Autumn Glory

Yesterday was sunny, windy and chilly; perfect for a romp around the acre with camera in hand. A few photos to share that need no explainations.....just that lush color and breathtaking transformation that Fall brings quietly, suddenly, overnight.
All photos should enlarge, some are quite worth the extra moment!
Have a beautiful, bright and breezy day.....
I bid you...

Pax.

Oh, I love that seed pod, and that gorgeous red leaf. It's a glorious time of year, isn't it? :) I think I'll make some soup! (Soup is my answer to everything in the fall and winter). Have a great day, Anne! xox Pam

Soup is my answer too----I want a big pot of vegetable soup, but we have lkeftovers of the semi-burnt, or caramelized sloppy joes.....so soup gets to wait!
Rain here today, and for the next several---glad I was able to get out yesterday!
the seedpod is milkweed---we used to have tons of it until they started spraying. That is the only thing the ,monarch butterfly catapillars eat, thus, less butterflies. I keep spreading the fluff, trying to get more growing.....
I could do a whole post on this....
Have a good one Pam, and dry too I hope!

I just LOVE fall color....I can't get enough, especially since--as with this year--it will probably go fast. Then we're left with bare trees and mud. Hmmmmm.
have fun at art class!!!!

Too bad we can't bottle all that color and beauty and pop it out in the middle of winter....
We have rain due here today and tomorrow and the temp is to drop by this afternoon. ):
Enjoy the Fall beauty, Anne!

I just love your pictures. Fall here is colorful (New Mexico) but not the juicy rich colors where you live. Gorgeous Dahlink.

Our leaves don't look anything like that...even your milkweed is gorgous in all it's fluffy white burst of seeds making more little baby milkweeds!!! It's going to be unseasonably warm the next few days here and in most of Texas...they're expecting temps in the upper 80's...drat! We never put our summer clothes away...it's just to time consuming to dig them out every time the weather decides it want Spring instead of Winter!

Anne, these are really beautiful, worth the cold weather to see them!!

What a visual delight! These are fabulous photos. **swoons** This week fall is marked in the desert by the "scalping" of the tiff lawn and the seeding of the winter rye...so I am seeing brown, dried, dead. But only on the lawn.

I shall gaze at your photos this week until my winter grass comes up. Truly wonderful photos.

Hi All,

Answering the lazy way after a long trip to the doc---the wait was long, the shot was short! But the knee bends again! HA!
If only we could save Fall Color longer.......it is cold and raining this morning and flat out miserable grey. So glad I got these yesterday, and glad that everyone enjoyed them!
Am hoping maybe to have another weather break, but the forecast doesn't look like it; rain, and more rain.
Take care all you all---I have to go put up some parsley that I forgot about yesterday----should fill a couple f big zip-lock bags.
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

I was going to take some fall color photos too, but we had this crazy rainstorm and now all the fall color is on the ground soggy and muddy. Oh well, I get to look at *your* fabulous pictures. I think that seedpod is my fave. Is it milkweed?

Hey Vicki----
YOU? IMPATIENT?
Impossible....that means I'm impatient too! LOL!!!
We need to go to that one cemetary by the state border for a day of shooting. Well, maybe after surgery, but you would LOVE it!

Hey Julie,

Yes, that is milkweed. I keep trying to get it to spread in the south acre for the Monarch Butterflies. I do have more this year, but surprisingly, it's hard to get going. I have ONE plant in the yard....will cull some seed when it opens.
Raining here too; thankful for yesterday. I hope we still have color after the next FOUR DAYS of forcast rain. Pfffft!
Glad you're okay, at least with electricity to post!

Lovely photos! We try to grow a little bit of milkweed in our flower beds at the back of the house - for the monarchs. A couple of years ago our garden was on the local garden 'tour' and somebody reported us as having milkweed. The bylaw officer came & sat in front of our house, peering into the backyard to see if we had an acre of the stuff(idiots). We didn't get charged, but I had my sleeves rolled up to do battle!!

Oh my gosh....you MUST be kidding! It's days like this that makes me glad I'm out in the country where no one cares...other than the State Police looking for people who grow things they shouldn't!!!LOL!!
Milkweed has the most beautiful blossom too......
People are mean....

Somehow I missed this, lovely. We lost our colour to rain and wind as well. Thanks for the Fall fix.

Oh...another thing...have you ever taken time to actually smell a milkweed bloom? They are lovely.

I am looking forward to closing my day's images into my heart when I stop by each evening. You are such an inspiration to us all and these colors are soooo beautiful to drink in...we may have snow flurries tonight...yikes! Your socks are incredible oh what luscious sherbert colors...I bet they keep you toes warm! I made homemade macaroni and cheese with whole wheat pasta and three gooey cheeses. Warm and comforting! MA,

Yes, I have smelled the blossoms and they are the most wonderful, sweet-light powdery scent. Plus all those little flowelets.....
How could one not like the plant?

Mary Helen......SO NOT FAIR!!!!
I have wanted to make mac and cheese from scratch for weeks and just put it off due to lack of time.
But after the cortisone shot in the knee yesterday, and now being able to stand longer, it just might be on tomorrow evenings dinner fare! YUM!!!!
That's all I'll think of all day, you know...... ;)
