Men Want Me; Thistles Fear Me.......(DEPENDS ALERT!!!!)

DISCLAIMER: You will laugh till you pee yourself, so go get the Depends NOW.
I am not responsible for short circuited computers or other electrical incidents.
Thank You, The Management.

.....or maybe that's the other way around. Probably. I think the pics speak for themselves, unfortunately. And the other thing I noticed was how delightfully *plump* I have become, such that I cannot suck it in and hide it from the camera.
Well, ya gotta have fun...yes???

I think I am glad DH was not here for the photo shoot......I look waaaaaay too happy with my scythe!

The Grim Reaper's got nothin' on me.....no way baby. I enjoy this work!  >:-)

One good sling with some muscle behind it and they start to fall. Yes, I am selectively getting the thistles and leaving the other grasses and goldenrod.

Yo! Mama! Pull that baby!!! Ah-hahahahahahaha!!!!! The only thing added for effect was the chaps borrowed from a friend, and that's obvious since they were sliding down me arse with each swing!
Truthfully, this is how I manage the thistles and it is a good workout and I love the sound of the swing of the scythe. It was my grandfathers and I have sharpened and resharpened until some day, there will be no blade left. It doesn't use gas, it doesn't put out fumes....it's just you and Mother Nature and the work.
It is a humbling reminder of how things used to be done and it keeps me centered when I start whining about electronic things that don't work. (frequently)
I have had men in trucks almost run off the road when I've been clearing the edges of the two south acres. I pretty sure it's the scythe.....nothing more. *Scythe-Envy*.....LOL!!!

And how was YOUR day yesterday????

Pax.

Hey MArilyn,

Around here, they probably are just trying to figure out what the scythe is since it doesn't have an engine that puts out smoke and makes noise!!! LOL!!!! (no joke....)

Princess of Darkness....heehee!

Anne - You are AWESOME. Fear her, little thistles!! Quake when you hear her boots stomping toward you! You are my new heroine. You are like a superhero! I will call you Scythe Woman! (I think you do need to add a whip and some chains, per Marilyn's suggestion :) And trust me, the men are driving off the road because A. You are AWESOME. B. You are doing work, and this is a strange concept to them. Like all new ideas, it distracts them, and they can't drive. C. You are gorgeous!

Look out world, Scythe Woman is coming to a thistle-ridden field near you! WOOT!!!! I love you, SW!!! xoxox! Pam

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Oh Pam!!!
ROFLMAO!!!!! I am thinking it is (B) and (C) that drives them off the road.....ah-hahahahaha!!!!
I love this:

"Scythe Woman is coming to a thistle-ridden field near you!"

SW still has a lot of thistles that need some, ummmmm, smacking about. I have about 200 feet of yard back there that has to be worked by hand, so in between ART, *SW* will be out there wreacking havoc!!!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

I agree you are "Scythe Woman" coming to a thistle field near you. Well I would love to have you over in that outfit. Might inspire someone unnamed to hit the weeds. You are awesome girl.

Wow! Leather woman -- love the look, very, um, leathery --form following function -- or something like that. We have thistles coming up through the lawn and I would invite you and your scythe, but I'm afraid you'd cause the men in the neighborhood to have heart attacks. Of course, then they would stop talking about me...Hmmm, are you available for parties? Bar mitzvahs?

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Karen....for a FEE!
I'll get them all away from tormenting you...... >:}

I LOVE THIS POST!!!

You go girl!!!

Every woman should wield a scythe. I wish I had one but then I will don a patadyong and look like a native.

I love knives, bolos, machetes. Now I just need a scythe.

I love your Sturgis outfit. Sorry for messing up your comment section.

Just look at all vegetation. Very lush. Very beautiful, so is the lady!!!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Oh Ces, you didn't mess anything up--I just cleared the thing and here we are.
Sometimes I get all discombobbled and forget to even push the POST button! :D (and wonder where things went....)
I can see you with a scythe....I think you would have too much fun, no matter what the attire!
Maybe we should have a *ladies scythe night*.....bring our hubbies and let them be mortified as we are bad! HA! (or just look bad...)
But the thistles are cut safely, and I get and art day now! YAY!

Thanks for the disclaimer because I just about "made water" in my chonies!! LOL Have to say, I love the chaps...they add an extra flavour to the whole look. As for the work and nature and all that stuff, well, I'll just enjoy looking out my window and enjoy the lovely Blue Shade weeds coming up...friggin' gardeners haven't been by in over a week and my hubby's in the biz too...sheesh!!

Anyway, you look maavalous, darlinc!! Ever thought of wearing those chaps around DH??? NOw there's a pick-me-up...something out of an Anis Nin short story!!! hahahahahahaha!!!

Love ya and your scythe!!

You look amazing and you ARE amazing!! I'm so glad I found you thru Elena!!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hi Robin!

Elena would be busting a gut with the chaps falling off! My friend that brought them up is slimmer than me and I told him "Those will NEVER go arolound my fat thighs!!!"
But we got some good laughs and funny pics for the blog!
Thanks for coming by!!!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Ah Georgina----HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
See, I was nice and gave you fair warning.... ;)
I just got in from finishing the back of the lot--will have to get the two south acre edges later. Too wet and I almost fell in a big woodpile, where DH would never have found me! HA!

YOU ARE A GODDESS IN CHAPS!! THISTLE SLAYER!! Indeed, thistles fear you, men want you! You are very brave. I'll bet right now there are men printing these photos out, pinning them to their walls to bow before them in worshipful awe! Hummm, I wonder if my printer will work??? If I post these photos in my thistle field, maybe the thistles will just wither and die in awesome fear.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Jan...
ROFLMAO!!!!
I think the men would run and the thistles would laugh!!!
I really do enjoy the exercise, but I have had to watch what parts of the back lot I go into since the hip.
Hopefully this evening I can pick out the ragweeds and some of the huge Canadian Thistles down on the south acre...they are like cutting trees.
That should provide sufficient entertainment for one day! :D

OMGosh you look FABULOUS!!! Seriously, what is hotter than a blonde wheeling a scythe!!! Chaps are a good look on you. I never had chaps, but I do still have my spurs. You ARE a superhero. **clapping of many hands** Deb

Deborah said...

Ooooo and I just noticed the GLOVES! Nice touch. AND the matching skelly on the hat. You really went all out for your date with the thistles. **kisskiss** Deb

Martha Bright said...

Yo Anne!

That is awesome. We have a scythe too, but I BROKE it! Watch out! Now I use a fire-breathing dragon slayer for thistles and burdocks. They die and then I save the dudes in distress (my horses).

You go girl!!!!

Terra said...

I think you may be wrong about the men driving by, it is you and your protective gear that causes their interest, not merely the scythe. It sounds like you have a fan club of admirers.
That is a very difficult way to control weeds, kudos to you.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Terra,

With the lay of the land, there really isn't any other way. I'd kill myself with a bush-hog, plus I like leaving things for the rabbits to hide in.
And the south acre is full of trees, saplings, etc and hilly.
It's good exercise!!!

Thanks for the smiles :P

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Serena,

I love that top. I wear it when I really don't want people bothering me as I make mad dashes into town.
They kind of scatter.....LOL!!! :D

Christine's Beadworks said...

OMG Anne, fabulous pictures, I don't know if I'd be able to get leather chaps off once they were on, lol. And a scyth, I'd probably chop of my ankles. Love it, mother nature, look out.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Marie, I can get up to 200 pounds and since I am tall and a big frame, it doesn't show to other people, but I feel miserable. Even at 180, I am miserable---it is nt a vanity thing; it is my joints being used to 155 at the most and with the O.A. the extra weight is very difficult.
Sometimes height is a disadvantage....

Love--A.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Ah Leslie,

The Scottish part of me loves them too, but when they invade, there is no getting rid of them.
They used to have laws in the state about getting the out of fields, they are so invasive here.
And nothing kills them....it's just quantity management.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Christine,

It wasn't the getting them OFF, it was trying to get them zipped around my well padded thighs! LOL!
I did not think it was going to happen!
Though I have to admit, when I was wading in the really deep stuff, I wish I would have still had them on. I have thistle sticks all over my legs and hips....the stuff is sooo deep.
