A Very Quick Check In

Yesterday I thought I would have time to get a post in the can for this morning.....HA! Life always has a way of changing your mind. I ended up chasing and spraying ants in the kitchen.....OH! The glorious life of an artist! LOL!
Actually, yesterday was spent mostly getting all the painting supplies back to the wet studio since I can now manage the stairs, and a finishing coat on a couple of pieces, which I sincerely hope I can get photographed for tomorrow.
There is a great story about how they came into being; it is one worth telling and considering in the creative process.
So I am off now to put a few final touches on them so they are dry by afternoon and can get good photos, then start cleaning the sewing cutting tales that have been used for art.
I hate shifting things, but I hate being without my *art-mess* even more.
How about you? Isn't that creative mess what motivates you sometimes? The colors, the pieces, things side by side much by accident that make the grey matter click? Thinking beyond what you are doing at the moment, to the next project, idea, combination of techniques to try?
Isn't that what we live for? Yes?

Pax.

Well....more or less Linda! I am so far behind I don't know where to start, so I'm just starting with the biggies of getting things somewhat back to abnormal.....
And I do mean: ABNORMAL!

Anne - I spent three days 'organizing' my work area, and it took about 20 minutes for it to look like a cyclone hit it. LOL! And I have about 10 UFOs staring at me, and I SWORE I would not start another project until I finished them. I started one last night - hahahaha! Ah, we are a bunch, aren't we? xoxoxox

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Pam....LOL!!!! It will be the same here...a day or two to clean up, 15 minutes for complete nuclear annihilation of the workspace!
At least we admit our shortfalls! :D
Have a good one and enjoy the new project!

Hi Maggie,

Welcome!
Sometimes I really get to post ART as opposed to whining about why I'm not making it....LOL!!!!
Hope you find something to amuse yourself here!

I'm pretty good about UFO's. Usually, if I stop working on a piece, it's because it's not going to work out, and I just toss it.

Plus I hate mess LOL.

Glad you're up and down the stairs - don't over do!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Tristan,

I have to watch UFO's too.....right now have one I know won't work but it's still laying on the table, with me hoping.
At least now I can try and be back to doing two things at once...LOL!!!
Or accomplishing nothing at all! ;)

My whole house is a chaos of stuff to do projects with, projects in process and project that are done and need a place to live and ALL the attendant stuff that goes with them, sigh.

Glad you are getting back to work tho...

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Leslie....well, you know, that laundry basket full of yarn I have upstairs, and the BOX of yarn, and then the other BAGS of yarn....heehee!
It drives me nuts a lot; I guess I like limited creative mess, but I enjoy seeing the odd things together--it always leads to something interesting! :)

OOoooo now I'm nervous knowing you are going up and down stairs! Please wear a helmut! Bad ants! Almost ever spring we wake to find them in the built in microwave! ICK! And what the heck?

Deb....LOL!!!
Psst....secret, I've been doing stairs for quite a while, it's just that I can walk them more *normal* now. That was part of the therapy---they had me doing them before I left the hospital!
I'll be like Milo, in a *bug body-cast*! LOL!!!
As for the ants....it's usually Spring, but it has been so wet, and SOMEONE (to whom I am married) hasn't helped with the cleaning...ahem!
So I'm stompin' ants! HAHAHAHAHA!!!

I have been working on my "room" for quite a while. The bad or rather good thing is that I keep finding more projects to finish!!
Once it is all organize then I'll feel a sigh of relief, not that I'm real organized. Well, let's put it this way, at least I know what will be in each stack!!
Be careful on those stairs!
Take Care!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

LOL!!!
Yes, I am a *stack-a-holic* too, and sometimes they fall over! I'm trying this time to actually find places for things to be put away, and then be able to find them.
That will last about a week.....
Hope your's lasts longer Ulrike!!!

There have been numerous times I have found serendipity in the placement of stuff on top of stuff. That looks good right there! I hope the stuff you put on the ants will send them packing, never to return.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Well Jan, mostly it was my size 10 foot!!!
I have spray, but I need to buy some powdered boric acid, to line the edges of the walls with.....(insert skull and crossbones here...LOL!!!!)
It's just been a busy and wierd day, to say the least!

I love the bits and pieces on my studio floor...colored threads....cottons in a variety of colors ...and oh the sparkling beads in my cabin floor reflecting the cherished sunshine coming in my windows. I am waiting for a bit warmer weather to return to my wet studio/garage to work on several assemblages and paintings. Soon we will be able to move outdoors to work in the shade of my old trees. Hey Mary Helen,

I think I am almost ready for some more moderate weather. The dampness here is doing strange things to my varnishing mediums....no matter how much heat and dehumidification!
I have the yards of heavy silk on the tables now trying to figure how on earth I will manage it to cut banners.
These are the last ones for a goodly while! Enough!!! :)
