Tangled Sunrise

Life is a tangled sunrise.
Sometimes we see our morning star so clearly,
sometimes we gaze at nothing but obstructions;
we cannot push past our own tenuous moments
nor understand the myriad reasons
that we should.
Frail creatures.
Vain and foolish.
In watching our suns rise and burn,
we waste time in their glory hours;
when our sky is brilliant,
we, thinking it forever.
Basking in the golden languid glow
and letting fleeting precious moments
rush past our grasp,
in search of more insipid things
that shine bright quickly, but are hollow in the end.
How foolish, really,
that we are so blinded by the brilliant light
to not behold the obvious:
Our sunrise
and our sunset,
are both the same and most uniquely beautiful.
We come forth  from the dark,
we have our time of light,
we warm all those about us
until suddenly it is twilight......
time to return softly, quietly,
into the dusky ether.
And if beloved
--especially by many--
we've left a trail of
blazing stardust
upon the ground we trod.
 A glimmering path
that others may walk
and ne'er forget
the soul who burned
so brightly
and loved so
freely and so deeply.

Pax....

Hey Girl, quite a composition. Yes we miss so much in life spending time with the unimportant and unfulfilling things in live. ...we've left a trail of blazing stardust upon the ground we trod.
Brilliant.

Thanks QMM......

A rather sad day; I think the frailty of life sort of hit me and poured out.
Sometimes I pour good, sometimes I miss. ;)

Oh, Anne - this is so beautiful. I am crying again! We have to remember to live in the moment, enjoy the ones that make our lives rich. Thank God for friends. xoxox Pam

Pam, when I read your post about Renee, I was crying enough I had tears falling down my cheeks and onto my pants.
I did not know her, but her influence was felt throughout our circle.
When I read what her daughter posted today, I wept, because it was much like my mother, and I know what she feels.
How we are so connected.......

Oh Anne, this is so beautiful on such a Holy Day. How much I have come to love you, my friend. There is not one sad thing about Renee's life except that it is too short for US. Never stop writing, Anne. Beautiful, beautiful mind, beautiful soul. It honors me to call you Friend. **kisskiss** Deb

Oh Anne this is such a beautiful poem that reveals your love for Renee...the sunrise in our lives are always tangled when we engage our hearts. You "pour" real good sister! You should reveal your heart like this more often... you have the courageous heart of a poet. Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

Beautiful, Anne. I don't know why I didn't see this post earlier, it is nearly Sunday and it only now showed up for me.
Like my favorite poet, Greg Brown says, "Life is a thump ripe melon, so sweet and such a mess." Not quite as lovely as your words, but a similar feeling.

What a beautiful photo and post, Anne. It's so easy to get caught up in the unimportant things of life and before we know it, the IMPORTANT things have already passed us by. I'm kind of glad my life has been "slow", as it has allowed me to do alot of thinking about my life...as hard as that is to do at times right now.

Much love,
xo

Hey Vanessa,

Glad you could get a moment of peace and enjoyment in what I know is a busy schedule! I always hope the blog can provide something someone needs.....
Thank you!

Hey Leslie,

Thanks---my dear knitting girlie-girl friend!
And I managed four rows without the frog visiting--I was exceptionally tired last night!

Hi Deb,

Yes, the shortness of life---the unfair shortness. Only that is sad. As we get older, we realize how wonderful each moment is and live full, and to hell with anyone who criticizes.
I did not know what would be a fitting tribute, so the poem just tumbled out......
I would hope it would have been something she would appreciate....
Thank you my sisterfriend!

Hi Mary Helen,

I seem to have a pouring switch, which does not stay in the *ON* position. I love writing when it works.
This one took several revisions before it had the feel I wanted.
It is good...... :)
Take care my friend!

Yes JAn, exactly the same feelings. It is the mess part that is always hard to deal with!
I have had issues too with posts not showing up in my dashboard---thought it was just me.
Don't know what's up with that.
Take care my driend!!!

Hi Sophia,

Yes, I understand completely about being able to reevaluate the important thigns after a year of being slowed down.
You finally learn what is important and what is not. In my case, it had to take a calamity to stop me.....and eventhough it has been painful, I have learned a LOT.
And the slower pace is much better. Do take care of yourself....(((HUGS!!!)))

This is beautiful, Anne. Creativity in art and writing seems to be in your blood. You do both so well.
As I get older, I am appreciating many things I took for granted along the way.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Thanks Audrey.....this was a tough one to write though.
I do think there is a point where we look around and realize what is of value and what is a waste of time, and hopefully we see that at an age where we can truly enjoy the life we are given.

Dear Anne, this is so beautiful!! There seems to be sadness around the blog world as, but what I notice most of all is the love, and - as you put it - the trail of blazing stardust. I notice the connection between us all, a connection that cannot be broken. Most of all, I feel the love... Your words are powerful!! Much love, Silke

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Thank you Silke......
Yes, there is a connection beyond computers and ISPs and the electronics that make it all happen.
There is a real human voice and touch and most of all, the heart and love.

What a poetic soul you have, Anne! I can sense that you pulled deep for this one...and it tugs at the emotions. VERY well said! Thank you for sharing something so personal here...things we ourselves feel but sometimes fear to say.

All the best to you,
Today and every day

Oh Anne! You speak of a deep and introspective life. Sadly it seems as we look around we find true what you are lamenting. Isn't it funny that here we are unseen, feeling connected in a world that is actually disconnected yet the short bursts of bonds that happen seem to last longer and stay deeper that those we see right in front of us. Someone is always rushing to the next appointment. here we venture when we have the time.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Ces, that is what is so wonderful about the connection through our blogs.....we can meet at any time, we laugh, we cry, we act like foolish children.
Sometimes the moments we savor most are the ones that no price can be put on, here, enjoying each others friendships.

Powerful is the only word I can use to describe what you have written Anne. Oddly enough, my 'plan' for this year is to appreciate my friends (both the in-flesh and my internet ones) more. I have resolved to comment more...say more...connect more. Your poem is one I will re-read often to remind me of my plan, now and in the future. Thank you.

Hey Honey Bunny, I'm with you. I have been trying to get back to the basics with illustration and doing things by hand. The computer is wonderful and all, but there is something about good old fashion hand to paper illustrations that will never go out of style. I just love it. I agree with you about the messy hands and fingers. It's just a beautiful thing . Have a most wonderfully blessed and creative weekend Sweetie! Hugs
