Again.....Art In Process.....

Well, for days I have been trying to get the simplest of photos taken and sometimes I think it is just me.....I am unwilling to sit still long enough to get something finished.
Yesterday was different. I really kicked things into gear and got packages wrapped, myself exercised, presents for the Budgie Boyz ordered, and, most importantly, photos taken.
Above are the ATCs with the two fiber ones. I lost a bit of color due to the intensity of the neighboring pieces, but do you detect a theme, either content or color??? (God forbid I get out of my red/heart rut....I'm happy there, thank-you-very-much!) They do look kinda cool all lined up....  ;-)

The collage papers I posted the other day have turned into these two pieces, which are getting closer to what I want. They are quite difficult to photograph due to the interference colors used on them, so the actual background colors are a bit more brownish/black where they seem more purpley here.
It was during the present wrapping and wailing along with a Brian Setzer Christmas CD that I knew I wanted the stamped background brought up more (see close up shot) so I ran to the wet studio, mixed some color and stamped away.

This shows the detail better, but the color is still not right. Yes, I could have tinkered with it but that would probably have meant the blog post wouldn't have gotten done.....so little time, so much distraction!
These are not my typical works, and I still like them because I have played with them, both with colors and content. Sometimes you need a vacation from the hard thinking work. Fun is a necessity.
I'd like to take credit for all I accomplished yesterday myself  but I have to admit, my day started with a beautiful web-based church service, and the second contemporary service had the most ROCKIN' version of "Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel" I have ever heard......now truly, that was what got me jumping and wailing (that's *singing* in normal terms....I have no gift of voice what so ever....but I'm LOUD). It was exceptional!
So now I'm off on my appointed rounds. Have a Happy Monday.
Do something to lift your heart and make you smile!
I bid you....

Pax.

Marilyn, it is coooooold here too. I hot footed it to the thermostat as soon as I got up; knit felted footies with slippers atop. Leaving the birds covered a while.
Hope you get warm and stay in where it's comfy!!!

they look great- both the atcs (don't you love how themes emerge sometimes?) and the bigger pieces. interference colors are fun, even if they are hard to capture- have a great day!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Thanks Marianne--

I love playing with those paints but you CAN NOT get a photo that looks reasonably close to color without a lot of computer manipulation.
I'm off to the wet studio to stamp some more, or do something. I'd like texture but don't think mediums would work at this point....don't know......

love the heart pieces - each very distinctive and evocative ... but, wow, those two collages are fabulous. I'm already picturing them float mounted and framed in carved ebony!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

And my dear, are you PAYING for those frames???? LOL!!!
I am finishing them up; they needed a bit more and I *hope* they will be on here tomorrow, all done!
But boy, are they hard to photograph. They do look good as a pair though.....
Thanks! ;)

The heart ATC's are great! You should make some heart postcards for the Fiber Arts magazine Valentine's. We've done these for the past 3 years!

Anna Rosa Designs said...

Hi Anne,
Oh now I understand why you're having a hip replacement at your young age. I wish you all the very best of luck.

Love what you're doing with the ATC's and the original brown paper, such a talented lady!

Your winter colour photo would look fantastic as a large painting on canvas. Hm!!
Take care,
Hugs,
Anna

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Robbie,

I hadn't thought of doing that---it wouldn't take much work to go post card sized!
Thanks!

And, I almost have the collaged papers at completion...YAY!!!!! :)

Hey Anne,
I tried to reply to your email but it came right back to me!

OK, I'd love a larger JPEG if you don't mind me painting it.
How generous of you.
Hugs,
Anna

Great ATC's, maybe we can trade some day. I'm still waiting for my Brian Seltzer (!) CD. I could be wailing with Brian instead of crying over lack of water.

The first thing I thought when I saw those hearts was that you were getting a head start on Valentines Day. Second thought was....what on earth is the MATTER with that woman that she's so darned organized to be thinking that far ahead! Yikes. Please don't burst my bubble by telling me that you really ARE that organized, or I might just have to hate you.

One of the most gratifying things about blogging is finding inspiration everywhere I turn. I love your work and it wakes my eyes when the day is a struggle for me artistically. Well done once again.

OoooooooJan, As I was looking at that CD I could not for the life of me remember if I had made a copy for you and now I am reminded and being duly motified in public.... <:( ....I am so sorry. I told you that I have to be reminded of everything a dozen times!!!
On my list....

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

MA, LOL!!! Are you kidding?? That organized? I'm not perky either, so that one can go off the list too. By Valentines day I'll be making skulls and crossbones on pirate flags or some such nonsense. My studio is this timeless place....I am clueless to season other than HAlloween and Christmas!
Or we could just stop after *I am clueless*...... ;)

Hey Tammy,

I spent most of the day on the couch yesterday....after finishing the two collage pieces. Not sleeping well at all and dead on my feet this morning.
It's always nice to hear that you inspire someone, because that energy come right back! Thank you!
Hope you're doing okay.....Indiana is just a meteorlogical treat, isn't it? LOL!!! LOL!!! (I am being quite sarcastic on that one....)
Will post the finished collage pieces probably tomorrow.
Take care,

Aren't you supposed to be resting for your surgery? Why are you pushing yourself? You need to take it easy so you can come out and play early after your surgery. I love the ATCS very colorful! Oh I see a Frank Netter heart! I love the butterflies.
