In the spirit of the season......

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

I found this little guy too hard to resist; it's either the top hat, the cravat complete with stick pin or that look on his face! Dang...they used to know how to make cards and the illustrators were top notch with both detail and humor!
If I did a list of everything I am thankful for, Blogger would crash. So let it suffice that I am thankful to be where I am, with DH, and we know our blessings. There is something warmly comforting in that.
The only decision I have to make is the duck or the gumbo. Because to be honest, I have no idea what we are eating tomorrow! So any of you last minute folks who are now panicking, revel in my honest admission! And at this point.....well...I suppose I should do something.
Taking a few days off--as I am sure most of us will be--so the blog will be still for a while. Hope y'all have a good day tomorrow and something yummy.
And if you have pumpkin pie, eat a slice for me. (DH won't eat it; I'll eat all of it...sigh...) And if you should have sweet potato pie, slip a piece in a box and mail it to me. I will be your slave for ever! I love that stuff.......sigh....it's those Southern Roots showing.
And be thankful....no matter how we are, or what we're going through in life, if we look hard there is something that is an item of thanks.
To you all, I bid you........

Pax.

Everyone needs a break, and hope you get to the art part! I am still dithering what I want to do, something small.....
Oh, I did use the felter on one of the sweater sleeves; I'll have to take some pics to post after the holiday! Turned out good, I think.
Enjoy!

Mornin' Anne!!
Tomorrow will not be relaxing for me. I will be on my toes all day but friday I plan on this...1. Not getting out of my pink chenille robe & fuzzy slippers all day. 2. Watching TV all day 3. Eating turkey until I sprout feathers as I love turkey 4. Just watching the world go by!!
How's that sound??
Have a wonderful day....
Happy Thanksgiving!!
Love,
Marilyn

Hi Anne! I'm taking a few days off, too. I am sincerely hoping to play. Maybe go to a movie. Stay in my jammies for a day. Eat sweet potato pie (kidding - but now I want one!). Enjoy your duck or gumbo (man, now I want gumbo, too!) and rest up. So happy and thankful to have met you, my friend! xoxo Pam

Marilyn...it sounds PERFECT!!!!! I want pics of the sprouted feathers--LOL!!!
I love turkey, but even a small one is too big for th two of us....thus, something simpler. it's okay.
After tomorrow, you enjoy your down time!!!

I am glad to have met you too---and I hope we both have time for something just plain fun. I want to watch "The Grinch". I love that movie! And stay in jammies and knit while watching!
And do nothing for a few days other than what perks up my short attention span....
Have a good one!

Marianne,

Thank you--I vote for the gumbo too; in fact, I can get most of it done today (chopping veggies) and finish it later.
Yes, that is a GOOD choice!!!

Gypsy---have fun at art class---you've made such neat things!
I always wondered why Canadian Thanksgiving was earlier, especially with this Sunday being the Grey Cup (and you know what we'' be doing....). Aren't holidays scheduled around sports??? LOL!!!
Love the sweet potato pie story! :)

Glad you're taking a break...you need it. Didn't do squat yesterday except spend money at Hobby Lobby...will get some work done maybe tomorrow till I have to hike it up to NM for the family festivities. No pumpkin this year, but will be making apple pie, my daughter's green bean casserole (not that nasty stuff they advertise in the mags and TV....bleh!!)and was hoping to take my daughter's sweet potato casserole, but she has no internet service right now (didn't pay the bill) so will have to wait on that...damn, and that's good stuff!!

Anyway, have a wonderful Thanksgiving, gumbo, duck or what ever and just enjoy...chilax with plenty of vino!

Love ya,
G

Did I tell you how much I love your custom work you completed? If I didn't, I love them.

I did pies all day yesterday. set me up for breakfast for today!! I love love love sweet potatoes. My second favorite side right behind squash. I don't make the pie however. Maybe I will give it a go.

Love your top hat turkey. I have so many images on my computer like these. Would make your head spin clear off.

Go for the gumbo. Best gumbo I ever had was in NOLA back in 1984. Man it was good. They have the best food down there.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING and my your health, heart and home be blessed! Hugs. Tammy

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

Tammy, my gumbo (which I did get going!) can compete with the best from NOLA. I bought a gumbo cookbook there one year---it has a seasoning recipe that I make and use.
The house smells wonderful now and I am starved, but sufficing with a Diet Pepsi becuase I'm trying to do this silly little craft thingy.... :)
What can I say!
Have a lovely day and enjoy all that PIE!!!

All I can this is...that card HAD to have been created the day AFTER Thanksgiving. I can just hear that turkey saying (gobbling) "Nah, nah, ya missed me!".
Happy Thanksgiving!

LOL!!!LOL!!!
You're right, I had not thought of that, and maybe that is why it appeals to me so much---it's that expression!
And also the sense of "WHEW!" ;)

I know exactly what you mean about having too many things to be thankful to list. I'm the same way. I feel blessed (well, almost) every day of my life! (we all have the off-day now and then LOL).

HOwever, one of the things I"m grateful for is the blogging world, so that I've been able to get to know exceptionally kind and generous, talented and clever, loyal and lovely friends like you!

It was delicious and I have been resting, and intend to......maybe not blog till Monday.
