Lovely New Header!!!

If you had not noticed by now, there is an exceptionally wonderful new blog header gracing this space; a prize I won from Susie Jefferson at 1st FLOOR FLAT  (do give her a visit...loads of fun bloggy items and she has much knowledge to share for the HTML challenged....ahem.....like this blog mistress!)
We had started this back in December when she had her blog giveaway, then I had to go to hospital, Susie had major computer problems, then she had hospital issues and all the time, we would pop in and out of each other's e-mail boxes with updates. Questions, sharing photos, getting a feel for what this was to be, but mainly it was always ended with a *take your time---the blog will be here*. Healing is more important.
So after a grueling day on the computer catching up from a complete day OFF, I hear the e-mail *happy-ping-sound* and it's from Susie, and there it was.....in all it's glory.......and I almost had a fit of tears and the usual, OMG! OMG! OMG! while squirming in the desk chair!
I could not believe that what I knew and loved and felt for New Orleans, that inspires my art, was so simply and elegantly portrayed in this header! (of course, then I panicked and wrote back saying "What do I DO now???"......the brain was off......)
I cannot thank her enough. This is truly the essence of the heart of the blog, and this artist.
And it looks sooooo fine, I am going to have to clean up my sidebars, so that the eye is repeatedly drawn to the top.
I need to learn HTML...I know that.
And y'all know I am a lazy Luddite.     *sigh*
So just quit reading and scroll to the top and feast your eyes, then promptly visit Susie and see what magic she does.

Pax.

P.S. For the record, I think I would like this on a T-shirt.......  :-D

Wow, it's wonderful. She did a great design. When you learn HTML, you'll have to teach me. :)

Oooh la la, it is terrific! What a great prize to win. I too need to learn some more html, but alas, the art making gets in the way.

very nice! and what good timing, with the saints n all :) i've been thinking i need to learn html for at least 10 years. so i'm paying someone to do my website now.btw, would have loved to try that gumbo! that happened the first time i made jambalaya recently- thought the cayenne was maybe a little old, so i doubled up. not necessary!

Html is a four letter word and I intend to stay far, far away from it. I can do enough to mess up my computer now, without adding that to the equation! Your blog header looks smashing and is well worth the wait.

Oh, so cool, Anne! It is you, isn't it? :) And I need to learn HTML, too, but I have been saying that for 6 years now. Ain't happened yet! YAY for Susie and her artistic eye! xox

Oh Julie, see, that is my problem. What little I know has been from studying simple things on Susie's blog---which LOOKS PRETTY---s it's not like I am studying? (wink!)
Art always, always gets in my way!

Hey Marianne,

Yes, wasn't it perfect timing???
Cayenne has to get VERY OLD before it loses it's heat; it will lose good flavor and be more bitter. Best cayenne on the market is Zatarains. Flavor is totally different but the heat factor....whoo-eee!!! But it's good stuff in moderation......LOL!!!

MA---Oh you always make me laugh!!! Yeah, but I set up a practise blog that is closed---that way I screw things up over THERE first, then learn it enough to do it here! (sometimes) And it is a four letter word, but I've had a lot of those around my house of late!!! LOL!!!
I am sooo happy with the header---big, big smiles!

Hey Pam,

I think, basically, we would rather make art! Not that the header is NOT art, because it IS!!! I just think some people are blesses with the ability to do it on the computer and know code, etc, and then there is me running around with canvas and glue and paint! :)
Which is okay---we all do what we do very well!

Hey Leslie,

THANKS!!! The music, well, I'm too lazy to even add to that! LOL!!!!! So we're all stuck till I track down some more jazz tunes for the player....real ones, good ones, which is not easy.

Hi MAry Helen,

Believe me, I am too! The best thing I did was start this blog, and all the wonderful creative people I've met, and how many, even though they sell their work, share knowledge on here.
We are fortunate indeed!!!

Hi Vicki!!!

I had to put it up last evening, immediately---well, after I could think again! LOL!
And of course, I had to have Jean LaFittes Blacksmith Shoppe (bar) there! That building is slowly sinking into it's native earth....one of the original structures of New Orleans.

Anne, most excited!

Thanks Bunny!

I love reading all the tidbits she posts on how to do things; some are soooooo over my head! But I figure if I read it long enough....maybe, by sheer osmosis, something will sink in and stay!

lovin' your new header! (especially that little scotch tape detail!).

I'm totally html challenged - and couldn't care less. I figure, I have limited years left and limited brain cells left - I'm only going to use them on things that INTEREST me. :D

Once you become a computer whiz, you could have a new header for every season! I'm thinking New Orleans voodoo for Hallowe'en time!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Ooooooo, Tristan, I like the idea of a voodoo header!!!
Oh course I might keep THAT one all year, depending on my humor. Maybe it would be a warning for the post that followed!!! LOL!
Well, I need to accept your thoughts on learning HTML.....because I figure the same is true. It is just the challenge of it all, that bit of curiosity that always gets me into deep trouble!
And yes, the tape and those pins just really bring it all together!

The header rocks! I have been there. Anne, I love New Orleans especially going to that place where they sell that fried pastry. I love the beads. However, when I was in the French Quarter, it did not look so clean and I just came from Sarasota where everything was clean and fresh so I felt like I needed to pressure wash New orleans but being old and being stinky was its charm. I have not been back since Katrina though. I was so frightened by the drunks but they were harmless. It was truly a party city.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Deb,

Thanks! Yeah, Tristan hit the nail on the head; but he always DOES! I need to learn when to just stop.
Like that's gonna happen....LOL!!!

Hey Ces,

Yep, the fisrt time to NOLA is an eye (and nose!) opener. I wondered what on earth we had gotten into! Then you learn the dirt everywhere is silt coming up through the swampy soil, the smell, well, we won't go there, it's a sub-tropical climate and you get mold, and then there are all the restrictions on what you can and cannot do with buildings.
Thus, some of them with no paint, sinking into the ground.
And I was afraid of the drunks too till you learn the people to watch out for are the ones who can run....
I could live there, well, the NOLA that I knew pre-Katrina. I don't know what it's like now.
Beignets! That what you had???
