Twice Blessed....

From Ces, in honor of Renee's Birthday, March 28th
Read the history of this award by clicking HERE

After several days of vacillating between work and being in a funk from the rain, I get one of Ces's comments that brings me to my feet...she always does! For the very few people in blogland that have not had the delight of visiting Ces and Her Dishes, you really need to pay a visit. Besides being a Mental Ninja, as opposed to my just being mental on any given day, she is a phenomenal artist and I firmly believe that she draws in her sleep.
No exaggeration......go look at the prolific amount of work the dear little Oak Nymph cranks out. It shames me.....well.....about as much as anything can shame me at my age! LOL!!!
At any rate, I'm wandering. Sorry.
I received this yesterday, Renee's birthday, and found myself trolling blogs with wonderful posts about Renee's life, especially one written by her sister at Circling My Head which Renee had kept up until her final passage into the light.
I felt completely inadequate to comment yesterday. Today, I can only say thank you with a humble heart. This is the second time I have received this award; the first time being from my dear friend Tristan at Enchanted Revelry. To be included in this circle of incredible people in blogdom, with others who have accomplished more than I have, to have the opportunity to meet all the wonderful souls I have here, to feel I have contributed to any creative sort, spurring them on in any way.....that leaves me speechless.
I had recently read an article by a 20-something, saying that bloggers are not real friends, just people who post, blah blah blah, and I thought WHAT???? What planet are YOU from??? The corner of Blogland where I live is full of loving, funny, caring, creative spirits, with all different views and people you can count on to send you an e-mail when you've been off blog to find out how in the HELL you are! (or have you been having too much fun.....) We live in a totally different section of this cyberworld, and boy oh boy, am I glad!
And that circles back to the award.......our circle, as it ever spirals out from that very first acorn, continues to give and give and give. Even when the mother tree is gone.....a new acorn finds coddling warm soil, is fed, and sprouts.
I am a sprout.
I am proud.
I stand with some taller than me, but that is fine......we all support each other in this forest of life. No tree falls that we do not hear and mourn, but also know it is going back to it's real home.
Thank you Ces for bestowing this award to me again, on a meaningful day, and damn it, you almost made me cry too.
So look out, I'll be coming to leave a comment.......
To all my blogfriends, and those who read that I do not know, I bid you.....

Pax.

That was a most heartfelt and eloquent post! And so well said - it is true about this blogging community - rarely have I known a group of people more supportive and accepting of each other. It has changed me for the better! As has knowing you!! Love, Silke

Thanks Silke!

I just found it interesting that someone would think bloggers have no real ties.....sad too.
It certainly has made my life richer and even on the days I don't post, or an struggling to think of something, I don't want to miss the contact with the people!

Really thoughtful and inspiring post, Anne.

...what do 20-year-olds know anyway? Don't you remember when we were twenty? We thought we knew everything and actually knew nothing?!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

OMG Tristan! Obviously we knew nothing! Think of the clothes we wore!!!!
That should have been proof enough....
Note to self: burn all early 20's pics before getting to old to know who they are....LOL!!!!

Hey, when I was 20 something I thought I knew everything & had a quick answer to everything only to find that as I grow older I am in awe of everything & know nothing!!
Love you Sister!!

Absolutely Marilyn!!!
I think the wonder of aging, if you open yourself to it, is seeing how much you still have to grow and appreciating every small bit of life around.
I'm not even sure how DH married me at 25.....the poor man.... ;)

Great post! And I didn't know Renee much but am amazed by the posts I've read and her intense spirit that lives on. What a beautiful soul. So apparently the 20-something hasn't met bloggers like Renee and this wonderful group. Or perhaps we just fell into the 'right' blogging network. The 'right clique'. Ha! Either way, without the blogging network I would never have the true friends I've met & those yet to be discovered. And thanks for an awesome comment to my scary post.

Beautifully said, Anne. There are so many lovely people here, and I have made real friends. Real, as in they exist in time and space and eat cereal and have emotions. LOL! No offense to the 20-somethings of the world, but they don't have enough life cred to be spouting off about something like this. What I think is so wonderful about blogging is that you get to know someone from their written words. You have time to savor them, reread them, think about them, and then to respond. I think the entire enterprise brings together people that have similar interests. I mean, would you continue to write letters to someone you had nothing in common with? I wouldn't. I am too lazy! LOL! So glad to have met you here, and congratulations on the award. xoxo Pam

Hi Elena,

sometimes, I believe we are guided to the right people when we have hearts that are filled with good intent. It's a most fortune thing....like being part of something bigger that you can't quite put your finger on and define!

Hey PAm,

I'm laughing.....trying to think of the last time I wrote a *real* letter, even to my own kin! Thank God for e-mail!
I guess, being in the bubble I live in and not having kids, I forget easily what 20+ was like.
Heck, I can't remember the 30's but I do know my 40's were pretty good!
Maybe as we age, we aren't afraid to say what me need to, could care less what others think, and thus find ourselves connecting with folks of the same ilk. Which makes it easier to get to know people you can connect with.
And yes, we are *real* friends....believe me, I have the MASS required to be considered real! LOL!!! Quite REAL!
Many hugs Skelly Grrrrrrll!!

Congratulations, Anne. This award carries a special honor with it. How blessed we are to have such caring, real friends in this corner of Blogland.
Your words ring true and are, as always, written so well.
Blessings to you during this Holy Week!

Hi Audrey,

Sort of appropriate that it is Holy Week, thinking of the blessings of friends and people who support us.
I cannot imagine life without this!!!

Oh dear Anne congratulations on your award. You are so deserving of it. You surly personify the meaning of it. I have some doubters in my family about bloggers too, but I figure they are the losers. Facebook, which some of my kiddos and grands are on has no creative aspect what so ever. This is a wonderful group. BTW is Marilyn your real sister? I'll be back to check.
Easter blessings.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey QMM,

No, we call each other sisterfriends; the ultimate compliment to people you know and trust and love like a sister. (and quite possibly, get along with better! LOL!!!)
FB is a good place to contact people, school mates, etc....blogging is totally different, I think because it requires commitment. And much more personal and personality driven.
We are lucky with our group.....
Have a wonderful week!

Oh, but Anne, no one does mental like you do. No connection in blog land! Rubbish! From the mouth of the original Oak,when I first found Renee and fell madly in love with her, I told her that she was taking a burden off my hubby, for I have such a need to connect on a deep level at times it's too much for him, and Renee said, oh, you and I are SO connected. And that is how Renee was, SO connected to every person who came into her life. It was her big work. To love and validate all of us. We were all her favorite. Renee took the words of Jesus, Love as I have loved you, and put them into action. Lesson learned. Oh, Anne, it's a Happy Day! **blows kisses** Deb

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Deb,

I know my blogfriends take a great weight off my hubby---and the thing is, we understand because we have all been down similar roads.
We just have to keep planting those acorns, more, more, more....
And yes, *mental* is my specialty, especially at the moment! ;)

Congratulations on the award. Well deserved as are all your followers, they all deserve an award. A kinder, funnier group of people I do not know. Well, except for my S&B group.

Storms here, power out for a couple hours this morning. In case I get real quiet.

I really wish I had known Renee. She had to be really special from the love I feel for her, both from your post and from the comments about her. It seems to me that she has to be making heaven just a little bit brighter.
As for blogging friendships, I firmly believe that we are led to the places we should be. I have found so many kindred souls though blogging and many of them 'get me' even better than my in-flesh friends. I think that's because we have to look beyond the barriers we put up when we're dealing with the written word only.
