moon. The night before we saw it, and even then it was huge! The other nights have been cloudy so no photos....
I know what you mean about checkbooks, everything keeps breaking around here, so I'm whining for money! Fat chance!
Take Care,
Ulrike

That is a gorgeous picture! I love the cloud fingers. :) And all I did was stand in the yard and look up - lol!! Talk about an underachiever, I didn't even TRY to take a pic. It was glorius! xox Pam

Hey Anne!
I think that is a great shot of the moon with the clouds rolling by!
I am channeling some whining your way - I hope it helps. With the beautiful photos you take, you deserve a big new camera!!!
SNOW? You are getting snow? It is time for that to be over. But, I do remember snow in April, May, (and even June once) when I lived in Ohio.
Stay warm - Spring will get there soon.

I missed the "big" moon...was getting ready to go out. Later that evening, I made a comment about what happened to the size of the moon...was supposed to be a hu-ege one....SM told me I missed it because I was getting ready to go out, but said it was a gorgeous site...."Gee, hon, thanks a lot!!" (said with dripping sarcasm!!)

Looking forward to tomorrows blog. Have a good one.

Loves ya,

For the first time, I didn't even try. I figured I would see thousand of photos of this moon....hope the power upgrade goes smoothly. We are working on WWII vintage transponders where we are in the woods. Funny though, they rarely break down.....xox Corrine

Hey kiddies...
I am back...no one was injured (either at the hospital or with me driving...LOL!!!!).
And----could you have guessed?----the power line is still laying in the yard! ;-D
Yepper.
Those of you with e-mail addy's, I'll try and pop ya a line.
I'm worn out from my *big adventure*.
And yes, we ALL need to WHINE LOUD and get a group discount on camera gear!!! Because we DESERVE IT.
I said so....

I really wanted to see this super moon from down under but rain and clouds kept it invisible. However, I was just telling Diane Lou that I had a dream about it, and then I turned to your blog and there it was! Fabulous and amazing. Thank you!

Now I'm heading outside with my camera to see what I can manage to get. Of course I'm downstairs right now and I'd be willing to bet that the moon is behind a ton of clouds!!

Bella Sinclair said...

Yup, size matters.

Beautiful shot! All it needs is someone on a broomstick. :)

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Carol!

It was truly impressive.....but I am a *lunatic* anyway...heehee!
I still need a bigger camera... ;-D

Hey M.A.

Yes, I was going to try for round two last night, but it was overcast before twilight and then we had a whopping thunderstorm.
At least I wasn't standing out in the rain with an umbrella trying to get a photo! ;-D

Well, at least with the moon!
My broomstick is in for service at the moment...but if I had been that close---WOW! I could have got a better photo!

Nice shot. We were too overcast and I would have taken a lousy picture anyhow. I remember seeing one huge moon as I moved my daughter and I from California to Minnesota (we're not there anymore). It was about 1993 I think. I told her it looked fake, like an old sci-fi movie but the first glimpse made me wonder who was in the hot air balloon. It was that big. So big it fooled me into thinking it couldn't possibly be the moon. I wonder if that was another super moon. Ah well, I saw that one and missed this one.

Hope your day at the doctor's went well and that you now have electricity to keep warm with.

Your worm moon is so mystical...I think you captured a photo with a story in the mystical light. Glorious. I hope the doctors were kind to my dear Anne! Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Freebird,

Now that you mentioned it, I remember seeing a moon around that time (we would have just been moved here) that was---as you said---like from a Sci-Fi movie. It was so huge on the horizon that it looked threatening...LOL! HUGE. And beautiful.
I'm just glad I got a few pics---it was amazing to see!!!

Hi Mary Helen,

Even though I got a couple of good clear shots, this was my favorite, because of the atmosphere. I could see the clouds fingering across the surface through the camera.....it was odd and fun watching them move!

Amazing shot Anne!! Gorgeous! I don't know what I was thinking . . . never ever made it outside to get a photo! lol I am happy I get to enjoy yours! :)

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Well, I would say you were thinking SMART! I was cold and sore from the little escapade, with not a whole lot to show for it!
Should have used my tripod....*sigh*......LOL!!!

well, i sure think you got a great shot :) We couldn't even tell the moon looked any bigger from here, by the time it got high enough in the sky to see over the trees it pretty much looked like it always does - but it was beautiful! Hope your doc appts went smoothly.

oh Anne, this is stunning!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hi Laura and Karin!

I have to admit.....it was worth a day of uncooperative body parts for a lovely shot!
It is all the little things that are worth doing. I am not a *big ticket* person; it's the day to day moments that I love being able to capture.
And share. :-)
