My Shining Lights......

First off, I am so grossly overdue on new WELCOMES to the blog, I am quite mortified! Normally I have that up after one or two new faces join......and I do apologize with all my heart. It has been extremely hectic here, and yes, Blogger still is throwing me curveballs whenever it is most inconvenient!!! Please make yourselves at home....we sometimes lose our marbles, but eventually they are found through a lot of laughter!
As I have been too lax of late with my blog and visiting others, this post is dedicated to my blog friends. The ones who, without any cajoling, visit and comment even when I am in a blur of too much to do. The hearty souls who have been with me since day one and still continue on this wondrous and delightful ride called BLOGGING! The people who may wonder if I will ever post art again, but come back anyway for the brain dribblings in between. Those who know my taciturn moments and send me a silly e-mail to make me laugh until my sides split. Those who really know me, deeper than the words on this blog page because they can see past the words on the blog page. Those who respect my silence and know that there is something going on either in real life or in my studio that demands my full attention (which, by the way, seems to be getting shorter as I age!). Those who have respect for me as I have for them; that indeed, it is a two way street. Those who hold me up when I need it most, even if I don't really know I need it!
Friends are treasures more valuable than any precious metal, warmer than the crackle of a winter fireplace, more delightful than a summer's night with the moon illuminating the landscape and fireflies dancing in the velvet darkness.
Friends are my compass, my plumb line, my sounding board.
And above all, they are the bright lights in my life.
I am blessed.
And perhaps I do not say *thank you* enough, because everything else gets in the way......which is no excuse.
So for you all, thank you for being my true, honest friends here at El Milagro. And in e-mail. And on the phone. And through art we share. And letters. And Facebook. And just being there!
You are blessings.
Mille Grazie!

Pax....

Awwww, it is friends like you who make blogging fun!! I'm glad that I can finally leave a comment. Have tried several times, and either blogging isn't working right (I've tried on other blogs too) or it has something to do with FireFox. Guess I know what I'll be doing today!
Take Care!

What a beautiful loving post. Thank you for this. This post speaks for me too, for I have been blogging for a while. I have met so many incredible and beautiful people through blogging. Almost all of those who have visited me at one time or another have made me smile. Most of them find me for I seldom go and search. I am grateful that they leave comments to say hello, for it gives me the chance to return their visits. I do sometimes take the first initiative, especially, if I notice them visit everyday. Some of them have been very shy and were grateful that I said hello. There was only one time when I ignored a blogger, I found him offensive. It was an insecure and pathetic man who through his sychophantic folderol tried so much to appear knowledgeable but it only revealed his insecure and henpecked ways, pure risible. He provided entertainment for my blog visitors who wondered what I would do. My most effective tool was to make him a persona-non-grata and eventually a non-persona. I ignored him and he finally dropped off. Good riddance.

As for my pure true gems, they are the ones I plan to keep for the rest of their lives or mine. I call them sisterfriends, and what a group of extremely gifted, beautiful, wonderful women. There are men too, who make me smile and I appreciate them.

I think only people who blog will understand why close friendships happen. My friends (who never comment) have been wary and protective. Some of them actually follow the comments and bear witness on my journey through the blogs.

I just re-read an article "The More Social Sex - Why do women form more powerful friendships than men." I see myself and my coworkers-friends and friends who have been there with me quietly for 23 years since I moved to Texas. And now I see my sisterfriends.

I have so much to give thanks. The past year alone I was so prolific that even I could not believe the amount of work that came out of my non-studio (Hahah - I have no studio). Some of my sisterfriends inspire me so much that I drew those acorns while walking!!! Now that is inspiration! And you dearest Anne, feisty, scythe-wielding, honest, eloquent, courageous and brave woman, I love you, my sisterfriend. Thank you!!!

I love that photo! I'll bet your home is beautiful and filled with artsy touches.

I feel I haven't posted much art lately either and in some ways I feel like my blog lost it's way. I need to get it back on track and make it mostly about art.

I like coming here to read your brain dribblings. You make me laugh!

Have a super (cool) weekend ;)

I am glad you are my sisterfriend!
Otherwise, you would throw nuts at me.....hahahahaha!!!!! :D

Lolo, yes there are artsy touchs but there is also the severe touch of the Dust Bunnies!!!
This has been a hard summer for everyone to keep blogging---I think it is a combination of things, the least of which is the sweltering heatwave we had/are having.
I think come FAll we will all be more productive and back in some sort of swing......maybe! hopefully!

Anne - you are much-loved. :)) As is only right! :) As for Blogger...I feel like I am dealing with some awful genie every time I post (which is why I haven't been posting as much as I should have). I am trying to train myself to copy my comment before I hit enter (and do the word vert) because 90% of the time it screws up. So here goes nuttin! xox

Jan, I was so glad to just sit myself down and write this. It has been long overdue to all my sisterfriends out there in blogland, and of course in our e-mail land too!
I have felt like a dog chasing it's tail lately, and I really felt like I let everyone down not getting posts up, but dang. There are not enough hours in the days and too much to do in summer. You know that one!
So....yes, I miss the joking and candor and love we all share here, and I miss making fun of myself in my *great adventures*! LOL!!!

What a nice tribute (and way to elicit comments...) -- I was just going to say that I liked the lamp.

I haven't been online much lately and I miss my cyber-friends. It's easy to get busy and forget to check. I have a friend who's been my friend since she was in fourth grade (of course,I'm MUCH younger, tee hee) and lives far away, so email is the way we communicate. She says I'm "good for a while, then seem to fall off the face of the earth." But I always come back. That's what friends do. Glad you're back.

Hi Anne I just love to come and visit you always have something profound to add to my life. Your sense of humour, art, life and love. It is so nice to have been a part of your blog life this past year or more. Please take care of yourself. We all need to take time to refresh.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hi Karen,

yes, today I figured everything could go to rot and I would visit my friends for a change!
It is really sad that life can get so crazy that we don't even get time to e-mail or post on blog. (of course--crab-crab--Blogger has not HELPED that.....)
I miss the *voices* here daily! And not the ones in my head...they're all still there!
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Hi Bunny,

I too am glad that we were along for the ride together this past year---through all of it.
I hope that after a few more weeks, things will calm a bit and I can get back in the regular habit of blogging. There just have been so many things needing attention NOW.
You know that story!
I am glad you are here!

Well Annie dear, as a counselor said to me one time, " You have a hard time being average, don't you?" So, don't be so hard on yourself. We love you. I am so aggravated with blogger too. That is because so many people just love using it,I think it is overloaded. They need to update. Love your acorn.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Average???
What's that??? :D LOL..
You know, Blogger needed to work out all their BUGS and get more bandwidth before pushing down the new templates. I still have trouble with the pages that use those loading properly. In fact, some don't load at all.
Sometimes it is better to leave thigns alone until everything WORKS...hahaha! Then implement the new items!
Oh, that would be if women were in charge! ;)
Off for the average *mowing day*......pfffft!

Hi Anne.
You have written such a beautiful post on friendship. I think you pretty much summed up things that we all think and don't put into words often enough.
Blogging has opened up an entire new world. Friends, photos, tutorials on art and more, new art hanging on our walls, so much joy, some heartache, education on many, many things, shoulders to lean on, counseling, and much laughter. I really could not imagine life without blogging and blog friendships.
We started blogging right about the same time and I have enjoyed every single post and email of yours. As busy as your life is, you always make time for your friends - even if it's only a quick little "hang in there". That quick little "hang in there" could be what makes all the difference for someone.
You are loved by many and I am proud to call you my friend.
♥♥♥ audrey

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Thank you Audrey.
I put this post up for everyone else, and you sum it up better than I can!
