While I should have been cleaning and finishing the decorating....

...I discovered my friend Jan in Oregon sent me this YouTube video, and I watched it not once, but three times because anyone who has had someone touched by breast cancer will find this uplifting and dang it, I want to go to a hospital where they dance!!! (super job!)

And I heard that apron pattern calling my name again........

... so I chose instead to escape for the afternoon to the studio and play with the short apron in the pattern envelope---I knew that Day of the Dead fabrics would be just right for it. Although this one was in some ways quicker than the other, I screwed up the first set of ties thanks to the *hemming-foot-that-hates-me* and had to redo them, and they still are not stellar, but servicable. Hey, it's a work apron.

There are two pockets on this one, as it just felt unbalanced with one (much like the maker--LOL!!!) and quite by luck I ended up with the little skellie drinking beer, and the bass player as focal points of the pocket! Trust me, this was not planned.....
Again, it was fly by the seat of your pants sewing day, and then it was go clean up the mess started in the kitchen, in the process of thinning out junk that somehow breeds at an appalling rate.
I have to run the sweeper, which the Keets HATE....it is war, usually when Mr. Sweeper comes to visit, but the house is in desperate need.
I have hit that time of year when I cannot think and don't want to do what I have to; I am doing my imitation of a naughty child misbehaving before the Holidays.
Which is okay......get it out of my system now.
Now gentle readers, it is back to the real salt mines for me; since I played, the house fairy didn't show up, soooooo........
Off to clean.
I'm hoping you're creating something fun and wonderful instead! Or at least, go dance!

Pax.

Woke up this morning to snow!! It was actually beautiful. We had white tailed deer in the backyard when Hubby went out to start the road-tractor & I was very glad that we netted the valuable shrubs!!
Absolutely love the apron.... Remember when we were kids in art class & the teacher taught us to "fuzz" our vision to see the majority of the colors?? Anyway I do that to get past the skulls!!
GadZooks Anne... skulls?????
I love it anyway...Just bustin' ya"!!
Happy Holidays!!
Love,
Marilyn

That apron is fabulous! Maybe if you made an extra one for the house fairy she might show up.
You are not alone......the house fairy tends to be a bit of a no show around here as well.

I think the House Fairy just plain hates me.....or looks at the mess and says it's even beyond her abilities!!!
Off to the wet studio....to make a mess---LOL!

the little blue band resembling denim makes it look western too!

The video is absolutely wonderful!

Gypsy,
I just loved the video and was in tears after watching it. The part I liked best (I guess from doing blood draws) was the lab techs marching down the aisle! What a hoot! And the older gentleman cleaning the floor.....
Been making a mess with paint; I'm not sure I've gotten anywhere but having fun and that's what counts.
And yes, I love the apron. If it doesn't give you nightmares, you're not trying hard enough! LOL!!

I say squint at the dust ... smile at the skeletons!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE the apron with the Day of the Dead look!!
The video is wonderful!! Tears fell at the end. So many great people out there who care enough to even dance (even if they don't know how - lol!) in the name of a good cause!!!

I love the video...I want to go to a hospital where they dance too!!! Hey, I love that apron...is it for sale??? You know me and skellies!!!?? I also have lots to do, but eh...if it gets done, it will get done...always do best under pressure, but I'm learning not to even put myself through that!! LOL Staying in today. El Paso is actually experiencing winter...snowing outside right now...had my fill of snow when I lived in Germany, so I'm not a big fan and these idiots out here don't know how to drive in this wet stuff, so driving can be very scary. Snow is great on Christmas cards, where penguins play and where polar bears eat seal blubber!!! Bah, Humbug!!! LOL Have a great day, my dear crazy, insane bird of a feather friend.

Love ya,
G

I love this apron even more than the other one you made. It did appear at first, probably because of the denim looking fabric waistband, to be a Western theme. I thought it was cowboys pictured. This is better. Very cute. Almost enough to make me want to make one.

Glad everyone is enjoying the video, it is a blast. That is the hospital where my Dad had his surgery a couple years ago. He's still kickin'!

Your apron is very colorful and fun!!

I love the video! My hubs works at the hospital and his department does wacky stuff like this all the time. They have a good time with all the stress that surrounds them.

I for one, would love to have staff like this attend to me. I have had some wonderful nurses (who by the by are the hardest working folks in a hospital, I swear) so I can't say I have bad experiences there, but they don't dance. Sing maybe, with me of course.

I am struggling with getting things done. Mine is more a physical issue than mental. Yesterday making two custom orders I put the opposing backs of stockings on the wrong stocking. Didn't realize until near done. UGH... that is a huge mental mistake for me.

Hugs to you
Tammy

Hey Tammy,

Yeah, people have no idea the stress hospital or healthcare providers in general are under. I would love to find a group ike that to care for me!!! (even if I can't get up and Can-Can....)
Mine is mental and physical---I just figure in another week I ought to be awful to be around!!!
Oh well, today was productive so I can't complain.
I hear you on the stockings; ripped out inches of knitting because I kept knitting the worng patter. I can't concentrate!!! LOL!!
Hang in there!!

The only thing that would make that apron better is a loop to stick towels thru, ask me how I know...

marianne said...

love it! next up- lots of cooking to break the lovely aprons in, right? :)

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Oh Gosh Leslie....I forgot those. And the towels with the crocheted top loop and button? Do you remember those? You could hang them on aprons or around the sink. We had a lot when I was little.
I guess I should have made matching potholders.... <:)

Marianne, the full apron has already got it's *break in*. I slopped the fruit and wine reduction from the pork right down the front of it this evening.
Didn't you see the mushroom cloud go up????
And that is why I own and wear aprons.
Always.

Your day of the dead apron is priceless but I do like the idea of putting the towel contraption onto it for convenience!!!! Every one who works in a hospital needs to take dancing lessons and choreography to entertain the patient patients who are on their floor. Thank you for making me laugh!!! Oh no the Victoria Secret Bra girls are on TV with the Black Eyed Peas!!! Imagine Peace, Mary helen Fernandez Stewart

MAry elen,
So dancing should be mandatory in the curriculum? Yes, I think so too!
And I won't watch the VS girls.....I guess it's the old renegade in me; I refuse to watch bone thing, boob-jobed chicks in underwear......
LOL! Not Punk!
