A *Feet-Up* Moment.......

Yep, those are some big hams....and another big ham on the table....

Ah, I live for those few quiet moments, when I have on hand knit socks, my Doc's and the feet are up.
Resting.
Doing nothing.
Those days are few and far between.
But I'm popping out until the 17th and try and get some work finished up around here; some is class work and some is sort through, pick up and put away or throw away. It seems I have managed to get the studio in a state that is, well, beyond being able to work in.
I managed to find a small corner yesterday to put an ATC together, and that was all the free table space available.
Something's gotta give.

Yeah, I'm gonna need these....bouncing soles!
I was e-mailing a friend and we both were saying how we felt as if neither of us had accomplished much this winter (don't suppose my AGE has anything to do with it? Nope, thought not....) and soon Spring would be here with it's own work demands.
I find late Winter odd....I want everything ready for Spring yet I would rather hole up in the studio and not leave. No cooking, no cleaning; grab it and run---you're on your own.
It is that last chance to have more dark hours for work and the quiet of the outdoors sans mowers, tractors, loud cretin-mobiles and the other things that come with warmer weather.
Now matter how I have despised the hard physical labor of this past Winter, I am not yet ready for it to go. I want to squeeze a few more dark mornings at the computer out, have a few extra pieces of art made, knit another pair of socks....just enjoy the remaining chill before the balmy breezes start again. (a.k.a. tornadic storms!)
So I'm hiding out. Just for a day or so.
You should too!  ;-)

Pax....

Wow, can I relate!! I want to do nothing but be in my studio creating or on the couch knitting or in the kitchen baking or on the couch again eating cookies... I love winter, but it doesn't seem to slow down as much as it used to - you know what I mean? I feel like I'm always on the go and so checking out for a few days like you are doing is very wise... Enjoy!! Love, Silke

Silke, I think this winter was just so HARD due to snow, it really cut into productive time. I'm sitting here this morning trying to figure out my list....LOL! I mean, A LIST! Or I'll forget what I was supposed to do today, besides class work.
And the more I work in the studio, the less I want to deal with all the real world stuff that needs *dealing with*~~~StruwwelAnne!!! ;-)

Great socks!! Only you could get by with that fashion statement...and I love the bug poking out. I miss Milo! So slow down and have a great time puttering - I love puttering - really clears my head....as for winter, well....it'll get to 81 today here........................

Linda, I get more compliments on these socks---they were a super quick knit (for knee socks) but I need to make kilt garters to hold them up.
Yep, Melvin was supervising the photo shoot.....I miss his little cousin too, as he is so well behaved, I never have to worry. ;-D
This is definitely a puttering type day.....

Good Morning Anne Sweetie...
Oh I LOVE the DOCs and those socks are absolutely divine. Love the bright colors. Yep you are an artist.

I can't wait to see what you create in this time off dear one. I know it will be fabulous. You see such beautiful color in that artistic mind of yours.

Stay warm. We had another 80 degree day yesterday. Supposed to be another one today. Then they are calling for rain for 3 days. Love it? Nope, don't want the rain. Just warm me up please....

Have a beautiful day sweet one. See ya soon. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

Thanks Janet~~they look great with a dress, and my Mary Jane Doc's! (yes, I love Doc Martens!)

Hey Sherry,

They are calling for the 50's here one day, then I think back cold. This is far too early for warm weather; it seems like we don't have seasons anymore---just severe temp swings.
I am probably going to be doing a lot of picking up in the time off~~the whole place has gone to rot and what I have to do for my class are more color washes, which no doubt I will post.
So maybe color, but not excitement! LOL!!

~hide away...soak up the dark quite days of winter lingering...so so soon as you said the wheel will turn...energy renewed...revamped...more bounce will be in your step!

i had every good intention of creating away during the cold rainy days that were coming but found myself far more content in just being...relaxing and resting...messes i have made but not much completed...you are not alone my dear friend...many are restless and stirring yet trying to hold onto these final days where we are to be hibernating!

love your socks! i am always in awe of those who can knit socks or really anything in the round...me its all straight lines for now!!! much love light and blessings~

Everyone seems to have had a similar winter....and yes, I am hanging onto these last days before the hustle-bustle of Summer starts. (far too soon, too!)
I knit socks on two circular needles, which sounds confusing, but it is like knitting each side on a straight needle. Lay a sock flat (smash the toe down so it's top side and sole side) and there you have it.....plus I do them both at the same time so I don't end up with strays from *Artist Roaming Mind Syndrome*!!! LOL!!!
I have concluded I must be part bear, as I love hibernation.....

LOVE the socks, Anne!! I have several pair of MissMatched socks (name brand) - they don't match and they are blasted with every color imaginable. (One sock stripes - the other circles - that sort of thing). I always get some stares when I wear them in public as it is so obvious they are different. I don't care - I love them!!
Enjoy your time off! I need to get my color creation posted when I return from SC! TIME!!!!! !!%%$##!!**&!Ack!!!!!

LOL!!!
I hear you Audrey! I thought I would get to the color wash today, but discovered a pile of bills, need to hit the bank, and then there was dinner to get going, dishes, e-mail, you name it.....
I surrender!
Have fun in S.C.!!!! Are there SHELLS on that beach??? :-)

Last time I was there (May), I picked up about 20 starfish off the beach (dead ones, of course). There are small shells. If I see anything worthwhile, I'll pick up a couple for you.

I Love these photos and the socks, of course. I like the winter. There's just something cosy and easy about it.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Well, it's been cozy this year, but it has not been an easy winter. Usually they are much nicer; snow that is not threatening to swallow you! LOL!!!
But I love it to wear my hand knit socks (and make more too!)
I'm more a winter person, for the most part!

I love my docks too, baut your socks rock.
You knitted them?
Wow!!!!
I want some like this too.
Cheers

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

I knit most of my winter socks Janine. This is German yarn--it is expensive here, but I bet it would be a better price there!
And yes, I just LOVE my Doc Martens!

Go for it Corrine!
I opted for the long soak in the hot bubble bath....which was pretty good too! ;-)

Love those socks! I like the colors and the pattern. Good for you for taking the time off when you need it. Don't add anything to your to-do list till you've taken three things off. What if you forget them when it comes time to add them? Well, if they are really important someone else will remember for you!

*Ulrike* said...

I have spring flowers blooming! I am ready to see the color, and we have been getting 60+ temps, but there is something about winter you just want to stay warm and cozy. I haven't done too much either, but I gotta get busy. I have company from Germany coming!
Take Care,
Ulrike

Oh awesome socks! I just saw the slippers Silke knit too. You rock! I wish I could make some but alas my knitting skills are on par with my cooking skills. I am destined to freeze and starve.
