DeMented, DeLightful Fun......!

Just in case anyone is wondering how much fun it is doing an online class with Michael deMeng???
Take a gander at this video and judge for yourself! As part of the class he makes little movie shorts that have to do with whatever the instructional videos may be about~~~it is a nonstop roller coaster ride! (although this is promoing his touring for in person classes this year)
If you can't do a class in person, check for online offerings at his blog:

Assemblog Of Michael deMeng

Or just follow for some of the most humorous reading and great assemblage art to browse.
And now I'm off on my own adventures......cue the theme for "Raiders Of The Lost Ark" please.....(dashing off with Fedora on and whip in hand)

I love his work! That video is quite the production - so, are you doing one of his classes? in person or online? Can't wait to see what create!

His work is stunning and so much fun and he seems like quite the character! No wonder you are enjoying his class so much!! I'm looking forward to some of the things you create as a result of his class!!! Love, Silke

Hi Karin,

I'm doing an on line class; I do not function well in a *real* class due to distractions and my *personal space issues*.....LOL!!!
But on one hand, the online class is great because you can replay the videos, etc over and over~~they will be up for two months, and at the speed of sloth that I'm moving, I might have something done by then! LOL!
He is amazing......

Hey Silke,

I can't wait either! LOL!!! I seem to be short on *quality art time*, but I'm pecking away at everything. Sooner or later. ;-D
And yes, he is funny. REALLY FUNNY. Makes it very easy to learn.
Once you stop laughing.

Went over to his blog the other day..what a hoot!! Loved his, "Fist Full of Brushes," a spoof on the Clint Eastwood spaghetti western!!

Wish I had the time to dedicate to his course right now, but am knee deep in stuff for the gallery...more about that later.

I used to have a fedora hat, well actually the ex did, but when he left, he forgot it, so I inherited it, along with the power tools!! Unfortunately, it met it's fate in the jaws of a friend's puppy...little sh-t didn't leave much!! She felt awful, but not awful enough to replace it....she must have assumed it was never mine to begin with, so no loss!!! b-t-h!!

Have a great day...another day with Miss Daisy...oey vey!!

Loves ya,
G

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Oh Georgina---wasn't that video hilarious??? OMG! I was about to choke from laughing!
I think I would have throttled the woman who did not replace the fedora...an eaten fedora; those are fighting words.
Good luck with Miss Daisy; I'm assuming it includes a trip to the Mart of Wal???

Holy moly that's a lot of drama! Quite entertaining though. I think it is wonderful that you are taking the time to play. Does this mean that the neverending wall hanging is complete? **kisskiss** Deb

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

YES!!!!

It's just that between being sick and really crummy weather, I have not been up to church to get a photo to post! (hoping for this weekend but the words *winter storm* are on the map...Lord help me....)
It is nice to play.
I almost had forgotten.....
Life is too short to be taken too seriously!

Oh you didn't tell me he is entertaining and Cute too! I can see why you are having so much fun with this class. sorry I missed your post yesterday but I just viewed it and am really enjoying being able to watch your process again. Your tags are great, not like any other tags I have ever seen before! Are you incorporating things you are learning in Michaels class into your sketchbook project? Hope your weather warmed up today.

Looks like fun! So glad you are enjoying the class! :)

Wow...I am SO out of the loop as I've not heard of him until you. TOTALLY looks like fun. I must check him out some more. :)

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Jan,

Yes, some of the colors ad the textural elements are from Michael's books, thought I am using them differently than we are in class.
It is fun to see how they work in other applications, especially something as simple as the tags!
And no---it is colder today and supposed to be frigid by Friday. I'm going to the basement and not emerging until Spring.....LOL!!!

Hey Cathy,

Yep, having a ball! This is the first time in a long time I have taken a class just for fun and where I wasn't really having to push myself fast.
It is NICE.
And funny! ;-D

Hey Sophia,

Check his blog....some of the videos. He has the most outlandish sense of humor!
I cannot imagine trying to take a class in person---I'd be laughing too hard and get nothing done...though the one in New Orleans, oh, I really wanted to go there!

I'm not moving too fast now Lolo, but the brain is in gear!
It is fun to create like a kid....just making mystery things. I think that is the appeal!

I have one of his books and it's one of my all-time favourites. I know I can never create anything near to his work, but his sense of humour is what draws me to the book more than anything. Didn't know he had a blog - must go visit, right this instant.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Trust me, his techniques are well explained and make smaller projects accessible.
But yes, I read the books and just LAUGH! DH will ask what I'm laughing at...one part was where he was calling a piece of his art *Poop*. I was roaring--been there, said that! LOL!!!

Turn my back & 5 more posts to catch up on!No we don't get that whole day to read blogs, do we? (my hips might just give out sitting too long!) Love your tags, will revisit M de M soon - love his rusty bits (!) but not the scary bits, I'm such a woos!

Just been struggling with uploading my sketchbook pics, the Brooklyn library ones, that is. I'm down as a strange name so not sure how 'they'll' find me!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Mary-Helen,

Yay! Permission to party on!!! ;-D
I wonder what you would make inspired by deMeng? Maybe in fiber, but none the less inspired by him?
I think you probably have all the necessary supplies....

Hey Emma,

I can't keep track of who is doing what sketch project, barely keeping up with my own, and yes--trying to keep up with the blogs is difficult! (plus I and a couple of friends have noticed blog posts not showing up in the dashboard till days later, or not at all....)
I will say there are a few of MdeM's pieces that could give me nightmares if I had them in the house.....LOL!!! The toys are the ones that freak me out....
Hope you had good luck getting your sketchbook photos in the right place.

He's talented and adorable. I am rolling pennies so I can take one of his classes sometime. He's very inspiring, isn't he? Go DeMeng! Go Anne! :) xox!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

But the on-line takes less rolls of pennies!!! (still, though, if you put them in a bag and gave them a swing, you could probably knock someone OUT....)
I could see you doing wonderful things after a class like this.

I'm wearing an apron and creating a big pot of SOUP for dinner! :-D
OH! Here comes your sun---I'll capture it in a jar and carry it with me!
