A Lovely Award, A Surprise, And A Big Honking Art Haul

First, thanks so much to Silke at Metamorphosis for this award! It was a lovely surprise, and I've been having more surprises of late that have been...hmmmm.....less than lovely; in fact, plain not nice! It is the small things that make you smile that always put life back on the right track when the world is determined to pull you in another direction!
I have to list ten things that make me happy: can I limit this to ten????

1. Bloggers, because they are the nicest people out there and writing this blog for the followers as much as myself makes me very happy!

2. Being back on my feet enough to create some minor art and feel like a human being again; that is a biggie and makes me smile....  :-)

3. Getting to have Big Macs two days in a row! I KNOW!!!! They are not good for me but my craving for meat since surgery has been unbelievable......

4. Finding, on the Robert Genn Twice Weekly Newsletter site a reply to one of his letters, from *MOI* with my entwined hearts accompanying the text!

That was a great surprise that made me very happy! You can find it HERE if you feel inclined to read...half way down the page.

5. My little bellowing Budgies, that keep me on my toes and are a constant source of amazement. (How can all that "PEEP!" come out of that tiny body??? Earplugs, anyone?)

6. Walking again without knee pain. The hip surgery straightened the leg, and thus removed the knee pain, and the pricey cortisone shots. How good is that???

7. Some cool tattoo-style designed t-shirts I picked up on sale! With hearts on them!

8. My art haul from Hobby Lobby today, pictured below. Things like metallic printed vellum was on sale for 15 cents a sheet, media to carve stamps from @ $1.79 on clearance, other goodies, and the Raisinets are, of course, for ENERGY to make art!  ;-)

Click the pic if you feel the need for more details......this was my first art shopping trip since being laid up! I was happy......oh yeah! Ask my plastic!!! LOL!!!

9. Getting in before the bad weather that is predicted hit. Ice does not make me happy when driving in it. No. Not at all, so my cozy home with a cup of hot tea makes me exceedingly happy.

10. Everyone who made a purchase from my Zazzle store....you made me happy!

And an extra, because I don't follow rules too good.......heehee!

11. Passing this on to ANY FOLLOWER who wishes to pick it up. I think everyone who reads and comments are worthy of an award for diligence, honesty and humor (or commisseration, as the case may be!), and y'all start my day off great. So click that award pic, save it, and make your own list of ten things that make you happy! Then pass it on to ten fellow bloggers, or do what I did and leave the joy there to be grabbed! MAKE SOMEONE HAPPY!!!!

As I sit in the mornings with my coffee, in the dark quiet before the hustle and bustle of the day in the outside world, hearing the little sound of mail coming in and replying to comments and visiting blogs, I couldn't be happier or more content.
Life can be so simple, and so extremely good. To all my friends......

Pax.

P.S. I posted this last evening. This morning, the *bad weather* I mentioned is here, howling like a banshee and making me even more thankful for being in. Everything is delayed due to ice on the roads and I have not yet ventured to the National Weather Service site to see what delights are out there. And I'm not opening the door either..... unitl poor DH has to go out to work.
For any of you who live where it is fairly warm and have decent weather, pluck the award and just put you're thankful for your lovely skies ten times. The rest of us will understand!  ;-)

Morning Anne!
I just hate days of ice & snow when DH has to go out. He has been in trucking for so many years but my fear does not go away. I guess that is why I am so anxious for him to retire.....
Cold here... nothing falling out of the sky. I want to go to the super market today but I will have to see if it warms up at all. I would love to pick up a couple of magazines that are out but we shall see. I am feeling a bit cooped-up with the early stages of cabin fever evident!! OH NO!! This may require an emergency trip to Barnes & Noble this weekend for a caramel mocha what-ever yummy & a Somerset magazine????
Take care & stay cozy!!

Hey MArilyn,

I tried to find a Somerset pub yesterday on my way to the doc, but no luck.
DH called the weather delay line at work....it's now pushed back till 10:00 and we have more of this coming in....I told him to STAY HOME. Nothing has been down the roads.
The only sound is the wind.
I feel like I am in an episode of Dark Shadows!!! (remember that chestnut???)
Hope you're able to get out!

Morning, Anne! Those are all great reasons. :) I, too, broke out the plastic at Michael's yesterday (and bought some Creative Paperclay! Yes!). Now I need some time to play. I do seem to need some more time, so send any extra you have over to me. haha. I'm so happy your knee/hip/body are not in pain. BTW< your Zazzle store is awesome! I might try it out (see the aforementioned TIME). Hope you get to make some art today - stay warm and stay inside! xoxo pam

Yesterday must have been the day for plastic! Bought my plane ticket for the School of Threadology in Vegas in April. Bought some DVDs on sale from Interweave - machine quilting and the like - have really felt the NEED to spend money lately....must be the fact that for a week the weathermen cannot get it right - a MAJOR storm for us - "The wettest January in history" has yet to materialize....if I made that many wrong choices I'd lose my job!! Stay warm!!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Pam, I sooooo hear you on time. I have not enough, seeing as how everything is still in slow-mo!!! But I'll send you some thoughts for more time! :) I'm thinking REALLY HARD!!!!! Bzzzzzzzzt!
Zazzle sets up pretty quick---you have a lot of customer contacts that would make it easy to promote so you might consider it. Make sure not to set royalty over 20% and make sure to include that astrik as you'll get an extra commission from anything sold thru that link. I did it clueless and on a whim....then added something each day for a few days.....
I have sewing to finish today so I definitely am staying warm. And DH has sort of decided NOT to go to work. Too much risk. You could ice skate here.
Have fun with the clay; you'll love it!

Weathermen are expemt from job loss I think!
Wow, I bet you beat us all in the plastic melt-down department, though yours sounds like a LOT of fun!
I was happy with my little purchase; would have been more but did not--repeat--DID NOT take a cart when I went in.
I know better.....
Enjoy your purchases!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Marianne......BE AFRAID. BE VERY AFRAID!!! LOL!
They have different stock than a Michaels--ours has a tremendous amount of home dec crap. (and I do mean CRAP...overpriced too)
But I always check their sale bin and have gotten great buys, plus if you sign up online for their newsletter, they usually have a 40% off coupon on reg. priced items.
I just couldn't let that go to waste.... ;)
Off to work, while I am energetic enough, well, as energetic as it gets today!

As long as you have art supplies or yarn, bad weather is bearable. Nice haul of supplies, BTW. Glad to know that you are getting back on your feet. Love to you!

Hey Lady bug!! Hope that you are feeling well today and being your beautiful creative self. It's so funny!! I knew that there was a connection between you and I. My father is named Coy and my sister Coy is named after him and my father is named after one of his uncles. Now my sister's daughter is named Coy. So every generation gets to have this wonderful name. It's unusual yes indeed and only people in the south have the name. I love my sister's name. Despite everyone trying to correct it with Corey, Cory and a few others. I'm proud to say Coy is said as spelled he he he he!!!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Leslie,

I'm *sort of* on my feet---yesterday's expedition to H.L. and the Doc did me in! Today is a sit down work day....which is okay too.
And I have enough yarn for Nuclear Winter.......LOL!!! Sad, but true!

Hey Vanessa,

That is so cool about your sis being named after your Dad and the name passing on---my relatives call me "Little Coy" because I am just like him....for better or worse! (okay, better because we had the same sense of humor!)
Oh, yeah, and the people trying to spell it different....plus his middle name was Alton, so that was another one no Yankees could quite get right.....LOL! I guess I'm a Yankee now that I have been here so long! ;) But IN MY HEART....ahem!

Hi Anne. So glad your hip is mending. I takes a long time though. Glad hubby is gonna get to be home with you. In Ky. the sun has not been visible for at least 4 or 5 day. Rain, mist, fog, it is a mess. I am doing a painting for my GD using the flower from the front of the book New Moon. She asked for pinks and green. Enjoy your day

Hi QMM....
Well, DH decided the world would not revolve without him, so off he went....made it to work okay.
I guess I can schedule my nervous breakdown at any time now.
Men.....
Was on the leg too long yesterday; today is a *sit and stay* day! LOL! Slow process, this is!

Hey Deb....

I'm all for warm, crappy pics!!! LOL! No ice.
I have some of that powdered protein mix.....but my mouth says it likes real beef better! The Big Macs were, trust me, an anomoly! (yummy though...)
I'm just a carnivore I guess.... :)

Hi Anne.
So happy you were able to get out and come back with treasures. The papers are gorgeous. The fleur-de-lis has always been a favorite of mine. I'm certain you will make something beautiful.
The only problem with the 40% Michaels coupons is I go because I feel I will save $$ and then I end up buying more. (THEIR EVIL PLOY)! LOL! I have a 60% off one right now that I WILL use for sure. We have an ACMoore store here, too, and they do the same coupon thing, so I get in double trouble!! (Not sure I will live long enough to use all these art supplies ~ but I love looking at them)! (:
Love your HAPPY list!!
Have a HAPPY day!!

I have a question about #3...is that really considered "meat?" Glad to hear you're in. I recall ice storms in Germany...was funny to the drivers picking up their kids at the little church across the street from our apartment building...they had a kindergarten and when it iced over, the kids would run after their ride as they slid down the street...put breaks on too soon!! Wow, you made me think of that memory!!! We're getting that nasty weather from CA and will begin to blow this afternoon...was blowing early yesterday morning until early evening. Hope we do get rain...out here in the desert, we need all the rain we can get. Guess the drought is over in CA!!!

Ok, need to get myself into that studio and work...maybe take a stroll to Hobby Lobby too before the gale force wind starts. Stay warm.

Love ya,
G

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Now Audrey, you are not supposed to live long enough to use it ALL, so when you pass there can be a big auction and everyone can FIGHT over your stuff! LOL!!!!
I think they have us figured otu, though I buy a lot less than I used to. I just try and pick up things I know I will use, or at least have a good chance of use ONCE...... <:[

Anne... JUST SO YOU KNOW ~ the quality is outstanding and the packaging was very, very, good. Cardboard so thick, no way was it going to get bent in transit.
This is my first experience with ZAZZLE ~ I would say you are dealing with an excellent company.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Thank you; that's what I need to know. I know their prices are a little high, but if the merch is quality, then you/we get what is paid for!
Will be anxious to know where you put the print! :)

Who doesn't love a haul from H.L.

Isn't this weather just too much.

Glad to hear you are starting to feel better..

I love snow....I hate, and Ido mean HATE ice!
Whatever happened to the winters we used to get where it got cold, snowed, that kind of stayed and then we actually had a season called *Spring*?
I'm sure I didn't make that up....LOL!!!

"Whatever happened to the winters we used to get where it got cold, snowed, that kind of stayed and then we actually had a season called *Spring*?" Those winters left us in our youth! now we are 'mature' we see the ice for the first time!

Girl, waddja win?! Rondell's eyes was straining to see that tiny pitcher and can't make out no details.

If that prize was edible you got to share it with me!!!! LOL

mmmmm Big Macs LOL
I was a vegetarian for twenty two years. The day I fell off the meat wagon (ewww - sounds like "Criminal Minds"), I fairly well jumped off with both feet. Now, any kind of meat - beef, pork, chicken, veal, shellfish - is in every meal LOL. I love it!

Glad you're smiling - good on you!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Robbie,

NO! We used to have that in between season called *Spring* that gradually went from cold to warm. Now we have snow one day and warm rain, then ice.....I liked the winters when I was little much better! (and my body mass too! LOL!!)

Hey Rondell....

Nothing we can consume or get drunk on! LOL! Though the second has great appeal this evening. Home made BBQ and not getting a good beer to wash it down is completely unfair.... >:(
I did have the Raisinets....but they're long gone! LOL!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Tristan,

I have had I don't know how many people ask me if I'm a vegetarian (????) and I can't figure that one at all.
I had the BEST pork BBQ for dinner....home made, from a huge roast, slow cooked, good spices. In fact, I just went for that and to heck with veggies, which I usually have! Just a BIG, HONKING sandwich.
I am bad......

Do stay off the ice...no stepping outside to take pictures and no trips to the mailbox, no matter how full it looks! Oh, and stay warm too. There, now I've done my motherly-nursely duty...great haul at Hobby Lobby! Kind of wish we had them here, but then again, I get in enough trouble at Michaels and don't need another craft store to spend money in!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hi MA!

I behaved well....inside ALL DAY. No way I was stepping out, even mid day when it looked like it had melted. The low pressure made everything in the body hurt except the fake hip (and I'm lovin' it more!) so I ended up snoozing and knitting finally. Was too wiped to do anything. Shut the studio down at 1:00 something.....
In other words:
I WAS A GOOD GIRL.
Circle the date in red on your calender.....LOL!!!!
