A Creative Mess.....It Must Be ART!!!

This morning I woke, wide awake at 4 a.m. again. I can't blame the birds or the leg or anything else......there is a simple reason. Today, as long as I hold up, is my first ART DAY since the operation!!! I was like a little kid before Christmas last evening; too anxious to sleep, ready to bound (well, okay, slide gently!) out of bed and waddle out in the dark of morning to post this! :-)

I hurried out to the studio, after brewing my trusty cup of 40 weight coffee (some day, it will eat right through the mug and walk off....), grabbed the camera and clicked off a few shots of what is on the sewing table. Creative mess! Thought in process of becoming reality. Papers I have saved up and love for their color or pattern, that will become little hearts of all varieties. Big and small......square backgrounds and rectangular. Traditional and non-traditional.
I am soooooooo excited! No, this is not *high art*, *fine art*, art to hang in a gallery.
This is an explosion of from-the-heart-art that I am pretty sure describes the joy I feel at being able to make anything artistic after a long dry spell. It is fairly easy, with collage and a bit of fluid acrylic and colored pencil, paper and scissors, canvas panels and gel mediums.....the things I love.

Today is also the first day poor DH has to return to work, and believe me, between the two of us, I have the better job! I am excited! (not that he has to go back to work....) Of course, I will have to cook a good warm dinner for him as he ventures out in the arctic blast of Indiana in January, but this means my life is returning slowly and somewhat to a state of normalcy, whatever that is.
Now if I can stay awake long enough to revel in my mess and make some more, it's going to be a  glorious day!
Thanks all, for the kind words yesterday on Charlene's photos---yes, there is a Huskey gene for photography, I am pretty sure. Oh the bedlam we could create if we were together!!! That could actually be frightening.....heehee!
And now, as I cannot bear it any longer, and the brain drivel is drying up and slithering in the direction of the sewing tables, I must bid you adieu. I still have some things to move from the wet studio and a chair to get in place down there.
If I could bottle the happiness I feel right now, I would send a 50 gallon drum off to all my gentle readers! Alas, instead, I must wish you a most creative happy day and bid you......

Pax.

P.S. I am thinking about a mystery give-away for Valentine's Day. Any thoughts from my public? This is still in the brewing stage......just sending out feelers to see what the response would be on a mystery give-away.....

ah what fun! i too am headed back to the day job today.... with less time spent creating over the holiday than i had hoped, but that's how it goes. how about a swap instead of a give away? happy creating?

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hmmmm....that's a thought too...we'll have to persue a bit more verbage on that!
Holidays go too quick, even when you're not able to do much. And I never get done what I think I will. I think that's just life, yes? :)

well, aren't you a regular bluebird of happiness to day?!

hurrah!!!

good on you!!!

make hearts until your scissors dull and your paper well runs dry!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Tristan, dear, if you could see the paper well.....well, you'd know there is no drought in sight! LOL!!! ;)
But it's fun to cut into things I've had stashed and ready to slash for a while.
Like I said, not gallery art, but FUN!!!

What fun!!! Of course, you know what today is for me???!??!?!? and Miss Daisy is really excited about it too...ho-hum. I've decided I'm not touching Valentines...just can't wrap my brain around it, so going to concentrate on other dollies and what ever. I think that's why I'm not exploding with ideas...thought that Valentines was next on my list....nah!! So you get in there a cut and such...good for you. My hubby went back to work today too, poor guy...said he wished he could retire, but cannot...ever!!

Will talk soon.

Love ya,
G

Hey Georgina...Just keep drivin'....and drivin'..... ;)
Earplugs are good! LOL!!!
I am waiting for things to dry, so am sort of at a standstill....think I'll cut some more paper or paint something...or take a short nap and THEN do the above! LOL!!

Yes--excited! And I am now at the *hot tea and nap* stage of the day! LOL!!! I have more excitement than I do stamina, but no matter---what little I did was fun and keeps me motivated!
Off to the warmth of my big comfy chair and ottoman...

While you are messing around with your heart art, think about me in my studio, doing similar messing about. Glad you are able to be in there, I know you will take it easy because you want to heal perfectly and quickly. Have FUN!!

Hi Anne!
It is wonderful to hear how filled with happiness you are!! And it is wonderful that you are having such fun with all those hearts!! Cutting things out can be therapeutic, too, don't you think?
Went to the DDS this morning ~ did not get good news. Crap. I must go back for some work UNDER an old crown and then get a NEW crown. I would be much happier if someone were going to put a crown on my head!! lol!
A mystery give-away (or a swap) sounds great! Anything you decide will be fun!
SO good to have you back !!

I remember the same excitement when I was a little girl going to school. New shoes, new uniforms, new bags and new school supplies. Unfortunately my excitement died after the first hour at school. Art is si much better.

I can imagine. Darn, it is so cold here today and since we are at the gulf, I tend to dress inapropriately. Today I wore a t-shirt, thick hoodie, pant and mules - no socks! My feet were freezing. What ca I say? It's been so long since I left New Jersey.

I mean "so" much better. I never review my comment before I submit. I need to be better at it.

Hi Anne,
I can feel your happiness while reading your post.
That's wonderful that you can get into your studio and play again!
Argh, I need to find my mojo.

OK, a mystery Valentines giveaway sounds great. I'm in.....
Warm hugs,
Anna

hey Jan,

I think I took a little sit and snooze break!!
it is so cold, even with the furnace in here, that nothing is drying! I am having to put some of this on hold till the weather warms! (so I'm knitting....)

Hey Audrey,

Ooooooo sorry about the dentist....do NOT envy you that! I'd rather sit in the cold and do nothing than go to the dentist!
I hope it warms some tomorrow or I'll have to get a portable heater out for in here---the first time this year.
Take care!!

Ces,

HA! I was the same way about school, especially the box of crayons and new paper tablet.
Then school actually *started* and that was that! The brain went elsewhere....quickly!
i am most frustrated that my gel medium won't dry and it is now too cold to be in the studio....maybe I'll take the papers in the house and cut hearts....pooey! >:(
And you don't have to preview---I can figure out what you're saying!

Hi Anna,

Well, at around noon, my mojo FROZE out here and I had to succumb to the house. The studio is even colder now, three hours later. I shall have to dig out the electric heater and put it in the basement, at least till this arctic blast is over, and I think we are due for more the rest of the week.
Wow....cannot believe this.....
