A Valentine Unlike Conventional Hearts

Remember that ornery little skull??? Well, he was MOST DEMANDING as far as being dressed properly......
I promised a finished piece from one of the samples I had used in the gel tutorial, and here it is. I am hoping--reeeeeeally hoping!--that today is NOT the day DH decides to look at the blog, because it is my gift to him tomorrow.

HA! I won! Free makeover, and now I be a Pirate Skelly!!!
That ornery little skull I had to keep an eye on was just a pip to dress properly. He was totally into the Cap'n Jack look.......what's a girl to do??? Just give in and dress 'em! LOL! And I had to have just the right bone to hang from the bottom, plus I couldn't find the coins I wanted and settled for this one. It's okay, but you know how it is when you want something else and can't find it. I need those shelves like they used to have in garages; all the little jars with their lids nailed to the shelf. Believe me...SOME DAY!

And, providing I am not laid lower with this current migraine, I want to put a little something fun up here for my readers on Valentine's Day itself....
This has been a delightful journey through process; I'm not sure how I will follow it up.
I may have to take a few days off and get back to work hard on my Michael deMeng class. I have enjoyed that thoroughly and it soon will end. I am hoping he will have another, because I would sign up immediately. How ideal; work in your own studio and get the benefits of class time when ever you have free time. Economical, fun, educational.
In fact, a goodly portion of what I learned from the class made this Valentine. I could have done one without it, but numerous techniques are in the final product that I learned along the way, between the laughs.
That's what I always hope to provide here, laughs and some learning fun!
So I'm out of here for now~~and remember, love isn't just for Valentines Day or for a Sweetie~~it is for everyone.

Pax....

Oh, Anne! I am smitten. This has everything I love in it: pirates, skellys, texture, money - haha. It is really wonderful, and you are so talented. Happy pre-Valentines, and Gary if you are reading this, be sure to act surprised! :) xox Pam

Thanks for the tutorial Anne! It was fun following along and now the finished product--I think the skull is dressed beautifully!! Johnny would be proud...

Hey Pam,

I'm laughing! I had to wait for DH to vacate the premises to get on here and answer!
If he doesn't like it, I'll send it your way....like I think I'll get it out of his hot little hands...LOL!!!

Hey Janet,

Thanks! Now I have to figure out a follow up act~~~hahaha!
That little skull was a complete PITA, especially since it kept squirting out of my hands when I would work on it.
Maybe next time I'll leave them on the body until they're painted and THEN pop them off!

Anne, I love that Valentine card...it's just tooo KEW-EL!!!! I agree that online tutorials are the best...I've signed up for a few and even had one myself (never again). I'm going to check out DeMeng's next tutorial...he is a character and has one heck of a sense of humour...need lots of humour when I'm learning something!!

Didn't make a Valentine for my DH, but did buy him one. Every year he gives me these beautiful, meaningful Valentines and I always end up giving him one of those Shoe Box types...hey, that's just how I roll!! So this year I got him a lovely, meaningful card and a bag of heart shaped Reese's Peanut Butter patties...he loves them! So yesterday, while I was slowly going towards the cabinet where we keep our coffee mugs and glasses, a card falls out and it's from him...a Hoops and Yoyo Valentine!! LOL Tables turned this year!!

Am enjoying your journey and learning at the same time...gots to get me some of dem gels!!! Have a great day and "Migranes, stay away from my pal!!" Looking forward to more posts...count down for the Vegas trip starts today...oey vey!!

Loves ya,
G

Wonderful! Thank you for putting a smile on my face :)

Hey Georgina,

LOL!! That's priceless about the cards--sounds like DH and I. Usually I do my best to find a monkey card, but they are getting scarce. A monkey card is good for ANY occasion. (when I die, I hope someone send a monkey card...SERIOUSLY!)
I could sure go for the bag of reeses....ya got a spare??? LOL!
I think Michaels next on-line class is going to be about the tools used; I'll check my list and e-mail you.

I reread this post this morning and had to repost it---trying to write and have a migraine (which seems to be gone thankfully!) is actually hilarious!

Ahhhhhh! He's going to LOVE this! What a truly fabulous and masculine Valentine's, but still one that makes the ladies' hearts swoon. Yup, Cap'n Jack looks good both with and without skin, just as I predicted. It was fun following you along this journey. Hope you have a wonderfully romantic Valentine's Day!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

LOL Bella!

He could keep the skin and just do away with the clothing I suppose......hahahahahaha!!!!
Okay, I need sleep or my mouth washed out with soap! ;-D

I know Johnny would be proud...have you considered sending him some of your images? I have had an up and down weekend and spent a lot of time in bed with a terrible pain in the ass Cold! I am sweating the fever out as I type this probably incoherent message to you. Happy Valentine's Day! Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

You and my daughter went to the same Valentine's Day card making class. Today, she made a Valentine's Day card with a polar bear with bloody chainsaw hands! It said something like this... "if you ever get mauled by a bear with chainsaw hands I hope he stays away from your face, because I think you are cute." !!! Now, I wonder to whom she will give the card??? I hope he has a sense of humor.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Girls,

I had a vision with this one from the get-go; I just had to find a photo of the original POTC promotional lit for the skull, as it was different in the later movie promos.
Yes, it is better than RUM!!!! LOL! (cheaper too...I think!)
