Long Overdue Thanks!!!! ♥♥♥

As I have mentioned of late, I am behind on everything and keeping up with things that should have been posted on my blog is at the top of the list. I am pretty sure I am three weeks behind.....at least.
So let me begin with this utterly amazing, meticulously detailed work of art I received from Ces.
When she read about how happy I was with a single acorn, she took it upon herself to do THIS! Nine exquisite acorns, each labeled on the back with the Latin Quercus name, done in amazing detail on lovely cream paper and signed, matted and ready to frame.
If you have enjoyed seeing her acorns on her blog, as she draws and posts them, then you cannot imagine having nine in front of you in real life. (that you now own!)
I have drawn for years, yet I still look at these and there is something completely magical in the style, the inkwork, the finished product. I want to stare and study and muse and just LOOK. And the other thing that is something I cannot absorb---how quickly she creates these.
We all often wonder, are we artists? What does the word mean? Do you have to make money from art to be *an artist*?
Let me say this; there are many people making money from art-like work that are far from being artists. They fake it well, but cower in the presence of real talent. Perhaps it is salesmanship that gets them by--I don't know.
And then there are people who are true artists and struggle with the idea or do not think they are. Because they do not show? Are not represented by a gallery? Or an agent?
Those things mean nothing. Art is what is in you, the raw talent that you draw out and put to paper, canvas, fiber or photo. Art is your soul, your vision, your very essence of being.
Ces........you are an artist. End of story.
And thank you from the bottom of my nutty little heart for this amazing piece that now allows me to keep my single nut in my studio, and THIS goes into the gallery hall.
I have the best of both worlds!
Truly.....I do!

Pax....

You are welcome, dearest Anne. It is my pleasure! I am so happy you like it. But wait, I see a mistake in one of the nuts...it is missing one ear...nope, just my imagination. Thank you for the generous praise. I still can't call myself an artist. am a sometimes-oil painter and a peripatetic squiggler because I actually drew some of these nuts while walking or waiting in the grocery line. I run out of time, what can I say?

I love oak. I saw my first oak tree (or realized it was an oak tree) when I was 24 years old and fell in love with it. It was in the Autumn and it was the Quercus rubra. You can imagine how I felt.

Tsup! Tsup!!!

P.S. I am drawing oak leaves now.

Anne - I have it all figured out. Ces never sleeps. AND I am pretty sure she has some magic acorns lying around (kind of like Tinkerbell) and she just picks one up and sprinkles it on her head, so she has the energy to go to work, make amazing art, take care of her family, cook, write, and on and on. She has acorn superpowers.

P.S. I agree with you about being an artist. I still feel funny when I sell things. I paint for myself first. If it resonates with others then I feel that's a bonus ;)

I would agree that Ces is a true artist! She is unbelievable ~ art just seems to flow out of her. We are blessed to know her and call her our friend.

Oh, Anne, what a magical gift of acorns -- from a true artist to a true artist!! Both of you are amazing artists! And you are so right about what makes art! I saw some art in galleries a few days ago that to me was atrocious, but still they called themselves artists.... These acorns are wonderful, exquisite art!! Much love and TSUP! Silke

Sorry this is a *mass response* girls---got in from a wonderful church service; we were formally added to the rolls of our new church home today! It was lovely!
I was able to share the web feed with a friend who is one the verge of becoming homeless; she has no transportation so church came to HER! That was a highlight of the day too.
It is wonderful to have friends, and sometimes it is a thing we take for granted. Even in our darkest days, we have this wonderful blogworld to share our joys and sorrows. Others do not.
I have said many times how lucky I am to have met the people have here, and again, I repeat that.
You are all a bunch of VERY GOOD NUTS!!!! I love you all!!!
TSUP! and many hugs.....

Actually, each acorn takes many hours to draw, but since I give up doing everything else, I am able to draw them in a shorter time.

What an exquisite set of drawings! You are so lucky to be the recipient of these works of art by such a talented artist! I don't care what Ces says, I call her an artist because she is.

When I was at my bro's this past week I kept looking at all the beautiful oak trees all around his house but I didn't find acorns around, just pieces of them or I'd have gathered you some.

Wonderful art, no doubt about it. I loved the way they are matted too. We had acorns last year for the first time. This year they are tiny little fellows. Don't know if they will fill out or not.

Nooooo! Did not mean to make you feel like a weevil. I intentionally draw these babies very slowly.

Here is a weevil:

I doubt if you fell like it does. HAHAHA! TSUP!

But Ces,

If you read the weevil comments on your page, guess who was right up front saying they loved it??? ;D
ME! ME!.....LOL!!
Actually, as I write this, with very little coffee in me and not contacts either, I cannot see a lot of difference between me and the bug......hahaha!
