The Last Golden Sunrise Of Autumn

No words necessary......these were before the last rain and wind storm that took all the beautiful leaves. The morning was cold, the clouds parted and there were a few moments of intense, unbelievable gold everywhere. The air, literally, glowed.
Enjoy!

These were the last, girls. I think, in fact, this was from the morning when the rain and wind came in, because I wanted to shoot more but there was just a breif break in the clouds, then WHAM. It all went.
No color retouching.....I was stunned. Even *I* looked golden out in the light!

Hey Di,

I still can't get over how light changes everything.....and this is after YEARS of art and photography.
Sometimes, it's just magical.

Magnificent! Most of our leaves came down last week with the rain.

That tree is photo perfect!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Tristan,

This was the morning before everything cut loose, and I do mean CUT LOOSE. We have a few stragglers left, except of course for the oaks that keep leaves all winter.
I forgot I had not posted these and they just made me feel all warm and good (which is NOT how I'm feeling today) so thought I'd share......
I think the Autumn leaves should be GLUED on, to last longer! LOL!

Love all about your wonderful blog. Hope you don't mind if I follow along. Mixed media is the best of all worlds.

Welcome Bell!

I have such a ball with mixed media and have had far too little time to deal with it lately due to sewing commitments. I am quite ready to get back to the wet studio and start slapping paint and paper and mediums!
Thanks for the blog compliment....it has it's up and down days content-wise, but usually I can whine enough to make people laugh!

Gorgeous photos!! I so miss autumn, but you have heard that before! I need to get out my older photos from Vermont and scan them to look at them regularly. I know what you mean about the rain - there would always be one day right after peak weekend when it would pour, and then the color was gone - sometimes the rain happened the night, and we lost another week of color. Bummer - when I retire, experiencing fall is my first trip!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hi Linda---

Yes! That should be! Go find the leaves, and take something that you can press some to take home.
I once took one of my Japanese Maple Leaves in full color, laid it on a page of my sketch book and covered it with clear contact paper. It still has color, though it has darkened. I've often wondered if other trees would work.
Now we are down to a lot of skeletal tree fingers sticking up in the air......when snow gets here, those will be lovely too, but I miss the long and languid Fall's we used to get.

P.S. do scan your photos. I am slowly in the process of doing that with my favorite ones......slowly....... :)

Lovely, Anne.
So sad to see that golden beauty fade away. But, soon we will have the beauty of frost and snow to enjoy and photograph. There is a certain beauty in every season!!
Looking forward to the time when you get back to your mixed media art! I've been trying to do that for ages now. Life just keeps getting in the way. LOL!
Have a good weekend.

Hey Audrey,

I hear you on the *life-gets-in-the-way*....and the older I get, the more it seems to butt in! (I might be getting slower, but I don't want to admit that! HA!)
I love snow and frost season and am always ready to roll with the camera for those too!
One book I've been enjoying is "Mixed Emulsions: Altered Art Techniques for Photographic Imagery". You might enjoy it too. Think I picked it up thru Amazon. Lots of brain-candy......especially with all the pics we take! You might check it out.
Have a good one!

How beautiful Anne! We got some that going on across the street!! LOL Our leaves don't turn like that, but the guy across the street has those gorgeous colours going on in his front yard...when I get around to it, I'll take a pic and send you my little piece of autumn on Isabella St.!

BTW, my hubby took my advise and went to see my doc after all. That so called "doctor" of his called him in a prescription of Tamaflu....that's it! I think I have him sold on my doc...hubby said he was very thorough....well, yea!

Hi Anne! Our leaves are gone now, too. Beautiful picture! Have a great day - I hope to get time to take some pics of my lovely prize and post. :)

Our leaves are all gone too. Well, they're still around, but they're on the ground, not in the trees where they belong! I didn't manage any good pictures because any day I had time to take a drive, it was raining and windy. Your photos are lovely!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Hey Georgina,

Tamaflu???? That's useless! Glad he listened to you! Does this mean the world is coming to and end? LOL!!!
Take care--both of you!

Hey Pam,

I just got my Halloween decs down! LOL! I think it would be more fun to leave them up all year....would keep the door to door solicitation to a few hardy souls! >:)
I'm back to the couch---Gary and I just pass the bug around.
Have a good one!

Hi MA,

Yes, technically, my leaves are still here too....at least part....though a lot have blown somewhere other than my yard! <:)
But it's the country, so it doesn't matter, thank heavens! They make good mulch for the flowerbeds though....

Good mulch for the over 300 cloves of garlic Jack has planted in the garden for next year too!

Gorgeous! Wowser, all the leaves are gone now... Thanks as always for sharing the bounty.

It's as thought God came along and gave one big breath of air and now the leaves are pretty much gone. Sorry here so late today. I love your photo's!! Hugs. Tammy

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

MA.....mmmmmmm....now THAT'S how I like my garlic! I have not grown it; used to grow shallots (the french kind) and loved cooking with those.
And would plant about that many too! ;)

Hey Leslie, I'll trade you leaves for snow, because right now, everything has converted to brown, with the exception of an intrepid dandelion blossom or two.....odd to see them now.
And I really, really want snow! :)

Hi Tammy,

Yep, one moment of complete and utter beauty to catch---a last chance---and then poof, gone.
That was one of the mornings I was out running around in PJs trying to get everything photographed.
I'm telling you, the light really was such that even when I looked down at my hands, it was like it was gold.....just amazing.
I am thankful to have to opportunity to record moments like that!
Take care--
