Glorious Blossoms......

Few words are necessary to describe the lushness of this tree......photos taken before the storms passed through. Each year I find the urge to record it's blossoms stronger and stronger; I have raised and pruned and tended this beauty since it was a tiny sprig in a plastic pot, awaiting a home.
Whether on the ground shooting up or hanging out the upstairs windows to capture an interesting angle, I find them all irresistable.........she has withstood winds and hail and ice storms.......I often wonder if I will have her the next year.
I am off for a bit of studio work, and may be off blog a few days, so I posted several photos that you may enjoy!

what soft beauty, anne. do you bring some branches or petals in the house? sometimes i let them float in water in a bowl and it always feels spiritual to me, like it is part of a monastery.

i am already looking forward to hearing about and seeing and sharing your love of flowers and their accessories. here's wishing you a great weekend. i think a special holiday may be near. :)

Hi kj,

I have tried cutting these to bring in and they simply do not last. I enjoy them outside, the perfume heavy in the air on warm days.
At a previous house, I had a magnolia I could cut branches and bring in, but this one is tempremental (like the owner!).
I'm off to a weekend of yardwork andfinishing tidying in the studio, and then perhaps FINALLY get past gessoing and find ART! HAHAHA!

What a beautiful tree, Anne. Have you noticed that the flowering trees are SO full ~ just loaded with blossoms this year? It must be our gift for putting up with such a brutal winter.
Have a good weekend, sisterfriend Anne!

Hi Audrey,

Yes, even after the weather here, things still seem loaded with blossoms. I was just out mowing (short break to get my joints back in place! LOL!!) and my wisteria and flowering crabapple are covered with buds. I am hoping we just have cool nights; they last longer that way!
It certainly is a reward for the longest of winters!
HAve a great weekend!!!♥

Stunning. Isn't it nice that spring has sprung. Our mags. got a little nip of frost and no longer look as wonderful as yours.

Get outside and enjoy the weekend...I am...

Beauty and good scents, what more could one ask for in a woman, I mean a tree? Except maybe for it to last a bit longer.

Hey Kate,

I've been enjoying the yard via the John Deere!!! My husband still doesn't understand my attachmnet to that tractor......LOL!!!
Everything is getting green sooo fast....

Hey Jan,

Yes, I wish they had hybridized a long blooming magnolia. Except, if roses are indicators, the scent would be diminished or lost.
What is funny is sometimes later in the summer, there will be a few scattered blossoms up atop the highest branches; new growth? I don't know.

Gorgeous...if only they lasted longer.

I need some of that epoxy they used to seal wedding flowers in---remember that stuff? When they put bouquets into whatever it was? I'm thinking it was a fad in the late 70's, early '80's.
Those years are sort of a blur....HAHAHA!!

The only thing better than these natural beauties is a hot, sexy man with rippling muscles and sweat dripping from his face and his sexy hairy chest after cleaning his garage or doing other types of manual labor! Or he can take the easy route by bring me plain sugar doughnuts for breakfast.

Okay, what was the post about?

HAHAHAHAHA!

anne, first: i think if you just let the flowers float in a bowl of water, they will stay for a few days and look spectacular.

second: the deed is done. the day is now official.

Hey Anna,

Thanks! Mostly it is luck and a good camera that does the hard work for me. Dad taught me *real* photography when I was young....no light meters now or deciding f-stops.
That technology in my Fujifilm is great! :)

Oh how beautiful! The climate right where I live is a bit too cold for them to survive the winter. Toronto has a few in bloom right now (saw them yesterday) but I don't dare march up to someones house and try to take pictures. Most people frown on that!
Wouldn't it be nice if computers has smell-o-vision?

Hey girls!

Yes, I wish the blogs had *smell-o-vision*!!! Wouldn't that perk up all our posts of Spring flowers?
I am off for the weekend; being a slug and just trying to get rested. Hoping for some more pics of what is coming back to life in the yard.
Have a good one!!!

Hi Anne! Yesterday was spent mowing the 6 acre lawn on the tractor and sneezing. LOL! Love your tree. I took some of my weeping cherry and will post them soon. We have a beautiful HUGE magnolia on the next street over, and every Spring I am just dazzled as I drive by it. :) xoxoxo Pam

Nature can make even one of my least favorite colors beautiful! Thank you for sharing such gorgeous blossoms with us, Anne! The last shot of just a couple petals on the ground is striking.

Hey Pam,

OMG....6 acres! I can barely wheeze thru ONE!!! (and I am still hacking and wheezing today.....geez!)
Can't wait for your pix--what a beautiful time of year, if but for that pesky pollen!!!

Hi Di,

I always like to try and get a few of the fallen petals.....the things popping up in the garden look so GREEN next to the magnolia petals.....it's sort of fun.
At some point, the ground of the whole garden is covered with them.
